I am going to be getting 2 new WD10EALS drives in the next day or so. My plan was to put them in raid using the onboard ICH10R controller on my mobo (an ASUS Sabertooth X58). I had wanted to run WDTLER to turn TLER on, but after reading some reviews it seems I might not be able to as it is reported WD disabled TLER on these drives completely.
Im curious if there is a way to change the timeout for the drives in the matrix storage controller? So if I do have an issue my raid won't die (I'll be using these drives in raid 0 for gaming only). I dont care about the data, I just don't want to have to go thru the hassle of reinstalling the games should a drive get dropped from the array. I am thinking about getting a wd green 2tb drive for backups but just curious if there is a way to change timeout via the controller.
edit: And by change timeout I mean how long the controller waits for the disk before dropping it from the array, like could i set it too 2.5 mins just to be sure?
I'm trying to download the latest Intel Matrix Storage Manager. I'm using Windows 7 HP 64 Bit. I went to Intel and downloaded the one I thought was for my operating system but when I tried to install it I was told that my OS was not the right one for that download.
I am using an Asus x58 P6TDeluxe and running Windows 7 x64 OEM. I have tried installing the chipset driver and intel matrix storage manager driver (to get SAS working) but both say "Does not support this operating system WNT_6.0P_64_MCE" and "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing this software. Setup will exit".
After completing the Windows 7 64 bit install, the screen goes black with a white blinking cursor. After rebooting the screen freezes at the Starting Windows screen which should proceed with the configuration of the Windows 7 install (select computer & user name, etc.) Before the Starting Windows screen there is the following message: Boot from AHCI CD-ROM or something similar. This was not present when XP was running successfully. Throughout this process I ran into a BSOD which mentioned iaStorV.sys which apparently relates to the Intel Matrix Storage Manager as explained here.
Action Taken:
-I tried repairing the windows installation using the Windows 7 DVD, but it could not find anything. -I tried booting into safe mode, but it said Windows needs to install first. Version Numbers & BIOS Setetings: ThinkStation S10 6423 CTO Flash EEPROM Revision Level: 2WKT32AUS
I installed yesterday my new Windows 7 32bits i put it on my new Intel 160gb gen 2 with 02HD firmware and started installing drivers.
I installed Intel SSD Toolbox - v1.2 just for curiosity because i know i didn´t need it for trim, i read agood part of the manual (requirements and similar stuff) and i thought i was ready to install the Intel SSD Toolbox - v1.2. AFTER other stuff i decided to see a little more of the toolbox manual and I FOUND IN PAG 13!!!!!!! THAT ONE SHOULDN´T INSTALL matrix storage driver BECAUSE THEN ONE REALLY NEED TO USE THE TOOLBOX for trim!!!!!!!! IT SAYS THIS IN THE Schedule SECTION!!! (INSTED IN THE BEGIN WITH EG THE TITULE I M P O R T A N T):
6. If your PC uses Microsoft Windows 7 and the Intel Matrix Storage Manager version 8.x (which can be used in place of the Microsoft AHCI driver), then the Intel SSD Optimizer tool is required to enable the ATA Data Set Management Command (Trim).
NOW I LOST LOTS OFF HOURS AROUND THESE, INSTED OF EXPLORING MY NEW OS AND SSD ONLY TO FIND THAT althoug i uninstaled this matrix thing I NEED TO REINSTALL THE OS BECAUSE matrix storage driver MANUAL SAYS THAT TO REMOVE THE DRIVER ONE NEEDS TO REINSTALL THE OS!!!!!!!!!
Does someone knows a workround this ANNOYNCE? i have already lots of stuff installed and configurated
i don´t use raid but i want AHCI (I HAVE IT ENABLED IN THE SATA CONFIG IN THE BIOS before the OS install) I cant see Intel(R) SATA AHCI Controller in the 'IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers' entry in device manager but i see this:
Installed a new M4 ssd today and loaded windows on it. Previously i was using 2 raptors in raid 0 for the os and programs. I re raided the 2 raptors and connected them to the jmicron ports and set them up for raid in bios, then created the raid 0 array no prob. Windows doesnt see the array when loaded up and i have the latest rst drivers installed..did this prior to the os install on the ssd. using the x58 e760a1 mobo. under device manager, the raid controller has an exclamation mark and no driver installed yet i have the latest rst 10.8.0.1003 installed..
Which configuration would be better using mobo sats 2 raid or using seperate rid controller via pcie card Rosewill Rc-211 wsis3132) or should I use mobo for raid and card for extra sata w/o raid I have more drives than sata slots. How do I transfer data videos/Tv shows from existing drive to raid?
I had it installed previously on my computer, but it was in Program Files x86, so I uninstalled it and tried to reinstall, but am greeted by a blank install box that I cannot read. The only visible option is the OK button which cancels the install. [code] I am running Win 7 64 bit on a P6TD Deluxe board with my main drive a CORSAIR CMFSSD-128GBG2D.
I can't find my ssd in intel rapid storage technology, ahci and raid. Because I want to use it for caching. It's detected in the bios and windows explorer. My ssd is corsair sata3 60gb running the latest firmware 1.3.3
I put two HDDs on GA P55A-UD4P motherboard in Raid1 type array (on Intel SATA Controller) and they were working fine for quite some time (2 weeks or so). One day, after Windows started up, I noticed a blue icon on Intel RST manager and it says that the array is initializing. Will it delete the data that is stored in there already ? As far as I know, initialization is needed in Raid5 type arrays, where parity needs to be calculated. Raid1 is a pure mirror so what would be the need for initialization right now with data in the array already?
I received this message today on my screen. I went to Intel but could not understand what they were telling me to do something about BIOS nnd Sata and now I'm lost. My computer has just slowed down to a crawl these last 4 or 5 days, could this be the problem. I'm a novice and quite lost. My browsers and mail programs are working at a crawl.
I recently purchased a 64GB Crucial M4 SSD and I'm trying to install Windows 7 with the Raid controller on a fresh HDD to meet the requirements for Intel's SRT. I'm trying to install Windows from a Mesh OEM disk but when it gets to the installation completion window an error pops up saying ''Windows setup could not configure windows on this computers hardware''.Windows installs fine under IDE/AHCI controller but that doesn't help me!
I've just installed Windows 7 RC build 7100 onto my system. As always like with Vista installations in the past, I run into this problem. I have a DFI Lanparty NF4 Ultra-D motherboard and for some reason my RAID drive doesn't show up. I can see the two HDs I have set up as a raid appear and separate individual drives under My Computer but can't access them unless I format them which is something I dont want to do. I checked under Device Manager and under Stoare Controllers, NVIDIA nForce RAID Controller is installed...but I think I'm missing the proper RAID tool? I'm not too sure about this.
My Device Manager lists everything as installed, but each time I restart my computer and boot up, the computer is trying to install some drives but "Failed." The prompt says, "Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller" x3, and all 3 Failed to install. I have no idea if this is the actual problem because I'm trying to get my RAID Stripe to work and they are both on SATA connections and not IDE...I have tried a few sets of nForce packs such as Fernandos_XP_64bit_nForce4-5_non-AHCI_WHQL_PACK_v5.4 but no avail.
My Windows 7 is running slow however it is different from simply lagging. The mouse works fine however clicking on applications does not bring them up. The only difference I can see is an error message coming up saying "Intel Rapid Storage Technology not working". Any ideas on what I should do or extra information you require?
We'll I've found others with similar issues, but none exactly like this. Have the HDD and SDD setup on RAID0 due to using IRST. 64Gb of the SDD is allocated as RAID0. When W7 prompts me to select the drive for W7 installation the only disk that appears is the 64Gb unallocated SDD sector.I've loaded the IRST 64bit drivers from the ASUS Mobo disk too. It recognizes the file I direct it to, but once loaded it still only recognizes the 64Gb unallocated SDD.
I have a problem with migration from AHCI to RAID on existing win 7 x64. I had AHCI HDD connected to marvell SATA 6gbit controller. I wanted to create RAID 0 on intel controller (ICH10) I created hdd image in acronis. Enabled RAID in bios and Created RAID 0 disk (2 x hdd) Restored from image to new raid hdd . When I try to boot win i get blue screen . error 0x0000007B ( so win cant recognize hdd)When I boot from win CD installer have access to raid disk what shall I do? I my opinion system doesn't have access to raid drivers. (maybe missing registry entries) i system32/drivers i have file iastor.sys but probably there is no registry entries how to add registry entries to system? How can I boot system??? ( in rescue mode windows also doesn't start)
i just installed Windows 7 64bit on My Laptop [code] After it installedi it. i had a 1 Conflict in My Hardware Device List it said i had No Driver Installed on The Mass Storage Controller. i have tried using the gateway drivers but it said it would not work with this Version of Windows.i tried doing Windows Update it says no Drivers Found any clues where i can get one?????
I have got very lucky and acquired a Microworks Black-Hawk XR-5 gaming laptop. Basic story is that my father's company purchased it to run a very complicated program and the laptop ended up not working with it. So it's been collecting dust for years until I picked it up and began using it. The laptop had XP on it when I got it, but I soon installed Windows 7 and that went rather smoothly, except one thing. The Mass Storage Controller is missing a driver? Windows can't seem to figure out what driver I need either, as going through the automatic updates solves nothing and it keeps telling me that Windows can't find the driver software. I'd simply go to the manufacturer and find what driver I need, however, Microworks seems to no longer have a page. So, I have absolutely no idea what to do.
have loaded windows 7 7000 on two test machines, desktop running fine. clean installs in both cases. toshiba satellite a200 runs faster than vista, better shutdown et al, but has a quality index of 2.0 due to driver not loading for mass storage controller, pci memory controller and one unnamed device under other devices.
tried loading the drivers for vista for mass storage controller and chipset under compatibility mode which installed but not recognized by windows 7.
anyone with a toshiba laptop get their msc functioning? any ideas?
how to resolve my driver issue. i have a laptop.. it's Lg Xnote Ls40a. I downloaded it's old OS into new OS of Windows 7, now There's some drivers issue arises. and i need to resolve it, luckily i manage to dowload few drivers, i only need to find the Mass storage Controller for my Lg ls40. but im not fortunate to find the drivers
i just installed Windows 7.. 64bit on My LaptopGateway MT6451 Chipset ATI Xpress 200 (RS480) Rev 10 Southbridge ATI SB400 Rev 80BiosBrand Phoenix Technoligies LTDVersion 84.06After it installed it. i had a 1 Conflict in My Hardware Device List it said i had No Driver Installed on The Mass Storage Controller. i have tried using the gateway drivers but it said it would not work with this Version of Windows.i tried doing Windows Update it says no Drivers Found
I have this issue going on since i installed windows 7--32 bit on a new partition.
Firstly In the 'device manager' I see 'Mass Storage Controller' which shows me a yellow sign of exclaimation & the following message pops up when 'right clicked' on 'properties' ;''The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)There is no driver selected for the device information set or element. To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver''
Secondly; In the 'device manager' below the 'Mass Storage Controller' name/driver it shows a name/driver called 'Unknown Device' again with yellow sign of exclaimation as mentioned above & When 'right clicked' on its properties I get the same error message as mentioned above.
Thirdly;None of the External buttons on my laptop for web cam, volume etc present are working. They only work with my vista OS but not with windows 7.
Now What drivers do u recommend & Where can i find the specific drivers for windows 7 beta to function without any further driver issues or other issues as mentioned above
Also When i plug in my usb external hard drive it shows me a message ''Do u want to scan the drive or continue without scanning'' & i tried both the ways/methods but still my files stored in usb e.xternal hard drive drive freeze & therefore dont respond immediately when i try to view or open them. Did reinstall, update everything but couldnt solve it.
