Task Host Window Message At Shutdown?
Nov 4, 2009Windows 7 32-bit Why do I get the following message every time I shut down?
"(Waiting for) Task Host Window Task host is executing shutdown tasks, and stopping tasks that are already running"
There are NO tasks running. This has been going on for days now. What causes this crappy annoyance and how can I fix it?

Jan 19, 2013From a couple of days, I've the problem that SOMETIMES (not always), when I shutdown the system, appear the message concerning the system is waiting the closing of Task Host process, but I'm forced to close manually from there, because the waiting is useless.The message should be this: "1 program still needs to close: (Waiting for) Task Host Window".It happen only from 7-10 days, and Revo Uninstaller report that in last days I only install some games and these programs:
DivX Pro 6.8.0 VFW
Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable
Microsft XNA Framework
Probably, all programs installed with some game.How can I do? I tried the exact version of hotfix here: http:(url) but it doesn't install because it's probably already installed (I have SP1).I want to avoid to restore an old statut with System Restore. I have Windows 7 x64 with SP1 and latest updates for everything.

Jun 8, 2011a few days ago i've installed Windows 7 64-bit(ultimate),everything seems to be going well except for the sound card -.-, I go on the creative site and download the drivers for 64 bit windows seven, but when it comes to the end of the installation gives me a message saying the device is not supported as well if I try to open the audio console same message, I tried the modified drivers and the problem seemed to be resolved, but it is not the same as the original drivers, does anyone know how to fix?

Oct 6, 2010I am trying to set up a VPN on my Desktop computer (HOST) so that I can connect to it from my school with my laptop (CLIENT). At one point it was working, but now every time I try to connect I get "Error 720: A connection to the remote computer could not be established. You might need to change the network settings for this connection."I know the issue is NOT my laptop, because I can connect to another VPN that I currently have running in place of the one at home (One obvious reason I'd like the home VPN is that my current one is in Sweden...)I also have little reason to believe that my network settings are wrong, because I have the Host computer set as DMZ on my Linksys WRT160N Router and have forwarded the PPTP Port to it as well (Just in case.)I've gone as far as reformatting my Desktop computer and doing NOTHING but installing Network Adapter drivers and an antivirus, and then setting up the VPN and it STILL doesn't work...

Nov 19, 2011It seems to me that XP's recovery console is somewhat better than the one that comes with Vista or 7, unless someone can point me in the right direction for finding further documentation on this topic.
The main difference is the lack of ability to tinker with services (LISTSVC / ENABLE / DISABLE commands). A missed opportunity is the lack of registry tweaking, considering that REGEDIT can be run, but I think it only allows you to look at the registry for the recovery console rather than the main Windows installation, which doesn't help much (though I haven't tried to import/mount the registry file from the main Windows installation).

Oct 27, 2012I have a dell desktop computer with windows 7. As soon as you turn it on it goes straight to the "windows error recovery" screen where it has the option to either start system recovery or start windows normally. If I choose system recovery, it just gets stuck on a screen that looks similar to the backround of the loggin screen, but it's just the backround and my mouse. It will stay on this screen for hours until I turn it off. If I start windows normally, it will have the regular "starting windows" screen then it will flash back to the "windows error recovery" screen. If I try booting into safe mode, or loading the last good configuration, it will always bring me back to "windows error recovery". I have the 2 recovery disks I made when the computer was first bought, but when those are inserted, nothing happens and I'm not sure how to open them, it just always ends up at the "windows error recovery" screen. This computer is only about a year old and I have no idea what to do. I just need it to start up again.

When I manually start the .bat file the console shows, but when I start it with the windows scheduler its hidden. When I start the run.bat with a scheduled task on computer start up. The server will start and function correctly, but I don't know how to open the cmd console to type things in.

Mar 26, 2009I've installed Windows 7 Build 7057 on a partition where I previously had Windows XP. I wanted this installation to wipe out the XP, but instead it created a Windows.old folder. I've deleted that folder, but now when the system starts up a black screen with three options shows up:
1. Previous Windows
2. Windows 7
3. Windows Recovery Console
This Recovery Console was installed when I had the XP, I have no idea why it's still there.
I would like to remove any traces of XP and this console so that the system can boot 7 right away.
Also, a tiny thing: for like 2 seconds a black screen with all drives attached shows up, I'd like to remove that one, too.
Could you tell me how to do it?

I tried (using the hidden Admin account) choosing Author mode, un-checking the "do not save changes" check box, but the O/S won't allow change the services.msc file. I even tried to rename the file, which did save, but only limited changes were saved. W/O using a 3rd party program (which seems to be the only way anything can get changed with Windows 7), how can something that was easy (by changing the attribute) be remembered??

Oct 14, 2011I have the Creative XF-i Extreme Audio soundcard on my system and since upgrading to Windows 7, I am missing the THX console and also the Creative Volume Panel applications. I have used my original Creative CD and installed the drivers and software etc from that in hoping to be able to extract just them components but I can't and they don't seem to be there and I have looked through all folders etc. Obviously being the very original CD that first shipped with PC the drivers and applications are out of date so Creative Auto Update takes care of that. However, what it does not do is find nor install those said applications. I am disappointed that they are not included and when running a new auto update scan it finds no new updates and says I have the latest available software. I have even been on the Creative website and when I do eventually find my soundcard, the updates etc do not show anything to do with the THX console. Basically, it was an interface that let you adjust bass gain and boost and let you physically adjust sliders and effects to suit. Nice feature and I have it in XP, just not win 7
