I updated all my drivers using DriverMax and then verified those uploads against Intel's updated driver support scan. Both agreed with each other on the updates and that all was well. It was some week later when I was working and closed the lid on my HP dv7 (Win 7 Home Premium) opened it again within 10 seconds and ever since the screen simply doesn't come back after closing the lid. I have set all power options to Max Performance, turned off Hibernation and Sleep with no change in outcome. Checked the updated BIOS (updated via OM Intel site) and no applicable (or at least identified) power settings found.
Whenever my display turns off, all my windows in explorer closes even when I am moving files. I don't really know how this happened but it is very annoying. Also, my windows explorer crashes like 5 times a day. It says that windows explorer is not responding and I have to wait for it to refresh but there are also times when I can't open it anymore then I'll have to restart my computer.
I have already done a full virus scan and system file checker but there were no threats or errors found.
Win 7 on Dell Vostro 64 bit os sp1.Anti Virus: Norton Security Suite 5.1.0.29, Ie 9 is where the issue started if opened it would close instantly. the 64 bit version is / was fine. Opening with no add ons had no change. I uninstalled IE9 only to find the problem stayed, IE8 32 crashes and IE8 64 bit works fine. The no add on for IE8 has no change. Running either as "Runas Admin" no change. Also resetting IE had no change. Logging in as Administrator and running it had no change. Creating a new user and attempting to run it had no change. One other issue that might be related I can not uninstall Java 6 update 25, it states the MSI is missing and I cant find a copy any where to remove or re install and remove.
I have a different problem with COM Surrogate. I noticed something wasn't right when I got random freeze-ups playing audiosurf which is sensitive to CPU usage. I opened task manager and saw about every 15 seconds, there is a spike in the CPU usage. I checked the processes and saw dllhost.exe (COM Surrogate) is opening up and closing in just a few seconds, and repeats this about every 15 seconds which is eating my CPU. I do NOT get any error messages anywhere. I can view photos just fine. HOWEVER, I do see that any new photos' or videos' thumbnails are not updating. Any videos and photos I had before this problem have thumbnails, but not any new ones I create. I am running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.
recently i noticed this pops up every time i start my pc and im not sure what it ioutedit forgot to mention it usally closes itself about 30 seconds after i start my pc but today it doesn't close itself and i cant end the process if this is in the wrong section im sorry i was a bit worried and just licked windows 7
When I close the lid of my laptop, and then reopen it sometime after, the screen is black. Power light is on, I can here sounds, such as plugging in a usb device, but is black. I just restart it and its back, but I shouldn't have to do that every time.
I have a Dell Inspiron 15 with Windows 7 laptop. Recently, it has been "acting up". I will be online using internet explorer and be writing an email, looking at a web page, or on facebook, and the page just closes by itself. At first I thought I must be hitting something to make the screen close, but the problem continues. It's really a pain when you're searching for something, and you've followed several links, only to have the screen you want to look at close for no reason at all. What's up with that?
Recently I have gotten a new issue. I will be doing something basic on the computer, such as opening a new tab, or closing starcraft 2, and then suddenly all programs running will close. It gives no warnings, and it has nothing to do with the specs of my computer. I have 8 gigs of ram, a 2 gig gtx 560 and a 3.2 ghz 8 core processor. One out of the 5 times it has happened, it said "facebook messenger has stopped working correctly" or something.
My problem is that I my HTPC drops the HDMI connection when I exit media center.
When I am in 7MC I can play all my ripped DVDs, Blu-rays, and music. But when Media Center closes (or in window mode) the HDMI connection drops off. I can see the "No Signal" messeage in the Onkyo display as soon as 7MC closes, and it reconnects again when 7MC opens. I need the connection to say active so I can have sound with NetFlix (apparently it runs outside of media Center even though I launch it in 7MC).
why my HDMI connection is dependant on 7MC running?
Windows 7 x64 ASROCK H67M-ITX/i3-2100T connected via HDMI to Onkyo TX-SR705 receiver
when I wanted to save my word closes and now lost all my work i have typed normally there would show a window of my last working files that it can bring some of it back before the 10minutes but cant find that window that pop's up anymore.
I have two computers running Windows 7 x64. On both of them, whenever I try to open a command line program it closes after a fraction of a second. This happens when I use ipconfig, and hldsupdatetool. This only started happening recently, sometime in the last few weeks, and I have no idea why.I am aware that I can use cmd and then type ipconfig, but this doesn't work for hldsupdatetool, and it takes much longer than just double clicking or typing ipconfig in the start menu search.
Whenever i press the any of the 2 letters before C.. My web page closes.. This happens in all the browsers.. (mo*illa and chrome and IE) Im using Win 7
Error es displayed - "Internet everywhere has stopped working: A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available". i went to Orange and they said the problem might be the O/S bt my technician checked it and its ok. i was givn a patch application at orange and still the problem is nt solved. um using Windows 7 Home Basic laptop, Intel Pentium processor P6100 with a 3GB ddr3 memory nd 320GB HDD. but it works well with my Pentium 4 desktop.
I have a laptop with Windows 7 64 bit. The first few days I had it, Internet Explorer worked fine. Then it malfunctioned. When you double click the IE shortcut it would open for a split second then close. When you went to the Start menu, Programs, it would do the same. I downloaded and installed IE 8 64 bit from Microsoft's website. When I double click the IE 8 64 bit shortcut it opens fine! The problem is, I can't set IE 8 64 as my default browser. I get a Windows error message that says you cannot set IE 8 64 as your default browser. So I can open IE 8 64 manually but any link I click tries to open IE 8 (32 bit presumably) which still opens then immediately closes.
My messenger when opening chat window, closes itself, and same thing is with browsers - chrome and explorer. After entering any link, they just suddenly close.. It seems that there's something closes them, but I don't know what. All was scanned, no trojans. I also used CC cleaner to verify errors, cleaned them all, and also nothing.
I'm going to college soon and so I thought I should bring my laptop with me. In preparation, I turned on the laptop and went into my admin desktop. Here's what I did:(1) Updated Java to Java 6 Update 32 (2) Uninstalled old version of Java, which was Java 6 Update 20 - by Sun Microsystems but was later owned by Oracle(3) Uninstalled some trusted useless programs from 2 years ago(4) Uninstalled AVG that was installed 2 years ago(5) Installed/Updated Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE)(6) Ran a quick scan with no threats(7) Right now, I am installing 68 updates for Windows 7Now, here's the problem..While I was scanning with MSE, I noticed my command prompt popped up for no particular reason and then it disappeared for a split second. It went too fast, I couldn't read what it had said on the prompt.
as soon as i open the games from steam the game closes after the valve logo automatically again n again i tried runing steam as an administrator too nthin worked out?
I am having trouble with my start menu closing a second or 2 after I click the start button, then the toolbar and desktop icons quickly flash twice. So I can't get into certain programs or apps.
Windows Live Mail closes unexpectedly repeatedly without error message and one account disappeared?
I have multiple accounts being used for years on Windows Live Mail - Version 2009 - Build 14.0.8117.0416 on XP Pro SP3
Recently, Windows Live Mail closes unexpectedly repeatedly without error message Then as I kept trying to figure out I noticed one account disappeared? I think that happened later.
I have the ENTIRE WL MAIL Log file.
To track why this was happening I went offline mode and it would not crash. So, I figured it was something to do with the Sync. So I disabled the Auto Sync for every account I had and did manual syncs for one account at a time. Found the account that was causing this.
Its a hotmail account. I signed into Hotmail and all seems ok. I am posting the follow lines from the LOG, when I manually synched that account from WL Mail a few times.
I could try to trace back into the LOGS as to when this drama actually started originally, and post that and / or most of it. Let me know if someone can help dissect Windows Live Mail issues. Found its due to Sync of one account, Error Log info posted.

Any 'new tab' related extension are automatically remove every single time I closes my Chrome.I even stop downloading Awesome New Tab Page because it WILL get uninstall the next time I re-open my Chrome. Then I started dragging so many sites to the default 'new tab' page to turn them into App.. Guess what? It was removed as well.I tried clean re-install too.
All of a sudden I can no longer open or close new tabs using the middle mouse click (clicking the scroll wheel) it doesn work in ie or in firefox. Also seems like it doesn't work on the desktop or any other application. I have'nt installed new updates or new programs, I don't have any "mouse software" like intellipoint. This affects both my wireless keyboard with built in trackball and a serperate wireless scrollmouse. The only think I can think of is that a few days ago I changed the the speed of my cursor.. of course this shouldn't have affected anything else.... but it is really annoying as I mostly use my computer for web browsing and always open links in new tabs..
the display/monitor uses the generic driver for display and it is 1024×768 or 800x600 but it looks very odd it should be bigger because my screen is bigger. I have a acer monitor but is there something I can download to fix the display size?
Windows 7 64 turns off the monitor 1 signal after startup. At login, it powers off monitor 1 and powers on monitor 2. Windows 7 behaves as though dual display is working even though monitor 1 does not display. It's the same for single display, the monitor will not work on cable 1 except at startup. Both 'Extend these displays' in Windows Screen Resolution and 'Extend' in the Nvidia Control Panel is selected. And changing which one is primary does not turn on monitor 1. Nor does switching the position of display 1 in either (ex.left/right/top/bottom).GeForce 8400 GS; Dual Monitor Solution 59 pin (DMS-59) to 2 VGA adapter -tried two of these adapter cables.atest Driver: 306.23 - installed a clean reset install of the latest Nvidia driver released last week.Same Resolution: 2 of the 4 monitors I have tried have the exact same 'recommended' resolution (1280X 1024), both 60Hz, and even chose 16 bit color for both instead of 32 to reduce resources.
Linux worked: Dual display worked immediately when I tried it in Ubuntu 10. So, it's not the hardware. It works in Ubuntu 12 too but not properly -it won't transfer windows across displays. My Windows 7 64 is an upgrade from Vista 64. One person in another forum with the same problem resolved theirs by reinstalling Windows 7. But another got the same problem only after a fresh clean install of Windows 7 64 with the same GeForce 8400 GS and DMS-59 when it had previously worked in Vista. I have been experiencing an issue with my laptop for approximately 6 months now. When I shut the lid the computer acts very strangely. It shuts down quickly, almost like I pulled the plug without the battery in or held the power button down. I noticed the last time though that the indicator light for the sd card and hard drive were blinking to a tune of 300 beats per minute for the ~1.5 seconds in between closing the lid and shutting down. I have tried to change power options via windows (pretty obvious stuff) and shut the lid while in each power option and it continues to have the same issue. Is this BIOS related? Or hardware?
