Thumbnail Previews (Windows 7 32 & 64) For Non-PDF E-Books?
Oct 19, 2012
Adobe PDF e-Books can have a preview on Windows Seven, if Adobe Reader is installed.Similar stuff is present in Windows 7 for a lexicon of filetypes: Supported file types for thumbnails/previews - ResourceSpace Documentation Wiki But, unfortunately enough, we still lack a tool/ third-party app to enable thumbnail previews for other filetypes, that we often use in daily life, (for example *.pdb, *.chm, *.epub ebooks etc). Even if, we have a third-party viewer installed for all of them, the thumnail preview never appears (instead, they take up the filetype-icon)Many Media files can have icons with appropriate players/codecs installed: FAQ - Thumbnails But, works need to be done for the e-book sector.Similar issues have been already addressed here on this forum, so I don't think, our experts can't make it.Photoshop PSD files - Enable Thumbnail Previews - Windows 7 ForumsView Photoshop PSD files in Windows - x64 PSD CODEC for Windows 7, Windows VistaFixes for 64-bit Adobe Reader preview handler and thumbnails Some More Resources from Microsoft are Linked Here: File Type Handlers Thumbnail Handlers Building Thumbnail Handlers Thumbnail Handler Guidelines
I am not seeing the window "thumbnail previews" when I mouse-over open items in the task bar.. All I see is black blocks that pop up with the name of the open windows, no live preview?? where is this option to turn on?
I had to reinstall firefox and now I have no thumbnail previews. I tried the about:config taskbar enable set to true route but it didn't work. I didn't know how much I depended on them until I didn't have them!
A week after downloading the new GeForce GT 540 drivers I started getting a rippling effect rolling up my screen only while I play video game (COD2). It was the same day that my parents maid came and cleaned and she cleaned my laptop (Asus K53SV) and knocked it off dual monitor somehow. Could she have caused the effect too? Anyway, my only thought was that it was the driver so I rolled back to the old driver. When it came back, my windows frame and taskbar colors were much lighter colored and the Thumbnail previewer changed to a list. No problem, I switched back to the new driver (rippling effect never went away) and all was fine with Thumbnails.Today (several days later), I started up the puter and the colors were lighter on Windows and the Tumbnails Previewer was gone.So I rolled back the driver and reinstalled new drivers and nothing changed. I googled the problem and found Brink's instructions to save Thumbnail Previewer thing to desktop and hit merge, etc. and restarted and still no Previewer.
I recently downloaded several free audio books to my computer and they are listed in my downloads. Can someone kindly explain what I need to do to install them correctly from here so they can be heard, and importantly, stopped and started where the speaker or chapter ends. I have Win7 Pro installed. TC.
I am new to live mail. I have been using outlook 2010. I want to create separate address books and have the choice of which one i want to select contacts from. I could do it in outlook, but can't find how to do it in live mail. I made a seperate contact list but can access anyone in it, just the whole thing everyone in it goes in the email.
I recently upgraded a Packard Bell desktop to Windows 7. It was originally XP. When I installed 7, it didn't look the same as my laptop that had 7 pre-installed when bought. On the desktop, it doesn't show previews of windows on the taskbar when scrolled over etc. Can I make it the same as the laptop?
I recently reinstalled Windows, and my mum was using my computer to open a PDF file, but since I hadn't installed Adobe Reader yet, the file couldn't open, so she attempted to open it in Internet Explorer... So anyway, I installed Adobe Reader X, but the default program to open PDFs was still set as Internet Explorer, so I had to change it to open with Adobe Reader. It opens properly now, but there's one problem, there are no PDF file previews in Explorer; if I make the icons bigger it just shows a big Adobe icon. I tried the fix here: Fixes for 64-bit Adobe Reader preview handler and thumbnails but it doesn't work. I also tried using an alternative PDF reader (Sumatra) but I still get no previews.
Upon first opening Explorer in Windows 7, everything works fine. If I switch to another folder, I lose previews. In some folders, I have no icons at all. It doesn't seem to matter what the content is: .docx, .jpg, .avi. All icons are lost. The dreaded green bar starts crawling across the top. I have a spinning magnifying glass in the left pane. In "my computer" I can't navigate to any drives. It's beyond frustrating.I use a custom desktop theme and everything worked up to now; switched to Aero theme and have the same issues. I've run Malwarebytes. No problems discovered. I rebuilt the icon cache. Same problem as above. I did a system restore to a point before this started. Same problem. I started in safe mode. Everything works fine.
When I hover over a file that is supposed to have a preview option in Windows Explorer, the preview pane in explorer is blank. If I hover over a file that doesn't have a preview handler, it says "Preview not available". However the preview of images does work. Office files and PDFs won't display. I have checked all of the suggested folder options and they are set correctly. I have also found the preview handlers in the registry and they are all referenced there. I tried repairing Office and also did a sfc /scannow.
I have enabled the Preview Pane (Organize/Layout/Preview Pane) and the preview pane is displayed. However, the only preview that is displayed is *.jpg. Other files such as *.doc, *.docx, *.xls, *.txt and .eml are not displayed. Also I understand that there is someway to preview *.pdf
I don't know the technical language to describe this problem. When I click on the icon to display, say, all open programs of a type the previews pop up and then fall down again within about a second. The same thing happens with alt-tab... pressing alt-tab brings up the usual screen, but it disappears within a second preventing me from tabbing through anything even though I'm holding down alt. I'm going to install a keystroke monitor to see if something's stuck without me knowing it, but I don't get the keyboard failures on startup that I should get if that were true.
I have a some folders with lots of icons or lets say pictures. So when windows start to make thumbnails it can take some time and it's quite irritating. I've noticed, that it only happens when I restart, so when the thumbnails are created they probably stores at some location and after restart they are deleted. Is there a way to save those thumbnails or previews so when I access specific folders they will show right away with no delays?
My computer at my work has Multi-screen, I've got 8 Monitor on my computer and I use them all to my work --the Primary is my desktop and the other 7 is for informations to my clients at work.
Now here is my problem,
When I'm going the mouse to taskbar over the Thumbnails (I want to right click...and Close or Maximize-minimize) all the other Windows are getting "Disappear" --Minimize
And I don't want my other monitors to get Minimize!! I only want to close-minimize-maximize the selected Window and nothing else! I don't want my clients to see an empty screen
I'm running Windows 7 Utlimate 64bit, just started happening , when I click a folder or program on my desktop won't launch the program only will show in the THUMBNAIL TASKBAR on bottom and I can see the preview whats opened when I hoover over the program to launch as well NOTHING HAPPENS did I disable something I don't think
I have trouble with a particular position with the display windows. When I'm putting the mouse over the thumbnail window I see it correctly but the original windows is "transparent" I don't see the information to say that I do not see its contents as I have not clicked on the thumbnail, on other items just drag the pointer over the thumbnail for the full window visible.
Is there any way to speed up the time it takes to close the preview window? By default, it takes about 1.5 seconds for the window to close after moving the mouse off of the icon or preview pane.Turning off taskbar animations in the "visual effects" does not shorten the time. It just takes away the animation, but, it still takes about 1.5 seconds for the preview to go away.
pendrive and card reader thumbnail doesnt show in my computer, even i went to compmgmt disk management setting to change the drive path, its show same problem.
I'm running on Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and have Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended installed. Everything is updated but thumbnail preview for PDF files in Windows Explorer is not working.
I used to be able to view the cursor thumbnails like normal. But recently, the cursor thumbnail wouldn't show. I've attached a screenshot of it. I am still able to change my cursor, and it works fine, it's just, in the windows explorer the thumbnail of the cursor shows a Photoshop icon. Only the .cur file is affected, the .ani is not.
