I have a HP Compaq nc4000 which I have installed windows 7 on a clean hard drive. Windows 7 took 8 hours to install and now every time it boots up it takes around an hour before I can use it. Time to boot to the desktop is around 10 minutes, however the computer remains frozen. After an hour the computer becomes responsive and I am able to use as normal.
Also if I put the computer into Hibernation I can use it that way, however the moment I power off completely I will have to go through the same problems. At the moment I have nothing installed on the hard drive other than windows. There is no problem with my copy of windows as I was able to install this to my desktop without problems.
My system specs are:
1.4ghz processor
1GB of RAM
160GB HD
Windows 7 ultimate 32bit
From my own experience I probably think this is a driver problem, however I have gone onto HP website but there are no Windows 7 or Vista drivers available for my system. It just seems strange it all works as normal after about an hour.
I would be really grateful if anyone has any suggestions.
a few months ago at Christmas I got a new Windows 7 Compaq Laptop. It ran well, and I mainly used it for the internet; however a few days ago I tried to insert a Blank Disc in the drive so I could burn a home-video onto it. However the computer didn't read it. Nothing happened. I went into my Computer and it wasn't there. So I reinserted the blank disc into my mother's computer, which is an XP Computer, and it worked fine. Baffled, I thought nothing of it until today, when I tried to insert a PC game I brought. The computer started up, as though it was going to run - then nothing happened. I went back into My Computer, and no DVD/CD Drive showed up, no autorun...it didn't read the disc.
I installed windows 7 on my HP Compaq 610 laptop a few days ago and since then the bluetooth is no longer able to detect other bluetooth devices. What can I do to correct the anomaly.
I have a Compaq Presario C700 which is giving me the following error: No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key.
I'm a technical user and have been able to fix just about anything, until now. I've done some research, and I've found that this Compaq C700 is a terrible computer that just can't be fixed. They're probably right.
I've tried to boot off an external optical drive, but this failed to load the system. I've checked the boot order is correct and that the optical drive was enabled in the BIOS, but this still did not allow me to boot from the optical drive. I knew that it recognized a system there because it had an underscore, which meant it was trying to boot from the disk, but sadly, no luck.
As for the hard drive, I've replaced it with a spare, couldn't install Windows 7 on it directly from the laptop, so I installed it on my desktop system, then put it back in. Still, the message. No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key.
I've verified every available BIOS setting to the last detail. The only thing I could think of and haven't yet tried is to try to see if there's a CMOS battery anywhere and disconnect that, but I'm not sure where that could be on a laptop, and taking this thing apart is practically impossible.
I know the CPU and system board and everything else seems to be in working order, it's just that it can't seem to work off of a Windows 7 disc or installation. A red flag for me was when I went into the BIOS (InsydeH20) it mentioned that Vista was the factory installed OS. I wonder if it's doing this because it's expecting, and is proprietary to, Vista.
I have installed Windows 7 Ultinate on my Compaq 610 laptop but it won't discover the built-in blue tooth. I have downloaded the driver from HP Site but the driver also comes up with an error that no device found, cancel installation.
My computer has just been restored to its original factory settings and for some unknown reason, this is the first time I have used it since, i cannot use the shift key on either side of my keyboard. I have looked at the accessibility options and checked to see if the keyboard itself was having problems but it comes up as running properly.
I am trying to find the right driver i know this is the name of the driver SiS Compatible VGA Multimedia Package driver for my laptop which is a compaq presario 3080us.i searched for the driver and found the driver but only for these O/S's 98, me, 2000 and xp home.
i went ahead and downloaded the xp driver but it comes up with a error that it is not compatible with windows 7. where can i find the right driver?
The Compaq laptop with windows 7 starts up with a black screen, as soon as I start it up it will start the cooling fan but the screen does nothing but just a black screen. Before this happend, I was playing minecraft and then left it and when I came back the computer had automaticly locked, I tried to put my password in then it would not let me type, no keys would come up. I then put down the laptop lid then when I lifted it up again and it just was a black screen, I tried to startup again but still black screen.
Okay, so I load up the screen, and it says "Windows Error Recovery"Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. And it has options for...Launch Startup RepairStart WindowsI tried the Launch Startup Repair, but it gets stuck at the screen, and nothing pops up. Theres just a mouse. And if I hit Start Windows, it all goes well, but then after it starts windows, before I get to the login screen, it quickly flashes to a blue screen with text on it for a few milliseconds, and then just goes ALL the way back to the Windows Error Recovery
I am trying to install Windows7 as I did earlier but now I m getting an error "Cant install on this disk Pls use another"...Now how to check whether my hard drive has gone bad or any other issue.
