I re raided the 2 raptors and connected them to the jmicron ports and set them up for raid in bios, then created the raid 0 array no prob. Windows doesnt see the array when loaded up and i have the latest rst drivers installed..did this prior to the os install on the ssd. using the x58 e760a1 mobo. under device manager, the raid controller has an exclamation mark and no driver installed yet i have the latest rst 10.8.0.1003 installed..
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was recently deploying Windows 7 on an older PC(not too old) and in the upgrade proccess it said setup could not continue and rolled back my upgrade. I suspect that it is because of the raid, because it stopped in the middle of the expanding files stage.
The driver version on there is 1.0.0.62, which I believe is the most recent for vista, so can I rule this out as a reason. Theres 50GB free for upgrade.
So I installed the Windows Seven RC x64 today on my desktop machine after having a great experience on my notebook.
Most things worked out just fine, but the onboard raid controller is giving me alot of trouble (I got two hard disks connected there, should be raid0?), my mainboard is a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3 an this is SiSoft Sandras report on my disk controllers:
Browsing this forum I found severel interesting posts, for example I tested the drivers of Driver and I tried the mainboard drivers for Vista in compatibility mode, but nothing works. I also looked for the "ITE IT8212 ATA RAID Controller" drivers directly, but there was nothing concerning Windows Seven. After that I tried the Released: Intel Chipset Software 9.1.1.1014 but that still did not solve anything.
I have a W7 64 bit machine and I am trying to update the RAID controller driver without success.I am blocked by W7 from updating the driver and get the "Windows has determined that the best driver is already installed" message.I have tried to work around that and have been unsuccessful.Ultimately I am trying to enable a program "Hard Disk Sentinel" to view and display hard disk SMART info. Unfortunately the RAID driver controlling the HDD's on my PC have a date signature of 2009 and need to be updated to take advantage of SMART information technology

I've just upgraded to windows 7 from xp, and HP doesnt seem to make drivers for my old laptop anymore, though windows 7 is running pretty smoothly! I've just installed Windows 7 RC build 7100 onto my system. As always like with Vista installations in the past, I run into this problem. I have a DFI Lanparty NF4 Ultra-D motherboard and for some reason my RAID drive doesn't show up. I can see the two HDs I have set up as a raid appear and separate individual drives under My Computer but can't access them unless I format them which is something I dont want to do. I checked under Device Manager and under Stoare Controllers, NVIDIA nForce RAID Controller is installed...but I think I'm missing the proper RAID tool? I'm not too sure about this.
My Device Manager lists everything as installed, but each time I restart my computer and boot up, the computer is trying to install some drives but "Failed." The prompt says, "Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller" x3, and all 3 Failed to install. I have no idea if this is the actual problem because I'm trying to get my RAID Stripe to work and they are both on SATA connections and not IDE...I have tried a few sets of nForce packs such as Fernandos_XP_64bit_nForce4-5_non-AHCI_WHQL_PACK_v5.4 but no avail.
I am trying to upgrade from Windows Vista 32 bit to Windows 7 32 bit but when booting from the upgrade disk it has problems finding my HDD's and says that windows cannot be installed on them once found.
When choosing a clean install from loading the disk from within Vista it starts to install and then when it restarts it brings up a blue screen saying that windows cannot be installed and is I have installed any new HDD's or controllers then on uninstall them.
When trying to upgrade at first it was complaining about the ATI ACHI Compatable RAID controller not being compatable but now it starts to do the install and then on restart it does the same as the clean install.
Anyone managed to find Windows 7 compatiable drivers for "GigaRAID ITE8212 IDE RAID controller"?
I tried using the Vista drivers in compatibilty mode but no luck unfortunately. Issue being is that my 2nd internal hard drive is not showing up in My Computer however it is listed in device manager. This is the only item left in device manager that isnt installed properly :-(
I checked my motherboard drivers page @ GIGABYTE - Product - Motherboard - Specification - GA-8I955X Pro but they only have Vista drivers listed.
I've been trying to find the drivers suitable for Windows SEVEN. I need it to use a couple of hdd in pair with RAID configuration. Before anything :I tried the RAID with VISTA64 and worked perfectly so I don't need to set that part in bios..etc..
So now it's SEVEN turn... I simply can't find the drivers... it says that they are not signed by microsoft so they can't be used.
I was trying with some controller RAID drivers from other MB...newer versions but I haven't found any good luck by far.
Does anyone know where I might find the 64 bit ".inf" drivers for Windows 7 64 bit?

My plan was to put them in raid using the onboard ICH10R controller on my mobo (an ASUS Sabertooth X58). Im curious if there is a way to change the timeout for the drives in the matrix storage controller? So if I do have an issue my raid won't die (I'll be using these drives in raid 0 for gaming only). I dont care about the data, I just don't want to have to go thru the hassle of reinstalling the games should a drive get dropped from the array. I am thinking about getting a wd green 2tb drive for backups but just curious if there is a way to change timeout via the controller.
edit: And by change timeout I mean how long the controller waits for the disk before dropping it from the array, like could i set it too 2.5 mins just to be sure?
My win 7 machine boots perfectly with two SATA mirrored drives and a Promise Ultra 133 TX2 IDE controller card with no drives attached. But when I connect drives to either IDE1 or IDE2, the machine will not even get to win start up.

It used to work and now it don't?? During boot up I see the drive in the bios messages on my screen. Also when I look in device manager it shows the drive and says this device is working properly. However, when I click on "computer" its not there and no software program such as backup finds the drive either. I have tried uninstalling the drive in device manager and then rebooting. No luck? I am not sure when it quit working or why. Its not the drive as I have tried more than one and they are recognized when used in the USB port. I have uninstalled the Marvell 61xx RAID controller in the device manager also but no change?

Very little, all the parts were shipped here about four days ago and I spent a couple of hours putting them together. I ran into a hiccup when Windows 7 Home Premium would not get past the extracting phase of the installation, kicking up the error in this thread. I began the first install on a 20GB partition, when that failed I tried just installing it on a single partition. When that failed I tried removing all the partitions and just installing on the unformatted drive, in it's entirety (seemed weird but others said they had luck with this).Testing Methodology:
At the end of each attempted solution I tried to install Windows again. My keyboard is a USB keyboard. All of my boot testing is done with a bootable USB that I have running MS-DOS 6.22. What I Have Tried:Solution 1: First I went into the bios and changed the SATA controller from AHCI to Raid SATA Result = FAILEDSolution 2: I tried burning OEM Windows disk from Microsoft to an iso at the lowest speed possible for my DVD burner (4x).Result = FAILEDSolution 3: At this point I had created and deleted so many partitions I was concerned it may be having an effect on the install. So I went to Samsung's website and grabbed their HDD utility tool. I figured let's kill two birds with one stone and test the drive while also restoring it to it's original state. So I did a low level format and then ran the HDD diagnostic. All came back with no errors. Result = FAILED
On to memory...Solution 4: I downloaded Microsoft's Memory Diagnostic Tool and let it run overnight. It returned no errors. So I decided to use MemTest86 4.1 and let it run for 10 passes, I did find errors then. As of now I am running each module of memory one by one to determine if it is a problem with them or the sockets on the motherboard. So far I have been unable to reproduce the errors I got when both modules were running together. As a precaution I double checked the motherboards specifications on the socket order for memory, all is to specs. Result = [PENDING]What's Next:After my current memory test ends, I plan on checking my BIOS to see if the correct memory speeds were detected in the auto detection. If at that point I'm still unable to reproduce the memory errors, I'll put both memory modules back into the system and run the testing again to see if I can reproduce the errors I got the first time.
i purchased a Silicon SiI3512 SATA Raid Controller purely to have 2 extra SATA ports which I am using to connect to my case's external drive bays. I have flashed the bios of the controller and updated the driver to put it in "Base" mode so it is not using RAID. I did extensive research on this and it appears that I have this part right. For now, I am trying to connect a WD1600BEVT 2.5" SATA-II hard drive to one of these ports and am having some difficulty. I can see the drive, but when I try to format the drive in Windows, or a command prompt (using the windows recovery DVD) it hangs. I am wondering if this is a compatibility issue with a SATA-II drive on a SATA-I controller, however, most of the forums I have read state that if there is a compatibility issue, the controller won't even recognize the drive. I searched around to see if there was a way to force the HDD to SATA(150), but the jumpers on this drive are for SSC and RPS. Is there a way to fix this or do I need a drive that is capable of forcing SATA-I speeds? Perhaps even a controller capable of at least SATA-II since that is the minimum of all new HDDs?

I have a mature Windows 7 system, with so many applications loaded that rebuilding from scratch is just not an option. I have a 300MB Velociraptor wholly given over to the OS and another empty 300MB VR. I want to extend, that may not be the right word, my OS to use both disks in Raid 0.
I've recently bought ST-Lab A142 PCI ATA 133 IDE Card to make RAID to make RAID from my 2 HDD drives 60GB each.
It comes with a cd on which there are drivers for win 2000/xp/vista 32/64bit. But no mention of Windows 7. I am trying to install Windows 7 x64 on this RAID but it doesn't see RAID. I've tried downloading the lates drivers from ST-Lab official site but with no success, Windows 7 just doesn't want to install them. Is there any solution u can advice?
I had to move the hard drive that I installed W7rc on to a SATA port that is configured in the BIOS as a raid. Now it will not startup because it needs the raid driver installed.
How can I install that driver?
I have tried "Startup repair" and it tells me it can not fix the problem. I tried to do an upgrade and you all know what it said. Must boot into that os first then do the upgrade.
I have 2x 500GB Western Digital WD5001AALS Caviar Blacks. View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to install Windows 7 x64 Ultimate on a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3 (rev 2.0)
and everytime i do the install fails and the install is then rolled back.
I currently have Vista x32 installed on Gigabyte Raid 0 (there's also an intel raid option but i've never used it). The Vista install runs fine and i've never had a problem.
When i try to install using the GA-P35-DS3 (rev 2.0) raid drivers from the Gigabytes site i get the usual microsoft grumbles about unsigned drivers but then the install seems to go OK from there until the install completes and reboots. At this point it errors out and reboots into the OS rollback install.
Does anyone know if this is an issue with this driver or does anyone have a link to another driver?
