I'm looking for a way to enlarge the thumbnail preview in Explorer. A person is scanning in PDF documents in large amounts and then using the thumbnail preview wants to be able to rename them from the default scanner assigned name. The current thumbnail size isn't big enough to see enough detail to rename the file without opening the document.

When I have multiple Internet Explorer tabs open, and I am scrolling over the thumbnail previews of these tabs down in the taskbar area to see what pages are currently open, every few minutes or so my cursor will hang/freeze for a split second and then go skip back to normal movement. It doesn't matter if I am using my touchpad mouse that is on my laptop or a wireless mouse via USB. It's becoming kind of annoying..

When I'm putting the mouse over the thumbnail window I see it correctly but the original windows is "transparent" I don't see the information to say that I do not see its contents as I have not clicked on the thumbnail, on other items just drag the pointer over the thumbnail for the full window visible.

I am still able to change my cursor, and it works fine, it's just, in the windows explorer the thumbnail of the cursor shows a Photoshop icon. Only the .cur file is affected, the .ani is not.

When I peek at an explorer window, if less than 10 explorer windows are open then it shows a thumbnail of each folder. If more than 10 explorer windows are open, it shows a list of the complete path to each folder. I find the list much more useful.Is there a setting to change the behavior to always show the list of paths?

Update: Solved
I had previously had Foxit installed. I had to run a repair install of Adobe Reader (Control Panel>Programs and Features>Adobe Reader 9.2>Change>Repair
Then apply this registry fix and voila!
I would like to have Foxit and Adobe Reader installed, so not sure how to make Foxit the default reader but still maintain preview in Windows Explorer.
I have enabled the Preview Pane (Organize/Layout/Preview Pane) and the preview pane is displayed. However, the only preview that is displayed is *.jpg. Other files such as *.doc, *.docx, *.xls, *.txt and .eml are not displayed. Also I understand that there is someway to preview *.pdf

I think it is because I recently installed and uninstalled winamp. (thats the only thing I can think of) I cant do system restore because I had it disabled. I've tried reseting the search index, reseting folder options, going under performance and checking the settings there, nothing has changed. I really dont want to have to wipe and reinstall...
Here is a picture if you dont get what Im saying, as you can see in the folders it still displays the album art of the files but the actual mp3 files dont show it. The album art works fine in WMP.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI do a great deal of video editing and special effects on my Windows 7 (home premium, 64bit) laptop. Many of the stock footage clips I use are .mov files and a lot of the sound files I use are .wav and .mp3. Unfortunately, these files do not preview (They don't play) in the preview pane in Windows Explorer. .mp4 videos do preview, but I have not tested anything else. All of the above mention files play just fine in the standalone WMP. Do I need to download extra codecs to make them work in the preview pane?

Cutting to the chase, I deduced that when, in explorer, I simply clicked on the folder containing this file, my available memory started to disappear about 10-20MB a second until it was depleted; at which point system performance came to a near halt. I also eventually found out that it was the process explorer.exe that held all of this available memory, EVEN THOUGH the task manager AND resource manager showed that explorer held a steady... 25MB. On my 4GB ram system, after just about a minute, all 2.5 gigs were gone and when the explorer.exe process was ended, all that mystery memory re-appeared.Booting in Safe Mode, clicking on this folder did not produce the same result.Over the next few weeks, I acquired more and more .mkv's. NOT ALL OF THEM create this problem, but about 40% of them do, with the exact same symptoms. I tried disabling thumbnail previewing on individual files AND folder thumbnailing, and it STILL caused this super annoying issue.I can not move these large .MKVs to another hard drive unless I am in safe mode. not acceptable.

im having a problem on flv video files on my video library.This all started when I run tuneup gain disk space it may have been deleted some file that something to do with thumbnail preview on flv files.Now flv files has no thumbnail preview...the player i use to play flv files is VLC.
