HP / Compaq 6735s Issue
Nov 19, 2009I have installed Windows 7 onto my HP/Compaq 6735s and picked up all the drivers except one "Unknown Device".
I have downloaded all drivers from HP and tried to install them all, however the unknown device still remains, any ideas?

May 21, 2011I just bought a HP Pavilion laptop which is running 64bit Windows 7. My old printer is Compaq IJ600 and ran on XP fine.No drivers have been made since for Vista or 7, and I am not able to figure out if I can find either an updated driver someone has created perhaps, or how to run the old drivers in 64bit.Or to get it to run in compatability mode successfully as XP or Vista. Dec 31, 2009I have a HP Compaq nc4000 which I have installed windows 7 on a clean hard drive. Windows 7 took 8 hours to install and now every time it boots up it takes around an hour before I can use it. Time to boot to the desktop is around 10 minutes, however the computer remains frozen. After an hour the computer becomes responsive and I am able to use as normal.
Also if I put the computer into Hibernation I can use it that way, however the moment I power off completely I will have to go through the same problems. At the moment I have nothing installed on the hard drive other than windows. There is no problem with my copy of windows as I was able to install this to my desktop without problems.
My system specs are:
1.4ghz processor
1GB of RAM
160GB HD
Windows 7 ultimate 32bit
From my own experience I probably think this is a driver problem, however I have gone onto HP website but there are no Windows 7 or Vista drivers available for my system. It just seems strange it all works as normal after about an hour.
I would be really grateful if anyone has any suggestions.

May 17, 2012a few months ago at Christmas I got a new Windows 7 Compaq Laptop. It ran well, and I mainly used it for the internet; however a few days ago I tried to insert a Blank Disc in the drive so I could burn a home-video onto it. However the computer didn't read it. Nothing happened. I went into my Computer and it wasn't there. So I reinserted the blank disc into my mother's computer, which is an XP Computer, and it worked fine. Baffled, I thought nothing of it until today, when I tried to insert a PC game I brought. The computer started up, as though it was going to run - then nothing happened. I went back into My Computer, and no DVD/CD Drive showed up, no autorun...it didn't read the disc.

Sep 2, 2009I'm running a clean NTFS installation of Vista Business on an HP/Compaq 8510p laptop in a domain environment. When I run Windows 7 Enterprise "Install Now" from DVD the screen will display "setup is copying temporary files" followed by "setup is starting" then a pop up dialog box called "Install Windows" stating "Windows setup cannot determine if this computer supports installing this version of windows"
Windows Upgrade Advisor runs clean stating Upgrade available.
The time between the copying screen and starting setup is seconds where-as if I boot into the DVD the copying process takes minutes.
I'm performing this as a precursor to company wide upgrade and the outcome will have a major affect on our direction.

Apr 7, 2009My Notebook is HP/Compaq CQ40-323AX. When I seed the windows7, I love it at once. And I have installed Windows 7 to virtual pc. But I want to install Windows 7 to my notebook but not virtual pc. So some problems occurred. It's the driver. Because the Windows 7 was based on the vista, I think it may run well when using the vista drivers (The drivers were downloaded at www.hp.com.cn)
Who can tell me I can do as I think? It's my thought right?
Or someone can give me a better way!
New Compaq CQ-57 Will Not Connect To Wireless Network
Dec 25, 2011I got my daughter a new Compaq CQ-57 laptop (Windows 7 sp1) and my other daughter a new Ipod touch. Started up the Ipod touch and connected to the wirless network no problem. Started up and tried to connect the new laptop to our wireless network and it will see the SSID and attempt to connect but never gets to the point of asking for the security passkey. It just puts me into turning off the router which does not help as all other devices in the house work or into the loop of trying over and over again to connect. I tried to connect to another secured network in our subdivision and it asks for their passkey. We have Verizon DSL using a Westell VersaLink 327W gateway, WEP enabled security. It is several years old but works great still. I currently have multipe devices connected with no issues. (2 Compaq CQ-60 laptops both Windows 7 sp1, 2 Ipod Touchs including the new one, WII game system from last year, 2 HTC Incredible cell phones, HP Photosmart B209A wireless printer). Not all devices are used at the same time. The gateway only has WEP security. I have tried to disable it and just have an open network, didnt work for the new computer.
