View 2 RepliesAs reported elsewhere, I had some issues with my Win 7 installation which involved more fiddling than needed but most everything is working again. Why more than needed? In the list of possible solutions, I was given the one that fixed the big problem last. C'est la vie. Now, I get to fiddle with fixing little problems. The latest is that Windows Fax and Scan are no longer workingI have a modem in my computer solely for when I send faxes. With the way that they keep eliminating slots on motherboards, I don't know what I'll do when I upgrade but that's neither here nor there. Back to the story.
A couple weeks ago, I sent a fax without any issues. Today, I needed to send one and Window Fax and Scan couldn't find the modem. When I click on "Connect to a fax modem" I get "an error occured. Please try the operation later."I opened a console and sent some AT commands to the modem and it responded. Off hook, on hook, dial. It is set as COM 3. I do have a Bluetooth dongle that is COM 6.Before Win 7, I used WinFax Pro. I had been using WinFax for years and years and never had a problem. However, WinFax Pro doesn't work with Win 7. One last question. When I started up WFS, it no longer shows my previously sent faxes. Where are those hidden?
I just upgraded a friend's HP desktop from Vista to Win 7. The Qwest 11n wireless adapter (actually an Actiontec 802ain) which worked fine in Vista, now has a problem. Everytime the computer is turned off and turned back on, the wireless adaptor disappears from Control Panel>Network Adapters, we need to reload the driver. The driver installation file is loaded on the adapter, we re-install it by unplugging/re-plugging the adapter into the usb port.It is kind of an odd install.t first the adapter shows up as a flash drive and autoplay prompts you to run Setup.exe., then it no longer shows up as a flashdrive._Windows_7.pdfso I do not have to reinstall the driver every time I turn on the computer? It was not like that on Vista.I am wondering if there is a service or something that needs to be started. Both Qwest and Actiontec have no ideas, they say the device is compatible with Windows 7.
View 9 Replies View RelatedAfter an upgrade from Windows XP to Windows Vista 32 (all drivers, modem, audio, etc. found on Gateway support windows vista 86/64)to Windows Business N 64 I cannot find certain drivers that are compatible with Win 7. I have tried the win vista 64 drivers with no luck. I have searched, for two days, for drivers AC '97 2.3 Compliant Audio (Conexant Audio 6.14.10.0575 from Gateway website), and the PCI Modem (Conexant7.22.0.0 1.4 MB 08/03/2010) do not work. I searched the Conexant website for drivers, again no luck.Other than that, after a HDD upgrade, 2GB memory upgrade this old machine, supprising, it runs very good.

I am trying to figure out how to network my laptop with my desktop. I have a Qwest DSL Wifi router. My desktop computer is hooked up to a Vonage device/router and then the Vonage device is connected to the DSL router. My laptop is connected to the Qwest router by Wifi. Also, the deskop and Vonage device are setup with a static IP. Is there any way to network between my desktop and laptop so I can do file sharing?

View 3 Replies View Related1.I had created a locker on my desktop using "Folder Lock" software.
2.Subsequently I made the locker invisible using "Folder Protect" software.
3.When I was trying to add more files to the locker created in 1 the locker tried to "increase it's size on the run"...
4.This process failed and "Folder Lock" shut down and since then I cannot locate the locker anymore on my PC nor can I see it in "Folder Protect"
5.Having read on a forum, I uninstalled "Folder Protect" and reinstalled...but that did not help..I still could not find the Locker.
6.I even uninstalled and reinstalled "Folder Lock"...even this did not help
7.I understand the lockers created by "Folder Lock" are UNDELETABLE.
8.Clearly my locker is somewhere on my hard disk but I am unable to locate it.
I am using Micromax 300c EVDO modem ( Datacard ) for wireless broadband connection. In one machine having Intel 915 Chipset motherboard, it is working fine. In the device manager, in the modem category, it shows correctly as " CDMA 2000 Rev A Modem ". In another machine, having Intel DG41TY motherboard, the device manager does not show modem. Only in other devices category, shows as Data services. ( in ports category both diagnostic and service ports are shown correctly)
View 4 Replies View RelatedI hv been using Windows 7 for 2yrs on my HP DV6502AU Laptop, using vista's drivers for the same, everything was fine bt few days back its sound went off with a cross mark on the sound icon. I triesd to reinstall the drivers bt it shows "cannot find the media device for this driver". So i formatted my laptop and installed windows 7 again to check whether it will work or not. And the bad luck followed, now modem driver is showing the same"cannot find the modem device for this driver".
View 3 Replies View RelatedI can't connect to the internet on my desktop pc after I reinstalled windows. I have linksys wrt320n router and I can connect to it only by wi-fi. When I try to install router's setup wizard or network magic - it writes that my computer is not connected to router though it is connected in the same way as it was before. In the LOCAL AREA CONNECTION it is also written that network cable is unplugged...I also tryed to connect just internet cable without router - PC also didn't react. Maybe the problem is that my network adapter (nvidia nforce) is without appropriate drivers? Cause I can't find drivers for nvidia nforce networking contoller for windows 7.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a small usb fax modem from ebay. It is a simple device, with a usb connector on one end, and a receptacle for a telephone line on the other end. So obviously, this is not difficult to "install". But my problem concerns getting the correct drivers installed. The unit came with a mini-cd-rom which has some drivers. But there are no instructions. It also contained a "Read Me" file, but unfortunately this was i Chinese and I couldn't read it.
The computer specs :
HP200-5120IS, (All-in-one )
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Edition
Intel Pentium E5400 / 2.7 GHz, Dual-Core
64-bit Computing
Cache Memory Per Processor 2 MB
4.0 GB, DDR3 SDRAM
Hard Drive 500.0 GB -7200 rpm
DVD-RW (R DL) / DVD-RAM - Serial ATA
LCD display - TFT active matrix, 21.5 in
Graphics - Integrated GMA X4500HD
New computer - Dell Inspiron 15R laptop. Windows-7 home premium 64-bit. Trying to access internet. 7 gives connection option of Broadband where ISP requires ID and Password. However, my ISP does not require this info to log on....its just "plug-n-play" I have run every test and diagnostic that I can find and the only prob I can find is something to do with the DNS, but have no way to fix the problem. The connection is Cable Modem, via LAN wire. One of the diagnostics recognizes my ISP, but still won't let me connect.

1. connect modem to USB, install all required drivers and software (if don't work, use compatibility mode with Windows XP)
2. install VMware Workstation
3. install Windows XP on VMware Workstation
4. run XP and install all required drivers and software for modem (it's automatic)
5. now you have internet on running Windows XP on VMware Workstation
6. disconnect from internet on Windows XP
7. run connection manager on Windows 7
8. and now trick, add new HW (VM>Settings>Add>Network Adapter>Host-only>Finish) Network Adapter
9. wait few seconds and connection manager find modem on windows 7 (WTF?)
10. now, you can connect to the internet using connection manager in Windows 7
11. close VMware Workstation and enjoy ;-)
I don't know how it's possible, but it works! Cheers!
I installed the windows 7 RC with great enthusiasm but found that the driver for my speedtouch 330 adsl modem which was working fine for beta not working the problem being the setting option for world cannot be selected. Bad experience from windows7 indeed!

View 5 Replies View RelatedA few days ago i was trying to connect my laptop to my ps3.To do this i was changing setting etc but never got it to work anyway. The next day i turn the computer on and can't connect to the internet.I think it was something to do with dns.I uninstalled and reinstalled my usb modem and software and always get full connection bars and says its connected, but in the bottom right hand corner it says network "no internet access" with a yellow triangle over it.It was because i was changing all of the settings in network and sharing senter, but being the wally i am, never wrote down the original settings. Whatever i did i am fairly certain i did it in the change adapter settings.

Every now and then the internet will stop working on my PCs. I have 2 near me at all times and both will stop working, a wireless lappy and wired desky lol.It will come back in a moment or in a little while. I havent figured out if its the router or the cable modem.
