Window properties shows a folder has 17 files and 81Mb - opening the folder shows only 12 files and 65Mb. Settings are showing hidden and system files. Folder has no subfolders. This is not an uncomment occurrence.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have just purchased a new 3XS system from SCAN computers (Vengence). The system has a 120GB SSD and a 1TB HDD. The SSD is used for the OS and programs and the HDD is supposed to be data. The SSD seems to be working fine and Windows 7 agrees. The same can be said for the HDD, however when opening the HDD folder in Explorer and clicking properties, the system reports that there is only 300MB or so on the drive.I have enabled, intialised and assigned a letter to the drive myself, after it was not detected by the OS. I did so in device manager/disk drives by right clicking the drive. When in Properties/Volumes and populating the data, the HDD is recognised as 1TB. It just seems to be the (E folder in Explorer that the device is shown as 300MB. I have tried to drag and drop a 15GB program folder into the Device folder, but it informs me that there is not enough space on the disk to do so.

View 0 Replies View RelatedI have a folder with a saved webpage on it on a DVD that I am trying to copy to my computer, when I try it first tells me that I need to provide administrator permission to copy the file (I thought I was admin). Then when I click continue it says: "You need permission to perform this action. You require permission from Everyone to make changes to this file"
And all I can to is keep hitting Retry. If I try to take ownership of the folder I run into another problem, when I right click the folder and go to properties, there is no security tab, just General, Sharing, and Customize. And if I uncheck the Read Only box, I get Access Denied!

I am accessing my pictures folder on my desktop from my laptop from the other side of my house. The pictures and videos folders are set to "general items", the customize tab of the properties on the folder is set to "general items" when I access it from the laptop. If I switch the pictures to "pictures" and videos to "videos" on the laptop, will it alter the folder in the desktop on which the folder resides?

I am concerned about these "Unknown Accounts" that are appearing in the security tab on folder options the type of unknown accounts are:

In terms of security on my computer it leaves a concern; i just want to known if its safe to have these unknown accounts and they're not for example a remote hacker of some sort especially when the last "account unknown" is related to a network of somesort that has access to files on my computer through a network/proxy which does concern me quite a bit and i hope not... although ive done some brief research on unknown accounts each forum is telling me a different story. If its any relation there was a standard user account that was created on windows 7 but has been deleted im just wondering if any one of them accounts has any relation to the unknown accounts.
For some reason, Windows 7 has decided that files in my root directory C: are music files.In every other folder, I can click on Properties, then choose Customize, then choose "Optimize This Folder For..." and choose the type I want - Documents, Photos, Music, General Items. You know the drill. If I click on Properties when I'm in the root C: drive, I get a pie chart showing me how much space I have left and lots of other choices, none of which let me view my files as "General Items."I don't want to sort my files in my c: directory by artist. There are no artists. Stop being helpful, Windows 7, and thinking I want it this way. I want it to be General Items.How do I do that?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've had the HP DV6-3052nr for about a year and a half. My processor is an Intel Core i7, my graphics card is the ATI Mobility Radeon 5650, and it contains 6GB of RAM. A year ago at this time, I was running the game Crysis along with other programs all at once with an accumulated memory usage of 1,500,000. The CPU was at 15% while this was happening. Today, with all other programs closed, I can hardly run Skype, Oovoo, or Minecraft without my CPU spiking to 92% - 100%. The only way for me to solve the lag produced is by restarting my laptop. Why is it that the performance has declined, and aside from formatting, what alternatives do I have to return the performance to what it had once been?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI tried to move my Music library, but instead of including the 'Music' folder in F: drive, I included the drive itself.I promptly included the 'Music' folder in F: and set it as the default location, then removed F: from the Music library locations.I've since deleted the 'Music' library twice and performed restarts for each attempt. View 1 Replies View RelatedEvery single time my windows 7 updates, my windows keep randomly tabbing or something, making it almost impossible to type anything for more than 2 seconds. So if I am typing something in Word, I will be typing for about 2 seconds when I notice that the Word Icon on the control panel becomes unhighlighted (at which point I can't type anything), and then becomes highlighted again in the next few seconds and I can type again for a bit. This cycle continues to repeat itself and I have resorted to just restoring my computer over and over again so that it has not recieved updates (Im like 20 behind or something). That's the only time the problem seems to resolve but eventully I will be needing updates no? How do I fix this?

I have reinstalled windows, updated all my drivers, even bought a new graphics card, and I am still having problems. View 3 Replies View RelatedI've had a few problems for the past 2-3 weeks-ish and i can't find any solutions, the problem consists of whenever i get into the operating system to the desktop it will load in increments ill set there for a little while and say for example my drivers that make my mouse run and say core temp at start-up wont launch for about 30 seconds but when they do they launch together it also doesn't load any of my removable drives during this time either. I've had general slowness of windows.exe when i go into documents it takes 5-7 seconds to load you can see the bar up at the top moving along like grandma on a walker. Steam has also been affected quite terribly it goes unresponsive when i try to download or do anything really in fact i can't launch it right now it just won't after i sign in it connects then goes unresponsive and closes. My mother board logo at the beginning of turning on my PC also has been slowed takes 20-30 seconds now used to take 3-5 no bios options have been changed for the logo.I'm running my OS on a crucial M4 64gb with the firmware update i believe ill have to check and all my apps are on a 1tb WD black Space wise the SSD is at 9 gigs free and the HDD is at 300gigs free

I've checked all plugins and everything is fine i built the system in march and this problem is new i suspect the motherboard bios which i have stock its a rev 0906 i believe but i'm not too sure ill update it here in a bit along with the SSD.I use Microsoft Security Essentials for security and i have ran full system scans with that and malwarebytes i run CCleaner every week and so fourth.
I used to make a FTP folder in my windows, so that I can access the FTP folder directly through Windows explorer.But I don't know why I cannot do it now.I tried to use "Add network location" wizard, type in my FTP location in "Choose a custom network location".However, it popped out an error message that it is not a correct folder.I have checked the settings of the Internet Explorer, and reset all the settings, but it still cannot solve the problem.

Is there a way to make win 7 explorer look and act like xp explorer. I also like the search feature of xp explorer and the fact that I can easily see the path name, creation and modification date. View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently installed Windows 7 and now when I open a folder containing wav files explorer jumps up to 50 to 80 CPU usage.The folder contains wav music files because I am converting them from 320 mp3, and FLAC to use in Ableton Live, which is a music workstation.The folder it originally happened to came from my previous hard drive, which may have got damaged, so the files might be corrupt.. but this issue didn't happen with the folder in question after the hard drives incident (which may have resulted it having bad sectors), when I was using windows xp.Recently I converted a FLAC file to wav using this new windows 7 install. When I tried to access the folder that it was put it, again explorer jumped up to 80 percent, dllhost.exe is also contributing the cpu strain, with around 30 cpu usage.I googled this and I was recommend to download a patch for windows 7 which promised to solve the exact problem I had, it said something about explorer taking up CPU and corrupt wav files, however even after this fix.

Maybe they autoscroll in order to display all the child's folders but I don't like this. When the folder i want to open is in the middle of the pane (vertically) it moves often to the bottom and i can't even see the child's folder, and some time it move the opened folder to the top of the pane
I just would like to have the thing working as it's in XP. When we open a folder, this one don't move and the children appears under this one.
We have just bought new PC with Windows 7 after old PC died. Have tried to transfer files from a memory stick (mainly word / excel) onto new pc but Windows exploer says memory stick folder is empty. When put stick into laptop (running I think on XP) it clearly shows files are present. Have tried copying files onto different stick but get the same problem.
New PC has Kapersky and it scanned the stick when 1st put it in and found no problems with it.
I have just upgraded to Windows 7 and have discovered an annoyance with Windows Explorer. When I expand a folder's contents (tree) by clicking on the arrow icon, the entire contents of the left panel jump to the bottom of the visible screen (rather than just the subfolders expanding). The annoyance is that every time I expand a tree in the Explorer, I also have to scroll the contents of the left panel back up (because it jumped down). For example, in Vista, if I expanded a folder tree, only the sub folders would expand and move downward.
