View 6 RepliesNew computer - Dell Inspiron 15R laptop. Windows-7 home premium 64-bit. Trying to access internet. 7 gives connection option of Broadband where ISP requires ID and Password. However, my ISP does not require this info to log on....its just "plug-n-play" I have run every test and diagnostic that I can find and the only prob I can find is something to do with the DNS, but have no way to fix the problem. The connection is Cable Modem, via LAN wire. One of the diagnostics recognizes my ISP, but still won't let me connect.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI rarely need to send/receive a FAX, but I would like to know how before I need to. In the past, I had a dialup FAX modem, but now I'm on cable, and I never thought about FAXing until just now. My printer also has a FAX function, but the only driver available for it on Windows 7 is the one that Windows 7/Windows Update installs. In the Windows FAX/Scan program, the scanner works perfectly, but When I try to creat a new FAX, it says that I need a FAX modem. I have no idea of whether my cable modem is capable of that or not, but when I select to send a FAX, a window appears stating that I need a fax modem or server, but when I select to use a local modem, an error appears saying that I need to contact the administrator (me). From the interface, the only thing that appears to be for setting this up is the Tools>Options menu, but when I click on that, nothing happens. The first question is whether it is typical for a cable modem to be able to handle a FAX or not?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for a 64-bit USB Cable Modem driver that works with Vista or Windows 7.
This is my modem:
Cisco DPC/EPC2100 Cable Modem - Support - Cable Modems - Consumer - Cisco
However, none of these drivers seem to work with 64-bit.
I was wondering if there are no drivers available for this specific modem, is there a generic
64-bit USB Cable Modem available that can be used as a replacement? If so, where?
And if I'm happen to be stuck with a 64-bit OS and this modem, is there any other solution
to workaround this problem? Would it be possible to hook up a router so Windows wouldn't

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen trying to install my USB cable modem (Scientific Atlanta DPC2100R2), I'm always getting a popup message that says "Device Driver Software was not Successfully Installed." I don't even get a "Found New Hardware" message beforehand. I just switched over to Windows 7 Professional 64-bit from Windows XP today, and the modem was working fine earlier (when I was using XP).
When I put the Setup disk that came with my modem, AutoPlay will play it, but I can't set up anything that way. If I go through Device Manager to try and update the driver, I get a message along the lines of "Windows could not find updates." I even get this message when I manually direct it to my D: drive where the disk is.
I've even tried uninstalling the driver from Device Manager, unplugging the USB from my PC, restarting it, and then plugging the USB back in, but I still get the same error.
It really shouldn't be the modem, as it was working fine earlier and I am even using it right now as I type this on my other PC (that runs Windows XP) and it's working fine. Would anyone happen to know how to remedy this?
can't connect to internet it says connection between access point router or cable modem and internet is broken
View 4 Replies View RelatedThis question may not be what you think it is. I am trying to fix an intermittent issue in my home environment. The issue is I am having to use wireless. Our Xfinity Cable/WAP modem sits on the top floor of our house. I am located in the basement. The wireless signal I get most of the time is very good, and by very good i mean at least 15+ mb/s on [URL]
I am taking the Cisco Network Academy classes and am familiar with network terminology and concepts. However, what I'm trying to do is take a router/WAP (using it downstairs where I'm located) and configure it to access our xfinity modem upstairs, so that I can plug in to it downstairs using a RJ-45.
Let me know what yall think. By the way the router/wap i would be using is a netgear model unknown at this moment but could easily find out.
my log in is not giving me my roadrunner messages.

I have a new gaming computer with a high end video card and plenty of RAM and a high speed cable Internet connection. I also have a HDHomeRun TV cable unit which is listed to work with MS Media Center. When I set up my Media Center/TV connection it recognizes my HDHomeRun TV connection and all three TV channels via my MCard I got from Comcast cable. But next to the last dialog window, during setting up my TV connection, I got the following message, "Your computer is not digital cable ready. You will not be able to set it up for use with a cable card."

In the LOCAL AREA CONNECTION it is also written that network cable is unplugged...I also tryed to connect just internet cable without router - PC also didn't react. Maybe the problem is that my network adapter (nvidia nforce) is without appropriate drivers? Cause I can't find drivers for nvidia nforce networking contoller for windows 7.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a small usb fax modem from ebay. It is a simple device, with a usb connector on one end, and a receptacle for a telephone line on the other end. So obviously, this is not difficult to "install". But my problem concerns getting the correct drivers installed. The unit came with a mini-cd-rom which has some drivers. But there are no instructions. It also contained a "Read Me" file, but unfortunately this was i Chinese and I couldn't read it.

Hard Drive 500.0 GB -7200 rpm

USB modem Samsung sgh-z810 works in Windows 7.
1. connect modem to USB, install all required drivers and software (if don't work, use compatibility mode with Windows XP)
2. install VMware Workstation
3. install Windows XP on VMware Workstation
4. run XP and install all required drivers and software for modem (it's automatic)
5. now you have internet on running Windows XP on VMware Workstation
6. disconnect from internet on Windows XP
7. run connection manager on Windows 7
8. and now trick, add new HW (VM>Settings>Add>Network Adapter>Host-only>Finish) Network Adapter
9. wait few seconds and connection manager find modem on windows 7 (WTF?)
10. now, you can connect to the internet using connection manager in Windows 7
11. close VMware Workstation and enjoy ;-)
I don't know how it's possible, but it works! Cheers!
I installed the windows 7 RC with great enthusiasm but found that the driver for my speedtouch 330 adsl modem which was working fine for beta not working the problem being the setting option for world cannot be selected. Bad experience from windows7 indeed!
