I noticed today that if I open up a document that is residing on a network drive, that in the aero peek, the document is not displayed just a white box with the application's icon inside.
Documents that are not on a network drive, peek just fine.
Anybody else noticed this?
I'm using Word 2002 + Windows 7 and can't preview Word documents in the preview pane (although pdf's and webpages work fine). Is there anything I can do?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a recurring issue that drives me nuts to no end: Everytime I put my computer to sleep (I'm 99.5% sure this is the cause), Aero preview crashes, and prevents me from switching to an application with more than one window open (that is, using the taskbar). I have to kill and relaunch explorer to bring it back, but as I shut my laptop lid often, this is hardly ideal.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI do a great deal of video editing and special effects on my Windows 7 (home premium, 64bit) laptop. Many of the stock footage clips I use are .mov files and a lot of the sound files I use are .wav and .mp3. Unfortunately, these files do not preview (They don't play) in the preview pane in Windows Explorer. .mp4 videos do preview, but I have not tested anything else. All of the above mention files play just fine in the standalone WMP. Do I need to download extra codecs to make them work in the preview pane?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have tried over and over to completely disable sharing over my home network of my personal documents folder (not the public folder) yet it still shows up and is fully accessible on any computer in the house. I have a password but that's not the point, I want to be able to make the my documents folder inaccessible completely from other computers on the network. It's disabled in the sharing properties but that makes no difference. Any ideas?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am currently looking a way to enable Aero in my machine. (as note, currently I am missing the Aero Glass, Aero Peek, and Aero Flip.
I did a clean install of Windows 7 on the machine. Because my screen is WideScreen, at first the graphics are all large and mushy. But at this point I HAVE AERO!
Then, I installed the driver for the gfx card, which was SIS UniVGA3 v.3.85. After installing and restarting, I get the normal resolution (1280x800) but NO AERO.
I thought this was driver problem, so I downloaded UniVGA5 v5.07, UniVGA5 v5.20 (which is the driver for Windows7, according to the site), and the SiS driver update from Windows Update, all of which didn't enable Aero for me.
I am completely stumped on this. I just don't get why the heck I get Aero WITHOUT driver, but no Aero with drivers.
Does anybody know of any file converters out there (free if possible) that can convert ClarisWorks files to Office Word files? I have a lot of old documents that I wish to convert.

A person is scanning in PDF documents in large amounts and then using the thumbnail preview wants to be able to rename them from the default scanner assigned name. regsrv32 /u shmedia.dll doesn't work - file not found.Preferred is to disable all video extensions with the same option, as there are rare formats which I'm not aware, but the slow PC down or may hang PC for several minutes.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Reader using Revo uninstaller and I still can't preview PDF's in Windows Explorer.

I had previously had Foxit installed. I had to run a repair install of Adobe Reader (Control Panel>Programs and Features>Adobe Reader 9.2>Change>Repair
Then apply this registry fix and voila!
I would like to have Foxit and Adobe Reader installed, so not sure how to make Foxit the default reader but still maintain preview in Windows Explorer.
I am running Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit) with Service Pack 1 and Office 2010 Professional (32 bit). Before installing Windows 7 and Office 2010, I formatted my hard drive and did a clean install. I am having an issue with previewing JPG files within Outlook 2010 -- when I try to preview JPG files I get the following error message: �this file cannot be previewed because there is no previewer installed for it�. Of course if I double-click the JPG attachment, it instantly opens in Windows Photo Viewer. I can preview ALL other types of attachments within Outlook, just not JPG files.
