Unable To Display Current Owner?

Apr 28, 2011

I am accessing another computer by read/write rights to specific folders.Today, I was at the host computer and I saw a file, that I deleted before, still there. When I was permanently deleting it, it was going off; but when I refresh, it was coming back. When I tried to just delete - recycle - it, it told me that I didn't have the rights to do it.When I checked the security options from the properties, it showed the owner as "Unable to display current owner" and didn't let me to change the owner or delete the file. What can I do in these kind of situations when current owner cannot be displayed or changed?(I understand the file can come from/to host computer, remote computer, and one of the external drives which may have a different owner -remote computer controls all the external drives, just some of the external drives has a creator owner in permissions also)

'Access Is Denied' / 'Unable To Display Current Owner'

Dec 5, 2011

I just tried to install the latest iTunes update, but keep getting an error when it tries to access the C:Program FilesiPod folder. When I try to access the iPod folder directly through Windows Explorer, I get "Access is denied".The same happens when logged in with the system administrator account. When I right-click the folder and choose Properties > Security, the Current owner field shows "Unable to display current owner." And it won't allow either of the listed administrator accounts to take ownership. When I choose Properties > Security > Advanced > Owner, the Current owner field also shows "Unable to display current owner." And it won't allow me to Edit it either.I've tried opening the Command Prompt as the administrator, and deleting the folder, but it won't allow me to do that either.

Current User Does Not Have Privileges To Open This Data File?

Jun 23, 2011

I built this machine a while back and I've had this appear a few times. I am the only one who uses the computer and as far as I know everything is set as administrator. These files were on an external USB drive and I was trying to open them from there. I checked permissions and it appears there is full access. However, editing within the permissions dialog boxes are not as that clear to me.

Publisher Is Not Installed For Current User, Rerun The Setup?

Jun 20, 2012

I have had MSPublisher 2007 for three months now with no issues at all but now every time I try to open a file that opens in MSPublisher 2007 I get the following error "Publisher Is Not Installed For Current User. Please Rerun The Setup." but it doesn't matter how many times I rerun the setup, I get that same error! I have no other users on my computer and I am the ONLY person who uses the computer that Publisher is currently installed on! I need to open a file in Publisher so I can make a "fan of the month" certificate for on of my Facebook fan pages. I am a week late on doing that certificate because I was locked out of Facebook for a week! but anyway no matter what I try, Publisher ALWAY gives the that error!

"This Operation Is Not Supported Based On Current Display Configuration"

Dec 3, 2011

For some reason now I can't seem to extend or duplicate my displays anymore. I am trying to extend from my computer monitor to my tv but I can't seem to get it to work. I can make it show up only on the tv or only on the computer monitor but not both. In AMD Vision control center it tell me "This operation is not supported based on current display configuration" - when I try to extend "Duplication of displays over multiple graphics processors is not supported" - when I try to duplicate?

Don't Display Last User Name

I have windows 7 Professional 64 bit and I was wondering if there was anyway that I could have the "other" user account enabled (where you have to type in your username and password) and have a standard account enabled to click on and just type in the password. I've been searching everywhere online and in the local group and policy editor.

Unable To 'switch User' In Windows 7?

Nov 21, 2009

I recently installed Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit on my system. Everything runs great except one thing. I'm not able to switch users like I used to on my Vista system. The 'switch user' is greyed out. I have 3 user accounts on my system. On my earlier Vista system, if i were to put the system in standby mode and then re-open it again, it would show me a password field (since that account was password protected) and a 'Switch User' button below the password field. However no such thing shows in Win 7. Both the vista and win 7 were home premium editions.

Unable To Access User Profile On Windows 7?

Oct 20, 2012

This same problem happened about 1-2 months ago on the first user profile on the computer. My cousin and I searched google and all we could find was deleting 1 of 2 registries or something along those lines, we tried and it didn't work. Since the problem seemed like a one in a million shot, we eventually settled on copying the contents of the other user profile into a new user profile through the hidden administrator account. We just used that account instead. The other account is still on the computer as well

User Unable To See Or Map To Networked Drives?

Jun 15, 2011

I have a user who is logged into my domain as admin and they are able to see all of my network, but they are not able to map or see a drive share that is on another Windows 7 machine. I have double checked permissions on both the users machine and also on the other two Windows 7 machines and they are set correctly. To make this even more bizarre, I can log into my domain name as them and I am able to both map and see the drives in question. The laptop that the user is logged into can see all of the network but when they try to access the drives in question, windows tells them that it can't find the drives.

Created User Account, Unable To Login?

I created a secondary user account on my PC. When I try to login, it will look like it's logging in, but it just logs back out, returning to the main screen to choose an account to login to.If I'm logged into my main account, and I switch users and try to login to the newly created secondary account, it logs me out of my main account, and doesn't login to the secondary account, and once again, returns to the main screen to choose an account to login to.This also happens with the guest account. In addition, it does not give me the generic error: "The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded"How can I fix this?

Unable To Access User Accounts As Admin

Jul 19, 2012

I'm not really sure when this problem started, but as the admin account and only real user (I set up another account to test my problems) on my HP Laptop, I cannot access the user accounts on my computer. I've tried to access them multiple ways, including through the control panel and directly through the start menu, but when I try to click on anything having to do with the user accounts on my pc, nothing happens. So I am unable to change my password, change my picture, or add or remove other accounts. It's almost like I'm not an administrator. However, according to multiple places on my computer, my account is still an administrator. Also, some programs do not launch unless I chose to launch them as an admin by right clicking, is that normal?

So to summarize my situation, I don't think my admin account is giving me proper access to my computer, limiting the things I can do.

Unable To Switch User From Start Menu Or Login Screen?

I wanted to switch users a few days ago, but when I clicked the start button and clicked the arrow next to shutdown, it says lock, log off, restart, or sleep. The switch user option used to be at the top.I have tried going into the registry and finding HideFastUserSwitching, which I had to create a DWORD value for, because it wasn't there - needless to say that didn't work.I was told to also enable the Fast User Switching service in service.msc, but it wasn't on the list.I have tried going to task manager and clicking the 'users' tab which miraculously disappeared - replaced by a TCP/IP tab.

Windows Boot Selection

Jun 11, 2009

I have a strange issue haunting me. On a dual boot PC (Windows 7 x86 and x64 the OS selection (Windows Boot Manager) will not allow me to select with the arrow keys. Also the enter key will not allow bypassing the timer. I recently reinstalled both OS but it never worked previously when I had Windows 7 x86 and XP x64 on a dual boot.

During the install, during the several restarts that occur when you are doing an install it will work and I could select but now I cant. The keyboard is a USB keyboard with wireless mouse.

Any ideas?

It happens if the computer has been running for hours or only a couple of minutes. I have to shut the PC off and leave it off for 20-30 minutes. I can then restart and enter any user account. But if I try to switch user or logoff and pick a different user the whole cycle begins anew.

In the Link, is a picture of the dialog box that shows greyed out. I have been helping a friend with her computer. The system is a windows 7, 64 bit, home version, everything stock. I have cleaned out the system free from viruses and other malicious codes that could have been lurking around there. Installed avast and mbam with spybot on reserve. Everything works, until this happens. The only way that we can make the dialog box fix is to change the display settings and then apply the settings. Later on after answering the question or downloading a file, change the settings back.
