I installed new folders, then decided I wanted to move them to become subfolders of another folder. Drag & drop (left-click) moved the folders to become subfolders, but left the folder icons in the old location as well. When I try to delete them, I get an error message saying the folder doesn't exist at that location. OK, it shouldn't, but why can't I/how do I delete the (old) folder icons?
View 4 RepliesDue to a NTFS hickup, a folder (1,3TB) ended wrongly up inside the system volume information (win7) folder. Wanted to move it back to it's root, but to no avail...
Tried take ownership, cacls, safe mode, tools etc.
Need to to really move it, because the 2TB disc had no room to do a copy. It's really a FAT/NTFS table issue.
I don't have a clue how I'd search for the topic. I mistakenly moved my MS Office folder out of the start menu, all programs, and cannot figure out how to put it back in there. I looked around the computer but can't find a place to put it back

View 2 Replies View RelatedI had to do a system restore to a prior point (two days ago) to fix a problem on a windows 7 dell PC. It worked but it moved all of my files and user profile to my C drive. I no longer see my user account when I go to start computer. I did find my files (at least some of them) under the c drive in C/OS/Users. Is there a way to automatically get them all back where they orginally were rather than attempt to manually move them and hope I'm placing them in the correct area? I also seem to have lost all of my bookmarks and cannot recover them on Firefox - is there any way to get them back?

I was uninstalling windows live essential on my profile and added ms office outlook 2007 for email. For some reason, when changing users to my wife's profile, the desktop has to be prepared each time - as a temporary profile. The folder location has moved from Users/wife to Users/Users/wife and has a lock icon on it. I have tried moving the entire folder as administrator and received a not responding message.Short of a restore in which I will lose data is there a way to 'import' her profile under a new user and then delete the corrupted profile?

I need to create shortcuts to all these images but I need the shortcut to be created in the same folder as the original image. How can I do this without selecting each file individually and creating the shortcut? With Windows XP, the images would stay in order as I added them, but with Windows 7 they are always in order of the image name. I have tried using the different sort by date options, but they are always sorted by the image name (which is a 5 digit number). How can I sort them by the date I add them to the folder?

Each time I come back to this folder, windows will take like 8 or 10 seconds to load them all. I don't think it rebuilds thumnails, which would take even much longer, no it seems it reloads and resorts.
Anyway to speed this up so it will load instantly ?

View 5 Replies View RelatedIn old windows, when you renamed a photo, it stayed in the same place in relation to all the other photos in the folder until you closed and then reopened the folder. Now in 7 and vista, as soon as you rename it, it gets reordered in the folder by name. It jumps away from its current position. With 250 photos in the folder, its hard to get it back.I need information on the photo to rename the next photo. Any way to make it stay in place till the folder is opened and closed? It's not MY DOCUMENTS, but rather, the Libraries-Documents folder (versus the my documents under my user profile/name).The folder is FULL of garbage.This includes things that appear to be "temp files" (but with valid file types such as jpg, mp3)also in there doc files, png, tdb, diz, ebc, and others I don't even recognize. Some of these things include package files from the Sims series games (there were a TON of them in there) and others included pictures that I did NOT save locally (as if it were a temp file from the web)There are even many duplicates of some of these pictures. The problem here is that this folder falls somewhere in the middle of the rest of the folders when I sort alphabetically (which isn't very pretty). Would it be possible to get this folder after the rest of the folders?

tried everything to delete this folder on my external HDD, yet nothing works. Every time I try to delete it says "You require permission to change this folder." Changed the permissions. Nothing. I even managed to get the lock off of the folder but it still wont delete. I restarted my computer, downladed LockHunter and a couple other programs.
