View 1 RepliesI've got a: Presario CQ62 notebook pc with a AMD Athlon(tm) II P320 Dual Core processor, and I can't get past the start up screen with the "starting windows" animation. It will show part of the animation then simply hang. I have a very bad battery but am keeping the computer plugged in. When I attempt a system recovery it says: "A disk read error occurred press ctrl+alt+del to restart" I've tried this many times and I get the same message each time. Beyond that I have no idea what to try.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am running a Linux OS right now and am trying to install windows 7.
I turn on he computer and run off the disc. It let's
me load off the cd but can't get past the starting windows screen. Above the
starting windows is a spot of color but no other graphic.
What do I do from here?
Tried to start up the new build after it had been working for a few days and when I am loading Windows 7 64-bit, it will stop working at the GUI screen. Here's what I've tried to do ..
1. Use startup repair (won't get past that Windows screen).
2. Tried to startup with SSD as the main drive for a working computer, got a BSOD and quick restart following GUI boot.
3. Booting from CD drive, HDD, SSD separately. Disconnected each device to see how the computer would react and nothing was working.
4. I formatted the SSD on a different computer and then tried to install windows on the SSD with no other hard disk connected. Stalls at the GUI boot screen.

Upon start-up, two options are given: "Start Windows Normally" or "Launch Startup Repair (recommended)".If the Start Windows Normally option is chosen, then the starting windows screen comes up and stays. If I launch the startup repair option, then I still can not get the problem fixed. From the Startup Repair Screen however, I can launch command prompt and restore options,a restore is not really an option because I have not set up a restore point in a while.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhile watching a live feed on the internet, it stopped responding, so i held down the power button on my laptop to turn it off with the aim of restarting it. Unfortunatley now it won't restart and freezes no the 'starting windows' page. I have tried safe mode with networking, restaring at last known good configuration, booting from cd and repairing but nothing has worked.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to fix a friends labtop. I have been on the internet trying to find an answer but nothing works from answers on internet. When you turn the computer on it shows, Windows Error Recovery. Either Launch Startup Repair or Start Windows Normally. I use Launch Startup Repair and the screen goes blank after a couple of minutes the mouse comes up and can be moved but the screen stays blank. I have pushed buttons nothing has happened, it stays here, so I have to turn it off. It starts all over again. So I try Starting Windows Normally, it will just stay at the Starting Windows logo. It will stay here forever. The windows logo will fade with the color but it will stay here. I will then turn it off and try booting in Safemode. It starts with the drivers loading but then it freezes on Loaded:windowssystem32DRIVERSAtiPcie.sys. This is for all three of safemode options. I have tried all the other boots in the options and none of them work. They all will just freeze on starting windows or go to blank screen. So I tried to boot to Windows 7 CD. I put it in and nothing comes up. There is no Click on keys to boot from cd, but the cd does make noise like it is doing something. It will just be on a blank screen. I have also reset the bios to factory.
View 6 Replies View RelatedSo after managing to get windows to repair itself: Boot Manager missing. I restarted the computer and now it hangs on "Starting Windows". This happens when trying to boot from CD/ DVD and the HDD. My Windows 7 install disk has no scratches and I can load it in another computer. Also I can boot off other CDs (like Linux perfectly).
View 9 Replies View RelatedThis has been having about 3 times now. I'll install everything on 7, restart it, and I cant get back into Windows. I just did a system restore because I couldnt get back in
Is there anything I can do to prevent this in the future?
Btw, what happens is I get past "Windows is starting up" then its a black screen with a mouse cursor, and it stays there.
I refuse to believe my 500g Sata Hard drive that has over 400gs of file and information, is all now magically a paper weight. No Physical damage has happened to the Drive at all. This is the Issue:Originally Half of the Drive was Encrypted with True Crypt and the other Half was the System Drive((C drive 50g)) and a "general" Drive/ ((175gigs)). The Problem started when some odd way it seems My Encrypted drive become corrupted to the point it would no longer easily mount. It would take 4~5Min's to mount as opposed to the normal 4~5 seconds. What happens when it did mount, The Drive was not working correctly. I couldn't access my files on that drive at all. Not only that, While it seemed like it did Mount the True Crypt Drive, my entire CPU became Non responsive. I couldn't do anything. I was unable to click on anything on the desktop, bring up task manager or even ctrl+alt+del to log off or anything. It was like it was frozen but I was only able to move the mouse...I waited a while((15~20Min's)) and went to restart the CPU by holding the power button.
Now When ever I try to load or boot from that Hard drive...Nothing Happens....It hangs at the "starting Windows" screen. I have windows 7-64bit ultimate. I tried to load from the Win 7 disk, and it hangs at a blank Screen. When I tried to use the repair feature of the Win Xp service pack 2((Remember windows XP *_*??))It hangs at analyzing the Hard drive "47850 asapii at 0 at 0 something something"..When I try to use the advance options of the Windows 7 boot, Safe mode of all types hangs at lading the drivers, Last Known good Configuration hangs at starting windows. Its Like part of the HDD doesn't want to load for anything in the world . And When I have mentioned Hangs I mean it sits there for 1~2 hours and nothing has changed.
I have ideas in my head But I don't even Know if they are possible. Oh Oh..at when I try to Load the HDD by having a back up 40g hard drive be the main booter it STILL hangs at the starting windows screen. I know its sometimes suggested to try it HDD in another CPU but if its not the main Boot Drive is that the same thing? Really don't have any Mobos that have Sata Slots for me to try that out on.I'm praying a simple chkdsk would Solve everything But there's no way I can Issue that Command. My Question(s) are:s there a Way to force the CPU to do a chkdsk command pre boot?Is there a way to have the HDD disabled at start up and enable it during the back up drives desktop((Via check for hardware changes or the "Manage" feature by right clicking computer from the start menu
I have an said laptop and it won't start at all anymore, I turn it on and I get the said logo screen then it goes to "starting windows" screen and freezes with like a fuzzy blue line on top of the screen. I used my recovery CD and tried all 3 reformatting options and nothing works, after all 3 it just restarted my laptop and it continued to have the same problem again
View 11 Replies View RelatedAs stated in the title, my computer hangs at the "Starting Windows" screen.I'm using an iMac 9.1, with a bootcamp partition on Windows 7. (I can't access my Mac OS X partition at all).I don't have a Windows 7 Installation disk or any peripheral disks.I left my computer on all night and when. I woke up the next morning only to find out my computer just had a BSOD. I force shut down my computer then it just hung at the "starting windows' screen. Im assuming its a driver problem, since I can log in using safe mode. Also startup repair doesnt work, it just gives my a black screen.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a Compaq Presario CQ61-420US Laptop, it will be a year old at the end of April 2011. It has Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OS. Never had a problem with it till now. I am planning on doing a memory upgrade (currently has 3.0 GB DDR2 PC6400 in 2 slots (1gb + 2gb), ordered a 2.0 GB chip to bring it up to 4.0 GB total memory)Anyway I wanted to make sure I could do the swap myself so I unplugged the power cord, took out the battery, unscrewed the panel on the bottom of the laptop case, found the memory chips, took out both chips very carefully, undoing the tabs holding the chips in, took them out, inspected them, put them back in the way I took them out, making sure the tabs on the chips were lined up, maing sure the contacts were making contact. Put everything back together, ordered the new 2GB memory chip.
Today I went to power up the laptop, battery in and power cord plugged in and everything lit up like normal except the screen never came on, the power button stayed lit, the network status light stayed on, the power indicator was lit, two white lights were flashing at the same time every 5 seconds though, which is abnormal, one at the top right of the keyboard which I believe is the Num-lock light and one on the far left of the keyboard which I believe is the Caps-Lock light. And thats it, nothing ever happens it never turns on (blank screen) even after 20 min's. SO I held the power button down till it powered off. Unplugged the cord, took out the battery, held the power button down for 30 seconds, put the battery back in and tried powering up again, still the same thing.
I have compaq presario sr1630nx and I have an issue that started after I opened the case and used my compressor to blow the dust out of it its not the first time ive done this like 4 times to be exact. My machines issue starts when I turn it on the fans go on but the cpu fan runs the loudest and it displays nothing other attempts it turns on normal but still nothing on the display. After idk the twentieth attempt of turning on and off it finally boots up normally, but I cant do nothing major like go on the web to long because it freezes right away. i could listen to music but it will eventually freeze after fifteen minutes or the display will turn to an orange or blue screen. The pc does have some upgrades like a graphics card for two dvi inputs and power supply which were done about a year ago.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using a dell inspiron 1440 laptop, recently replaced my internal hard drive with a new solid state drive. It was working fine until today when I tried to boot my laptop up, and it gave me a BSOD before reaching the "Starting Windows" screen. Subsequent attempts at selecting the Startup repair and start windows normally options only gave me "failed to repair", and the windows logo getting stuck respectively. Safe mode cannot be started. However, when I tried to launch startup repair from my win 7 installation disk, I found that my HDD is not detected by my laptop. Subsequently, my laptop has also told me to reseat my hard drive. I reseated it a few times, but it did not solve the problem. Diagnostics ran on my laptop did not identify any problems.
View 3 Replies View Related2 days ago my Windows 7 x64 Home premium system worked fine. I woke up the next morning and It would not load past the "Starting Windows" screen. I have a stock ASUS Essentio series computer with 8 Gigs of ram a 320Gb Western Digital Hard drive and a 6 core intel processor.
I have tried so far:
I have removed the hard drive and replaced it with an older windows vista x64 drive I have. The Windows Vista drive booted right up with no problem.
I have Booted the computer with the Vista drive as the OS drive and the Windows 7 drive as a secondary hard drive. When I did that the Windows 7 drive showed up, all the files were there but the problem was I could not access any of the files under my user folder. (access permission or something) But it seems that this would show the hard drive is not fried.
I have tried restoring the drive to an earlier restore point but each restore point I try it says that it can not restore. I have tried the windows repair option and that freezes on "Loading windows files" I have even tried going into the bios and booting under different drive settings. Nothing.
By looking through this forum It appears that there is something wrong with my Windows 7 drive booting drivers maybe. Or possibly a system update that went wrong overnight and now the OS wont boot up. (or something else I could be completely wrong)
I was browsing the web and my laptop froze. I held the powe button to turn it off and now when i turn it on, it only goes to the windows logo and no farther. If i leave it alone, after 20 minutes it goes to a black screen with a cursor. I have tried starting in safemode as well and it only loads some of the files before freezing. I have also tried startup repair. After a few minutes it gives a few options such as system restore. I tried a restore and it still doesn't load.

View 11 Replies View Relateda few months ago at Christmas I got a new Windows 7 Compaq Laptop. It ran well, and I mainly used it for the internet; however a few days ago I tried to insert a Blank Disc in the drive so I could burn a home-video onto it. However the computer didn't read it. Nothing happened. I went into my Computer and it wasn't there. So I reinserted the blank disc into my mother's computer, which is an XP Computer, and it worked fine. Baffled, I thought nothing of it until today, when I tried to insert a PC game I brought. The computer started up, as though it was going to run - then nothing happened. I went back into My Computer, and no DVD/CD Drive showed up, no autorun...it didn't read the disc.
