Check If Bad Sectors Has Affected Windows Installation?

Jan 18, 2012

I have installed windows 7 x64, the installation went fine, it runs fine, no bsods, no crashes, no restarts, no freezes, no slowdown. Basically it just runs fine, all updates installed fine.

Now, I did a scan on the HDD, and it has bad sectors pending. I imaged the windows to another HDD.Loaded onto the other HDD, it boots fine, runs fine, idles fine, installed a few things, checked the files system, ran chkdsk ( just fix box, not the second box to repair ), all OK.So my question is, how can I know if the bad sectors on old HDD had any damage to the windows installation, and thus on the new HDD?

PC Being Affected By CB Radios?

Oct 31, 2010

I don't have any new hardware, and I have wifi turned off on this PC. Every time a vehicle passes by my building my mouse/keyboard freezes (both are wired) and starts imputing it's own characters (generally a repeated character)...goes on for 7+ seconds. I had a MS wireless mouse, and bought a cabled one just in case.It never happened on vista (the one good thing I can say about that OS), or XP.I'm sure it's a CB radio that's affecting it as I can hear them talking on my studio speakers when the keyboard/mouse freeze. (So it's police, taxis, buses, etc).I have two towers hooked up via a wired KVM switch. Just the fact that it's coinciding since the time I installed Windows 7/64-bit makes me think it's some driver thing...but how am I being affected by CB radio waves??

Does GPU Performance Will Be Affected By Virtual Pc

Oct 9, 2011

I'm a new builder looking for a good multitask/game performing build. There is no budget limitation since I'm making little money from the web with my PC,so the investment is worth the little extra cost if it allow me to push this a little more. Actually I run 1 Vmware and would like to run at least two and maybe more if I can (4 depending on the build) wile playing the latest game on my hdtv with good screen setting. (skyrim, Battlefield 3, Diablo 3) and do so without turning anything off.(if it's possible)

-Will the virtual PC affect game performance (CPU limitation of some sort)?
-Does the GPU performance will be affected by the virtual pc?
-did I need something more powerful then what I'm looking at?
-Is it only possible to run 4 virtual machine and play high demanding games?
-Is it better to make two different computer for each purpose (vmware and gaming)

Windows 7 Won't Load Due To Bad Sectors On Hdd

Nov 8, 2012

My Windows 7 system will not boot due to what I found out are bad sectors on the hard drive. I ran SeaTools to check the Seagate drive and it found several bad sectors. If I allow SeaTools to "repair" the bad sectors, will I be able to boot into Windows 7 again so I can at least save my data before replacing the hard drive?

Windows 7 Finally Installed / Bad Sectors?

Jan 17, 2012

I've been having problems with installing a fresh OS because my harddrive. When I began the clean installation process my hard drive started clicking periodically (which didn't happen till I started) I was able to partition around these bad sectors and get the OS installed. I am now sitting at a clean desktop with the computer running fine. However, I know that these bad sectors will cause problems later and I'm wanting to know what I should do now. Is there anything I can do to kill these bad sectors and ensure my hard drive to stay proper? I realize that this shows my hard drive is going bad, but I feel if I can get this taken care of then I can keep the hard drive a while longer.

Format HD With Too Many Bad Sectors?

Jan 16, 2013

This notebook started to behave badly and I found that the problem is the HDD.ItFor you to get the scenario: I first ran the Windows native disk tool and it reported no problem. But the system was still slow and freezing. So I made some googling and ran Check Disk GUI, but it couldn't complete its job. So I started to figure out that the thing was a bit harder than I first thought.I tried to defrag and optimize with Auslogics Disk Defrag Portable, and it too couldn't go all the way.I tried PartitionGuru, which, finally, could do the job in more than 48 hours of disk scan! And it reported: "Disk verify completed. 548 bad track areas found."After all that, things went worse: I couldn't start Windows, I got a "Missing operating system" message...Then I tried Wondershare LiveBoot 2012 to no avail. The last effort I want to try is use some portable app (running from a USB pen drive) to format the whole HDD.The HDD in question has three partitions. C: (system), D: (data, I created this partition), and a hidden one that keeps the data needed to restore the Acer notebook to its factory settings. If I succeed to format the whole thing, I'll try to make a fresh install of Windows 7 Home Premium. I want to format the whole HDD (from a USB pen drive) to have one single partition.

Chkdsk /v 8kb In Bad Sectors?

Feb 23, 2012

I made a chkdsk and found errors which were repaired by not allowing the bad fragments to be written on. When I use chkdsk /v it continually shows 8kb in bad sectors. Does anyone know if these are the bad sectors that were sent into limbo or the total bad kb on the hard drive? I have made back ups of my documents and the OS. I think that these bad sectors were caused by a recent freeze which required a bad shutdown. If so I may not be required to replace the harddrive.

Hard Drive Bad Sectors

I did a CHKDSK and it had some bad sectors and plenty of file corruption. Ran the Hitachi DFT software and it seemed to think it has rescued it, but I'm using another drive now just in case.

Luckily I could still access my e-mails when I accessed the drive from another system, and everything else is backed up via Acronis.

Manually Deleted Adobe Program And Now All Adobe Programs Are Affected

Sep 18, 2011

I downloaded Adobe Photoshop (Portable) and installed it. Then I wanted to change the location where it was saved. I tried to move it but it couldnt be moved so I copied and pasted it into a new location. I know I should uninstall but since I just wanted 1 copy, I deleted one. After that, most of the other Adobe programs were affected. When I opened some, they would say that some files are missing or my license has expired. Some started asking for serial number or to register. When I opened Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.0 it said Photoshop Elements Help was missing and there were missing icons on the right side. I uninstalled and reinstalled the programs. I downloaded some but they cant be installed. It always says some files are missing.

Asus P9x79 Ssd Installation With New Installation Of Windows 7 Pro?

May 16, 2012

So i have a new SSD Corsair Force 3 240 gig and all I want to do is install Windows 7 Pro on it. This board does not support parted magic (cannot wake from sleep and there are no onboard video to wake up to) so ive resorted to clean all.I have not been able to successfully boot the OS on the SSD. I never intended on setting up raid but apparently all the literature i see is on raid. I created a USB install disk as reccomended onto a 8gig ntfs primary active did the bootsect /nt60 X: and it successfully worked copied the cd over to the flash drive and copied the rste drivers in a folder called drivers My SSD is installed on port 1 6gig sata intel (as this board doesnt have marvel apparrently) My DVD is installed on 3gig Sata port 6 I set up Raid in the bios as reccomended by others (as this is the only way to install ssd?).

Nothing UEFI is enabled There are no other drives hooked up to the computer. Just SSD, USB cordless mouse, keyboard and no network cord or WIFI i started with a clean ssd as reccomended my bios recognized the ssd on post i booted into the win 7 install (MBR not uefi) i loaded the 64 bit rste drivers from asus as reccomended by others i left the machine to install the usb then booted into windows install (for whatever reason) i pushed f8 to boot my corsair windows brings up an error on a black screen File: windows/system32/drivers/adpahci.sys driver did not load Status: oxc0000221 Info: Windows Failed to load because of a critical system driver is missing or corrupt
