I usually have IE windows open monitoring 6 different forums. When I hover the mouse over the IE icon on the task bar, the 6 IE windows show preview panes across the bottom of the desktop, in the order in which they were opened. Sometimes the order of these preview panes changes. What causes this? Where/how are these preview panes stored?
View 7 RepliesI've already added a Show desktop button in Quick Launch toolbar near the Start button, I don't wanna keep both of Show desktop buttons in left and right, thus wanna remove the right one newly introduced in Windows 7.
Is there any methods to do or workaround?
I know change the theme to other than Classic will not show you the button, However I like Classic theme so that won't change theme to others.
I just noticed today that my video and music files in explorer no longer show the album art or the video instead of the standard Icon when viewing large icons in folders. I think it is because I recently installed and uninstalled winamp. (thats the only thing I can think of) I cant do system restore because I had it disabled. I've tried reseting the search index, reseting folder options, going under performance and checking the settings there, nothing has changed. I really dont want to have to wipe and reinstall...
Here is a picture if you dont get what Im saying, as you can see in the folders it still displays the album art of the files but the actual mp3 files dont show it. The album art works fine in WMP.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI do a great deal of video editing and special effects on my Windows 7 (home premium, 64bit) laptop. Many of the stock footage clips I use are .mov files and a lot of the sound files I use are .wav and .mp3. Unfortunately, these files do not preview (They don't play) in the preview pane in Windows Explorer. .mp4 videos do preview, but I have not tested anything else. All of the above mention files play just fine in the standalone WMP. Do I need to download extra codecs to make them work in the preview pane?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm putting together a slide show of 3D images that I want to show on my TV next week when we have company.I would like the images to stay on the screen a little longer without having to actually create a slide show in some special application like Premiere.
The Slide Show function in Explorer works great if I can control the timing.
just completed a first-time new Windows 7 PC build. Successful installation of Windows 7 Pro on WD 600GB 10000 system drive. Went back and installed 4 additional HDD. (2) WD Caviar Black 1TB 7200 RPM and (2) WD Caviar 7200 500GB HDD from XP system that were used for storage.
BIOS sees all HDDs, but are not viewable in Disk Management.
System Specs:
Antec Nine Hundred
ASUS P6X58D-E MOBO

However, only three are visible in Disk Management. Missing (1) WD 500GB (previously used on WinXP system) and (1) new WD 1T.

Each time i open windows explorer to view my documents i get all my folders at the top and my files below. I have done everything to change this around and it does not work. View 5 Replies View RelatedI am trying to deselect an item in adobe_reader...edit. preferences. internet. display pdf in browser but the window doesn't scroll to the bottom where presumably the ok button is. I deselect display, close the window, reopen the window, and display. is reselected. I can't grab the window title bar and move to the bottom either because the window is already against the top of the screen and I can't seem to resize the window and get to the bottom that way. This problem has occurred in other windows from time to time also.
The people at my bank tell me I need to deselect this item for me to be able to access my account statements, which are presently not accessible, presumably because of this problem with "display pdf in browser".
so i installed windows 7 about a month ago but just yesterday started getting this issue where the bottom 1/3 of my screen is White and the other 2/3 works perfectly fine. I tried to take a screen shot to show what I meant but screen shots end up looking as if everything is normal.
I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T60p with ATI graphics card.
How can I tell if its my physical laptop screen that is having the issue versus my graphics card somehow screwing up? Does taking a screen shot and everything looks normal mean its my laptop screen??
This is giving me fits because I can't see my start menu so I have to guess where the search bar is to open programs. Plus I'd obviously prefer my whole screen works.

My passwords have not been recognized, the games are incredibly difficult to download and when they finally are something is always not Kosher. I put the cursor "under" screen at bottom, right click to show taskbar, then click on "Lock the taskbar". View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently just installed Windows 7 on my wife's laptop. It previously had Vista 64 bit and now of course has the 7 64 bit version.Everything has gone pretty smooth. There were a handful of drivers that needed installed but otherwise smooth. The only thing that remains finicky is sometimes I get flashing at the bottom of the screen only, like only taskbar width. I had it stopped after installing the newest driver from Nvidia but then when I ran the benchmark test from Windows for its rating system purely out of curiosity it started again. Initially once every 2 seconds now about every ten, and sometimes longer pauses inbetween. Which leads me to believe that it may be to taxing of the video card and it just glitches out when taxed. Although it seems it is probably a setting on the card/resolution/refresh rate/driver that probably needs adjusted to get it out of this little spat since it never had a single issue when I used Vista.

My current problem is, the desktop icon is missing from the (I think it is called) the systems tray. It's the "tray" at the bottom of the Window's screen. It was there when I first started Windows but soon after I noticed that it is missing. Is there any way to get the desktop icon back? It made it much easier to get to the desktop from another program.
