I look in Files, and I see a list of everything, including photos. So when I look inside'photos,'. All I have is a folder for..'Video.' How can I get the photos inside the photo folder?
After I forced a shutdown on my computer recently, and rebooted it, all of my folders have gotten all messed up.Before that, folders with lots of pictures used to show icons by default etc., and the file organization was completely different. Now, I can reorganize everything as much as I want, but when I close the folder and open it back up again, nothing has sticked. I might as well not have done it at all. What should I do?I managed to fix it myself by deleting explorer.exe and copying a new one from the backup.The problem seems to persist every time I reboot the computer though. I wonder what's up. For now I'll have to copy and paste the exe every time I boot it up I guess.

Now when it gets ready to send it says some stuff about Skydrive, about some photo album and wants me to log in somewhere. I don't want any of that. I want the old tried and true method I had under plain jane Windows Mail before. How do I make WLM 2011 behave like the old WM? I just want to select, resize and send the way it used to work under WM!!!!!
View 9 Replies View RelatedDue to a NTFS hickup, a folder (1,3TB) ended wrongly up inside the system volume information (win7) folder. Wanted to move it back to it's root, but to no avail...
Tried take ownership, cacls, safe mode, tools etc.
Need to to really move it, because the 2TB disc had no room to do a copy. It's really a FAT/NTFS table issue.
I currently use Windows Live Photo gallery to edit and organise my photos. Its worked fine until recently.. after editing a photo yesterday I clicked on the arrow button to move onto the next image and as usual a dialogue box popped up telling me it was saving the changes made to the photo and I could click to revert to the original at any time. I moved onto the next image but realised that I'd forgotten to do something and clicked to go back, but the image had gone. I've searched through all my photos and looked in my recyle bin, but the image is nowhere to be found. I may be missing something obvious of course, but I'm scratching my head to know what has happened.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI installed new folders, then decided I wanted to move them to become subfolders of another folder. Drag & drop (left-click) moved the folders to become subfolders, but left the folder icons in the old location as well. When I try to delete them, I get an error message saying the folder doesn't exist at that location. OK, it shouldn't, but why can't I/how do I delete the (old) folder icons?

I want to plug in the stick and see the thumbnails for all the media files immediately.is there a way to store the cached thumbnail information right inside a folder to make it "portable"?

My question is, is that normal? How did it get there and how do I correct it if it isn't suppose to be there.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI formatted my PC to another installation of Windows 7 Ultimate(also the one I had before the format).
Now before I formatted windows on drive C:, I encrypted a folder with Bitlocker. Now this folder was on another harddrive D: on my PC. After the format on C: drive, I cannot access any files in the encrypted folder anymore. The folder is color green(so are all the files inside) and when clicking on any file inside, it tells me "you don't have access to open this file".
I have numerous folders each of which contain jpg images. I need to create shortcuts to all these images but I need the shortcut to be created in the same folder as the original image. How can I do this without selecting each file individually and creating the shortcut? I have tried using the search facility to identify all the jpgs but can only create shortcuts to the desktop this way.

With Windows XP, the images would stay in order as I added them, but with Windows 7 they are always in order of the image name. I have tried using the different sort by date options, but they are always sorted by the image name (which is a 5 digit number). How can I sort them by the date I add them to the folder?

Each time I come back to this folder, windows will take like 8 or 10 seconds to load them all. I don't think it rebuilds thumnails, which would take even much longer, no it seems it reloads and resorts.
Anyway to speed this up so it will load instantly ?
heavy-handed cruising down my Favorites list accidentally drags an innocent Favorites folder inside of the folder above or below where the disappeared folder was. I confidently go to "Organize favorites" and pull up the list of favorites. Problem is: I can't just drop & drag a folder that's stuck inside of another folder. It just gets jerked back inside of the wrong folder. The stuck folder is forever stuck as it seems like all I am allowed to move are folders which are lined up neatly against the left margin of the list, not one that is hiding in the wrong place.

View 5 Replies View RelatedIn old windows, when you renamed a photo, it stayed in the same place in relation to all the other photos in the folder until you closed and then reopened the folder. Now in 7 and vista, as soon as you rename it, it gets reordered in the folder by name. It jumps away from its current position. With 250 photos in the folder, its hard to get it back.I need information on the photo to rename the next photo. Any way to make it stay in place till the folder is opened and closed? I can't find anything here in the forum or in folder properties, etc

I used to be able to have my images come up as thumbnails without having to Right Click > View > Large Icons everytime. Also I used to have filmstrip option.here's where prob isUploaded with ImageShack.usevery time i go to upload a picture it comes up as a list.Now when I explore the folder via Desktop > b > Girls the images come up as thumbnails as i've set it for all folders already. The files/photos are definitely on the hard drive and I can view them with the Picasa Photo Viewer (they're in Nikon's raw format, NEF).However, when I open both Picasa and Nikon's Capture NX2 to edit and convert to JPEG's, neither program recognizes the folder I saved the photos to. The new folder is not in the list of folders in the My Pictures library.

And the software itself has to be installed inside "Program Files" too, otherwise it won't work correctly (it's a new release and still a bit buggy).Now, when I add something to this library, it's supposed to be present in the library folder. BUT Win 7 doesn't show me any files that have been created by programs inside the "Program Files" folder. The folder where the new library is supposed to be is empty. But the library is there inside the program, so it has to be somewhere.Now, how am I supposed to backup those files if I can't access them?

View 5 Replies View RelatedExplorer won't update thumbnails after I alter a photo, for example by rotating sideways photos (that is, permanently rotating, using a photo editor program), or by cropping.
How do I get the thumbnails to update?
This is happening for all photos (not just certain ones).
I have tried:
- View > Refresh
- Copying the photos to a new folder and renaming them. Even if a photo has been drastically cropped, the thumbnail is still showing the original, whole one - that is, it's showing parts of the file that DON'T EVEN EXIST
- Entirely disabling the thumbnail cache: Group Policy Editor > 'Turn off caching of thumbnails in hidden thumbs.db files'. This *must* force Windows to redraw the thumbnail - but it doesn't!
- Restarting computer after each of the above steps
Win 7 Pro, 64 bit. Photos are jpegs from a new digital camera.
my win 7 photo viewer does the weirdest thing!! when i view my photos and rotate them and close the viewer, they disappear from my folder where they were originally stored in. i've checked my deleted items. no luck. searched whole pc for edited files and names of files that disappeared. no luck there either. i tested it on my hubby's pc. exact same result there.
