I have an MS windows 7 64 bit system. I used CCleaner to clean the registry but did not backup the changes. I have lost my media and video thumbnail view for my movie files with an avi extension. I use both winamp and a VLC media player to play my movies and tv programs.Could the registry cleaning have changed something and is there a way to get the thumbnails back?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI just noticed today that my video and music files in explorer no longer show the album art or the video instead of the standard Icon when viewing large icons in folders. I think it is because I recently installed and uninstalled winamp. (thats the only thing I can think of) I cant do system restore because I had it disabled. I've tried reseting the search index, reseting folder options, going under performance and checking the settings there, nothing has changed. I really dont want to have to wipe and reinstall...
Here is a picture if you dont get what Im saying, as you can see in the folders it still displays the album art of the files but the actual mp3 files dont show it. The album art works fine in WMP.

I'm looking for a way to enlarge the thumbnail preview in Explorer. A person is scanning in PDF documents in large amounts and then using the thumbnail preview wants to be able to rename them from the default scanner assigned name. The current thumbnail size isn't big enough to see enough detail to rename the file without opening the document.

When I'm putting the mouse over the thumbnail window I see it correctly but the original windows is "transparent" I don't see the information to say that I do not see its contents as I have not clicked on the thumbnail, on other items just drag the pointer over the thumbnail for the full window visible.

View 0 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to speed up the time it takes to close the preview window? By default, it takes about 1.5 seconds for the window to close after moving the mouse off of the icon or preview pane.Turning off taskbar animations in the "visual effects" does not shorten the time. It just takes away the animation, but, it still takes about 1.5 seconds for the preview to go away.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI do a great deal of video editing and special effects on my Windows 7 (home premium, 64bit) laptop. Many of the stock footage clips I use are .mov files and a lot of the sound files I use are .wav and .mp3. Unfortunately, these files do not preview (They don't play) in the preview pane in Windows Explorer. .mp4 videos do preview, but I have not tested anything else. All of the above mention files play just fine in the standalone WMP. Do I need to download extra codecs to make them work in the preview pane?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have followed the guides online for disabling the Thumbnail cache in Windows 7(Specifically, the .db files generated when pictures are loaded in Windows Explorer)I disabled it via the tutorial on this website, I have also disabled it in Group Policy Editor... I cleared the existing cache, rebooted, and when i load directories with pictures in them, the .db file(s) are still being generated.I do not wish to disable the display of thumbnails in Windows Explorer...I realize this is the easiest method of ensuring they are not generated in the .db. However there must be a way to prevent windows from doing so.

View 0 Replies View RelatedI've concluded that having the desktop icons show a contextualized thumbnail of the file's content is more confusing than helpful. I have my icons set too small to be able to make out anything from most of the pictures, and the file extension is usually hidden.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have recently upgraded my box from XP Pro to Windows7 Ultimate and the first thing that I noticed was the icon pictures when using the Thumbnail view.
With XP Pro, when the Thumbnail viewing mode was used a miniature picture of the actual picture represented by the icon was actually displayed on the icon. If the icon represented a folder containing multiple pictures, then the folder was divided into quarters displaying 4 micro picture taken from within that folder.
Now when it comes to the same usage in Windows 7, I find when in the Thumbnail viewing mode. ALL such icons are now depicted as a generic icon that shows a picture view of a spit of land protruding into a body of water and as such, finding a particular photo/picture is far more awkward than before.
My question: Is there a way that I can remedy this shortfall and set up Windows 7 Thumbnail viewing mode so that I can once again view a miniature of the within picture having it displayed on the actual Thumbnail icon?
I can't see my pictures, only a generic with the download number. How can I change this back to seeing the actual picture so I know what I'm choosing without having to preview each one?
