Each day, the first time I opening 'any' existing Microsoft Works Word Processor file that I have, such as ones I have for phone numbers, addresses, etc., I have to wait about 45 seconds for the file to open. And while I'm waiting, I can't do anything else on the computer. Any of those files I open the rest of the day, open immediately. It's just the first time each day.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently ran into an issue where this installation on Windows 7 Pro 32-bit is trying to open up all my programs in Word, they all have the MS word icon as well, so for instance, when I click on Nero, it will try to open it up in word and we get an error because it is not a word file. This is on all Program .exe files. There are no options to change the file association in the default programs in control panel. I have only seen a few fixes for this which involve the registry, I have checked these, however, all registry keys are correct. System restore fails as well, have tried multiple restore points to no avail. We have also ran norton, and malwarebytes on the system is it runs clean.

I have 4 gigs ram labtop with duel core 1.3mhz 500 gig HD lots people either say its mother board or the HD.
I say I don't mind but it does bother me, i expect it to be faster... is avast slowing everything down? I have played around with the options on windows to speed it up and I can increase speed a bit but to me as long im not gaming (this is a cheaper labtop) I expect it to be quick...
I open a file and its a delay at least 30 secs. programs 1 -2min if it opens at all. I really want a test to explain issue. I be kinda mad if send it back to toshiba and wait a month to be told its not mother board or they don't cover it or blame it on me.... so I rather fix my self if I can.
I normally use Word 2003 for documents, although I use Outlook 2010. This morning I opened a Word 2010 document and after quite a while of some sort of an installation, I was able to open the Word 2010 document. I did not think too much of it, except that later I was sending an e-mail and attached a Word 2003 document and when I went to check it (i.e. open it up) it opened in Word 2010. How do I disable Word 2010 as my default program to open Word documents. I do not want to uninstall the program, but at this point I am not ready to learn how to use Word 2010.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAll of a sudden today, whenever I open up any program/application (firefox, control panel, documents) the actual window comes up pretty slowly. I don't know if it's a huge problem but it's pretty annoying. Before, if I were to open firefox, the client would open up automatically but now it slowly opens and kind of fades into the screen. I don't think my computer got slower all of a sudden, because it is working fine and it was perfect just yesterday. The same problem happens when I close a window, it slowly fades away instead of just instantly closing.

I have one very annoying problem with this but I bet there is a way to fix it.Here's what I do - I highlight several files in the right pane, I hold down the right-mouse-button over the selected files, I drag them over to a folder in the left pane, and then the annoyance happens. If I don't drop those files immediately into that folder, the entire list of sub-folders pops open as if I hit the little plus to the left of the folder. What makes this a major annoyance is that the folder I wanted to move into has now changed its position in the left pane because the sub-folders popped open.
Now, sometimes I desperately need the sub-folder list to open because I forgot to find the folder I needed before moving the files. It is a nice feature. However, if only I could increase the delay-time. I'd like to give myself triple the time to drop the files into the folder before the sub-folder list opens. There has to be a registry tweak for this.
