Oct 12, 2010I have a machine with "win 7 professional" and appears in the login screen all the login accounts that I have in the workstation.I just want to display last user name?

May 14, 2011I have windows 7 Professional 64 bit and I was wondering if there was anyway that I could have the "other" user account enabled (where you have to type in your username and password) and have a standard account enabled to click on and just type in the password. I've been searching everywhere online and in the local group and policy editor.

Aug 10, 2011Whenever I switch user accounts the computer will start the switch and then lock up with a display message that says no signal on the monitor. It happens if the computer has been running for hours or only a couple of minutes. I have to shut the PC off and leave it off for 20-30 minutes. I can then restart and enter any user account. But if I try to switch user or logoff and pick a different user the whole cycle begins anew.

Sep 22, 2012Windows 7 64 turns off the monitor 1 signal after startup. At login, it powers off monitor 1 and powers on monitor 2. Windows 7 behaves as though dual display is working even though monitor 1 does not display. It's the same for single display, the monitor will not work on cable 1 except at startup.Both 'Extend these displays' in Windows Screen Resolution and 'Extend' in the Nvidia Control Panel is selected. And changing which one is primary does not turn on monitor 1. Nor does switching the position of display 1 in either (ex.left/right/top/bottom).GeForce 8400 GS; Dual Monitor Solution 59 pin (DMS-59) to 2 VGA adapter -tried two of these adapter cables.atest Driver: 306.23 - installed a clean reset install of the latest Nvidia driver released last week.Same Resolution: 2 of the 4 monitors I have tried have the exact same 'recommended' resolution (1280X 1024), both 60Hz, and even chose 16 bit color for both instead of 32 to reduce resources.
Linux worked: Dual display worked immediately when I tried it in Ubuntu 10. So, it's not the hardware. It works in Ubuntu 12 too but not properly -it won't transfer windows across displays. My Windows 7 64 is an upgrade from Vista 64. One person in another forum with the same problem resolved theirs by reinstalling Windows 7. But another got the same problem only after a fresh clean install of Windows 7 64 with the same GeForce 8400 GS and DMS-59 when it had previously worked in Vista. Jan 17, 2012So a new box recently built, when booted, defaults to the local administrator account.This is a Windows 7 machine for a Linux guru that doesn't want to be bothered pressing more buttons than is necessary, if you get my drift. So my question is, after pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del...how do I dictate to Windows that the preferred used is "HisDomainAccount" on our company domain, as opposed to the local admin account?

Jan 17, 2013Earlier today I turned on my Toshiba laptop (Satellite P855-S5200) and got some sort of error screen, and then it brought me to a screen asking if I wanted to do a system repair or start windows normally. I chose system repair, but then it seemed to get stuck in that process (It was taking forever and nothing was happening), so I turned off the laptop (I know, big no no), booted in safe mode, and did a system restore to a restore point from about a week ago. The "starting Windows" screen came and went, no problem. Everything seemed fine till I got to the User Selection screen (the default blue one with the little hummingbird or whatever). Then it just sat there on that screen. I could see the hummingbird and the little squiggly lines, but there were no buttons to click my user. I just let it sit there, and after about 5 minutes, the user names popped up, and I was able to continue using the computer without any problems, no other speed issues whatsoever. It now makes me wait every time, always about 5 minutes, before the user names pop up. It does this when I restart the machine and when I try to switch users.
It is a Pentium Core i7
2.3 Ghz
8 GB RAM
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
'User Profile Service Failed' When Changing Default User Location
Apr 22, 2011I changed the values in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionProfileList in order to move the default user locations to my second partition. I then created a new user profile but when I try to login I get the message 'The User Profile Service failed the login'. When I set these values back to normal, new accounts work fine but I really want my user accounts on the second partition.

Feb 17, 2012I am a lab technician for Microsoft classes at a community college. One of our students somehow messed up his hard drive. The computer is running Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 64-bit. The system has two administrator accounts and one standard user account. I am still able to logon with those accounts and there are SID keys for each of these users in the registry.
Now when we create a new user, the account is created without any problems. The user shows up on the logon page and after running the net user command, it shows up there as well. When I try to logon with the new user, I get a message: The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded.
None of the new user accounts show up in the registry. The other anomaly that I see is that the Default User folder is missing in each of the Users subdirectory for the three accounts where I have no problems.
I have read the Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 947215 and none of the methods apply to my problem. I also checked Local Group Policies and the Do not logon users with temporary profiles setting is not configured.

I added a new drive C and installed the OS on C but changed default location of User Folders to D. Now my existing User Folders are in the Users folder on D but there is no User Account associated with them. If I create a user account with the same name will it map to the existing folder within Users?I did a test of this. I created a folder called Test within Users then created a User account called Test and logged in. It created another folder within Users called Test.Computername.

Apr 3, 2012Windows XP Remote Desktop Behaviour is desireable. that is, when one account is logged in, if another account is tried to use to log in remotely from another computer, then the 2nd user cannot connect and it is indicated who is currently logged in.
Windows 7 Default behaviour is to allow the second user to try to disconnect the first user through a query message which has an idle timer.
Is there any way to change the behaviour back to windows xp, where 1) disconnection of the 1st user session is not possible, and 2) it is indicated which user is signed on?

Does anyone know if one could designate a user folder location such as E:Data instead of using the users name and being a subdirectory of "Users". I am the ONLY one on my computer - and it would seem much easier to look to the top folder in the E drive than clicking thru E:, users, name, documents, project. I fully realize that I can set up shortcuts, but when you are in an application that wants to place a file somewhere else and presents you with an explorer windows it is a pain. The only method I thought of is using redirection with symbolic links.

Nov 17, 2012when i try to create a new user profile ~ with or without a password, it shows up on the main login page, but when i click on it to open, the message "UserProfileService_service failed the logon_user profile cannot be loaded". i have searched microsoft support with little solutions listed. and the ones that are listed seem too technical for me to be trying on my own. there are many posts there with this problem, but they all seem to be several years old.
i am using windows 7. i have never been able to create any accounts other than my administrator account & the one account i use for all my general computer use. i have been using norton 360 with no problems. i have resorted to just using any "log in/log out' links on all the sites my husband wants to use.i am really not all that confident doing anything super technical to fix this, since i don't have a real understanding of different extensions or types of files. i am afraid i could really mess everything up really bad. but, it would just be SO MUCH EASIER & FASTER if i had my account & my husband had his own account.

Jul 31, 2011I have ATI Radeon HD4350 512MB graphics card, it has D-Sub, DVI & HDMI sockets on rear.I have downloaded all the latest updates.I have HP 2010i LCD monitor at a resolution of 1600x900 this is connected DVI to DVI.I have a Samsung 40" 1080p LCD tv. I have this connected to my computer HDMI to HDMI.I want the computer to work on both displays... but it wont plat ball.I cannot get a display on the tv; it works on startup but when Windows 7 is loaded the display is no signal, the monitor works ok..If I turn off the monitor by the power button the tv still has no display BUT if I unplug the DVI cable from the monitor the display on the TV comes to life, when I plug it back in the tv goes blank.The GPU and Windows 7 both recognise both display units but only the monitor worksHow do I get both monitor and TV display working??

Feb 5, 2011my desktop theme will not display correctly. The wallpaper is locked on 1 image instead of a slideshow. When I try to manually advance to the next image, nothing. I did try to save a solid background, which it let me do but when I tried to go back to my wallpaper, it would not let me display. Also, Windows will not let me create or even save my unsaved theme. Jan 11, 2013I updated all my drivers using DriverMax and then verified those uploads against Intel's updated driver support scan. Both agreed with each other on the updates and that all was well. It was some week later when I was working and closed the lid on my HP dv7 (Win 7 Home Premium) opened it again within 10 seconds and ever since the screen simply doesn't come back after closing the lid. I have set all power options to Max Performance, turned off Hibernation and Sleep with no change in outcome. Checked the updated BIOS (updated via OM Intel site) and no applicable (or at least identified) power settings found.
