Consistent Automatic Alt-Tabbing After Update?

Jul 11, 2012

Every single time my windows 7 updates, my windows keep randomly tabbing or something, making it almost impossible to type anything for more than 2 seconds. So if I am typing something in Word, I will be typing for about 2 seconds when I notice that the Word Icon on the control panel becomes unhighlighted (at which point I can't type anything), and then becomes highlighted again in the next few seconds and I can type again for a bit. This cycle continues to repeat itself and I have resorted to just restoring my computer over and over again so that it has not recieved updates (Im like 20 behind or something). That's the only time the problem seems to resolve but eventully I will be needing updates no? How do I fix this?

Automatic And Manual Windows Update At Same Time?

Jul 1, 2011

I've always wondered if running a manual automatic update (XP, Vista, 7) while you have auto updates turned on would slow things down? Often times I'm updating manually and then the icon pops up saying it is downloading or there are updates ready. Does Windows Update detect if there's already an update going or will it re-download the entire update?

Windows Automatic Update Reboot Stalls

Dec 26, 2012

For the past month, every time windows update automatically reboots my computer to finish the updating process, the computer shuts down, fades to black, but then something curious happens. Instead of the BIOS coming up, the screen remains black, and every single fan in my system (GPU, CPU, and 3 other case fans) spin up to full speed and remain there, with the pc never rebooting. I thought this was a BIOS issue, so I updated my BIOS, but this did not fix the issue. All my drivers are updated, and there are no yellow exclamation marks beside any items in Device Manager. My system is running 64 Bit Windows 7 Ultimate, SP1.

Limited Access To Wireless Network, Automatic Update Error?

Sep 13, 2011

I have this problem with my new Asus laptop which was fine yesterday, but cannot connect to any wireless network now. When I click the Network connections button on my task bar it shows me my internet connection with the words Limited Access next to it. I've been on google for a good 2 hours and can't really find the answer. I may know what's wrong, however. Yesterday I pressed the shutdown button on my laptop and then it starts those automatic updates that happen when you shut down. It said something like "Updating 1 of 1 updates". It took a while so I put thelaptops screen down, and when I checked on it again 5 minutes later... Blue screen. I held the power button down on my laptop and shrugged it off.. but now I can't connect to any wireless network.Assuming the network driver is the thing that was updating last night, I searched up what to do, Rollback the dri

Install Drivers Manually Or Wait For Windows Automatic Update

Feb 23, 2012

I've notice that Windows Update, after just installing the OS, gives you some optional updates, and those updates are the drivers for your devices, and it seems that if an update for that drivers goes out, Windows will let you know so if you want to download it you can do so. Now my question is, Is it better to go to the manufacturers website and download the latest driver manually or is it just the same to let windows search for it automatically and download them when there is an update?...

Why Getting Automatic Restore Points Named "Critical Update"

Jan 13, 2013

I have my Windows update settings to "notify but do not download." When I check my history of restore points I see that there are several created anyway with the description "Windows Update-Critical Update." I checked one of them for changes to programs and drivers and the were none. This seems to happening about every 3 days. Is this just an automatic update that is mislabeled? And why every three days - from my research it appears recovery points are supposedly scheduled every seven days?

Brand New Laptop - Stuck On Blue "Bird" Screen After Windows 7 Automatic Update Install

Aug 4, 2011

I just received a brand new laptop less than 24 hours ago. It's an HP, 4 gig RAM, Windows 7 pre-installed, etc.I was using it all night on the internet, putting my music collection on iTunes, etc. I had a lot of fun and was very impressed with this laptop. The second time I turned on the computer (the first being the initial install), Windows Updates was configuring and installing all of these automatic updates that it downloaded the first time I turned off the computer. I couldn't believe my eyes, it actually said it was configuring over 22,000 updates after I booted it up. Yes, THOUSAND. This went on for less than half an hour. Then it went to "installing" the updates, which had a progress bar that reached 100% in maybe 5 minutes. Then it was "starting Windows".Then it got hung up on a blue "bird" desktop background that said Windows 7 Premium at the bottom. The mouse was completely moveable but there was absolutely no action I could take. I left it like this for 30 minutes thinking, "well, it's just installing, but it really should give me a progress bar so I know what the hell is happening."At the 45 minute mark, I couldn't take it anymore. I called HP (the manufacturer of the laptop) for support. The guy asks me for the serial number, and I regretfully wasn't pleasant. I think I said "serial number? I haven't even owned this computer for 12 hours yet!"Anyway, he had me force a shutdown. And then upon booting the computer, I got the "this computer wasn't shut down properly". This is complete BS for a computer that even as I write this, hasn't been in my possession 24 hours yet. I am returning this piece of crap, but I want to know how can I prevent this from happening to the next computer I purchase. Is it necessary to not use Windows Updates, because whoever made these has their head up their ***? I mean "configuring 22,687 updates" on a brand new, 64-bit Windows 7 machine?

Sound And Graphical Error When Alt Tabbing From Full Screen Game?

Apr 23, 2012

Getting distorted (cracking/popping) sound and poor FPS/screen tear after switching application from a full screen game via the taskbar and via alt tabbing. The only way to rectify the issue is by restarting the PC as reloading the game will semi fix the sound issue, but limits my FPS to 30 and will cause the sound to slowly deteriorate to how it was before.

It mainly happens when I have a full screen program while watching a Stream/Video on my second monitor and I switch program through the aero feature in the taskbar/alt tab pop up. Sound goes to shit, then the frame loss kicks in a second later.

I assumed it was an issue to do with the aero application preview feature, but I'm not 100% sure. I've disabled it by using the classic theme which I've been using for the past 2 days and things seem to be alright.

Hardware:
-AMD 1090T
-m4a89td pro-usb3
-8gb DDR3 RAM (4x2gb sticks)
-MSI GTX 460 Hawk
-ASUS Xonar DX

I can manage without aero so I'm able to actually use my PC, but I'd rather fix the issue than ignore it.

I7 + 6GB RAM With Consistent CPU Spikes?

Apr 17, 2012

I've had the HP DV6-3052nr for about a year and a half. My processor is an Intel Core i7, my graphics card is the ATI Mobility Radeon 5650, and it contains 6GB of RAM. A year ago at this time, I was running the game Crysis along with other programs all at once with an accumulated memory usage of 1,500,000. The CPU was at 15% while this was happening. Today, with all other programs closed, I can hardly run Skype, Oovoo, or Minecraft without my CPU spiking to 92% - 100%. The only way for me to solve the lag produced is by restarting my laptop. Why is it that the performance has declined, and aside from formatting, what alternatives do I have to return the performance to what it had once been?

Consistent Unresponsive Apps And System Bugginess?

Jan 4, 2013

I've had a few problems for the past 2-3 weeks-ish and i can't find any solutions, the problem consists of whenever i get into the operating system to the desktop it will load in increments ill set there for a little while and say for example my drivers that make my mouse run and say core temp at start-up wont launch for about 30 seconds but when they do they launch together it also doesn't load any of my removable drives during this time either. I've had general slowness of windows.exe when i go into documents it takes 5-7 seconds to load you can see the bar up at the top moving along like grandma on a walker. Steam has also been affected quite terribly it goes unresponsive when i try to download or do anything really in fact i can't launch it right now it just won't after i sign in it connects then goes unresponsive and closes. My mother board logo at the beginning of turning on my PC also has been slowed takes 20-30 seconds now used to take 3-5 no bios options have been changed for the logo.I'm running my OS on a crucial M4 64gb with the firmware update i believe ill have to check and all my apps are on a 1tb WD black Space wise the SSD is at 9 gigs free and the HDD is at 300gigs free

My system consists of:

CPU: I7 3820 @ 4.3ghz 1.210v VTT@auto

PSU: Corsair AX850W sexiness
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

I've checked all plugins and everything is fine i built the system in march and this problem is new i suspect the motherboard bios which i have stock its a rev 0906 i believe but i'm not too sure ill update it here in a bit along with the SSD.I use Microsoft Security Essentials for security and i have ran full system scans with that and malwarebytes i run CCleaner every week and so fourth.

Automatic Driver Installation

May 21, 2009

Just like Vista, I cannot seem to find any way to stop the automatic driver installation. I love how when I uninstall a driver/device in XP, on reboot it pops up asking me what to do. Vista and 7 on the other hand, take it upon themselves to reinstall Microsoft drivers on reboot no matter what I do.

I've searched online and yielded no results, and searched here and didn't find anything either (Key words yield many results). Ideally I would prefer Vista/7 to just IGNORE the new device, so I can install the new one/update it myself. But if that can't be done, I'd at least like to be able to STOP the automatic driver installation.

Theres gotta be some way, even if I have to edit something or add registry keys, I just want to stop the automatic microsoft driver installation.

No Automatic Connection To Network

Jul 16, 2009

I have RC 7100x64 connected (per cat cable) to a wireless router. Windows 7 created a home network. Router is perfectly fine and my 2 laptops automatically login into the internet. In the beginning my despktop also jsut was able to be online after booting up.

At some point (I did all updates, installed all my software) the PC does not connect to the internet anymore. Tehonly way to get online is to:

- open Network Center

- leftclick "Connections: local area connection" --> disable

- go to trouble shoot problems

- then it finds " the local area network adapter is disabled"

- I click " fix it" and it will work.

I attached the screens

How can I make it connect automatically (as it did before)? I set all services I could think of to " automatic" (IP Helper etc.). From researching I read that XP had a similar problem with SP3. not sure if it is related, but coudl an update be at fault?

Everything is up to date, Kasperksy keeps viruses away, I did not do one of the registry-cleaner tools.

Since it worked at first, one of my isntallations or updates must have done it. I also did some of the "service optimizations" from here bu tundid all of them to resolve my problem.

One could say I should isntall a newer built, but first I just want to use it before I buy the real deal in October. Second, it used to work with RC 7100 and going through all the trouble reinstalling is a hassle.

Everything else works well.

Automatic Permission For 1 Program

Feb 20, 2013

I am building a HTPC and using XBMC to access all my media. I am trying to set it up so that XBMC automatically starts when the PC turns on. I am using Eventghost for this. XBMC has some great wiki's on how to do this, but all of them assume you want XBMC to boot as a shell and not boot explorer. In the future I may want to do this, but right now I am still in the design/set up stage and want explorer to run so I can go back and forth between it and XBMC.My problem is arriving when Eventghost tries to launch XBMC. I need to provide permission for it to run under an admin to make changes to my pc.I want to grant this automatically.I know I can lower my security settings for all programs, but I don't want to do that. I just want to allow XBMC to launch with admin permissions.I already have the "run as administer" box checked. My security is set to high so it still asks me. How can I change this so that XBMC will launch with admin permissions without having to grant it each time yet retain the security settings I have?
