View 3 Replies View RelatedBack in the fall when I switched over to Windows 7 Home Premium x64 from Vista Home Premium SP2 x64, I installed the software for my Canon Pixma MX700 multifunctional printer. I used the original Vista driver installer disc, and despite an warning message about a "known compatibility issue" the printer and scanning functions worked fine. I use the Pixma on the LAN via a wired ethernet connection. Worked fine for occasional scanning in November, December, and January. Then for months I had no need to scan anything, just printing over the network with no problems.Last weekend I needed to scan something. I usually just push the scan button on the printer, verify the computer it's going to scan to (it lists them), and away it goes. This time my computer threw an error about the scanner driver saying the scanner wasn't on the network. Huh? If the scanner's not on the network how did the computer know it was trying to send a scan... So I bailed on that and instead used the MP Navigator EX software on the computer. It failed too, giving the "scanner not connected" error, either using Navigator's direct interface or telling it to open the scanner driver which brings up a slightly different interface (when it worked).First I went to the Canon site and d/l'ed all the latest drivers for 7 x64 and installed them. Still get the same errors. Tried setting it up to scan via USB temporary connection. If I install it that way it works, but it's not a long term solution. And it stops working after a reboot. The odd thing is the scanner works over the LAN after I set it up for USB (when using NAvigator, because the scan to lan button on the printer doesn't work of course), again until reboot.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHardware Canonscan LiDE 600F / Windows 7 x64 Pro?I have tried to install "LiDE 600F Scanner Driver Ver. 12.1.2 (Windows 7 x64/Vista64/XP x64)" lide600fvst641212ea15.exe (version:12.1.2 Size:12.19MB Posted:10/19/2009). But although it SAYS that it has installed correctly, TWAIN does not fire up and I am unable to use the scanner. It also makes a weird noise through the computer's loud speaker going "dee-dum" every 2 seconds.(Fwiw, the sound is like two low-ish frequency guitar strings being plucked, about 1 octave apart). Also in the Control Panel unders System the scanner dialogue is disappearing and refreshing every 2 seconds as well.It sounds to me like something is rejecting the driver, but not showing any error message to screen.- Is there any way to (permanently) "give permission" to the driver to run?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a new Canon MX860 connected to my wireless LAN. My XP laptop can print and scan with no problems. However, my new Windows 7 laptop will print but not scan. Have tried uninstalling/reinstalling the Canon software and drivers (with firewall/antivirus turned off - as per Canon advice). The message is always the same:" Cannot communicate with scanner for these reasons-scanner is disconnected-scanner is turned off.
Have tried using Scangear Tool but it can't find the scanner-even when I sit it within 30cms of both the laptop and my wireless router. Canons last response is that it must be an incompatibility with Windows 7 as the printer works fine with XP- I have to take it up with Microsoft- Canon for the support. Canon IJ Network Utility also loaded but will not run with Windows 7 (64 bit). Also tried changing compatibility settings for all software & drivers in various combinations - but the message is the same. People on this forum resolved my only other problem with spooler errors

View 1 Replies View RelatedHave a Canon ip6000d printer hooked up to a Win7 32bit machine. I installed the "printer add-on module" for Win7 on this machine and it prints fine. I share it across the network so that I can print from my Win7 64bit laptop but I can not install the driver for it. The laptop sees the printer when I try to "add a printer" but it looks for a 64bit driver. So I installed the "printer add-on module" onto the laptop, and still nothing, it continues to look for a driver. So I then directly connected the printer (usb) to the laptop, it installed itself and works perfectly fine. So I reconnected it back to the 32bit machine and tried to "add a printer" again over the network and it still asks for the 64driver. I can't find a regular .inf driver file anywhere for this printer, just the damn "printer add-on module".

View 2 Replies View RelatedThe software on the CD which came with my HP 2605dn runs fine under WinXP. It includes both the PCL6 driver for the printer as well as a Java-based utility named "HP Toolbox" that allows for communication with the printer when attached via USB.However since the printer itself is supported "native" by Windows 7, the drivers for the printer get installed properly when Windows 7 is installed (printer should be ON at install, rather than OFF as is usually the case when installing drivers for a USB device after-the-fact, e.g. from the software CD under WinXP).But the software CD actually is not usable under Windows 7, which means the HP Toolbox utility that would normally also be installed cannot be installed! This is a problem.
When the printer is attached via network, it can be communicated with directly (e.g. 102.168.1.102) from a browser. This is good enough to get lots of device status information. However the browser interface does not include some functions provided by HP Toolbox, such as "Troubleshooting" which includes running the "cleaning page" function to try and get rid of toner from the paper/ribbon path. The black cartridge has a built-in "toner cleaner" that should normally be used when changing the black cartridge, but there's also a separate process to clean the ribbon... and this comes from HP Toolbox.So... I've tried to find an acceptable place to find a Windows 7-installable version of HP toolbox. Unsuccessful. HP site seems to be a never-ending series of dead-ends, wrong printer, etcWorthless.
I've also tried to reach HP by phone all day today, but I've been in the hold queue forever (perhaps they're closed for MLK Day, so I'll try them tomorrow). But does anybody out there already have a solution to this? Is there some way I can manually install HP Toolbox from my existing software CD... or is that just impossible? If not, is there some web location where HP has made a downloadable version of a Windows 7-compatible installer file?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently installed an Intel X-25 M 120GB SSD in my VAIO SR290 notebook. The notebook has a Core2Duo T9600 cpu, 6 GB of RAM and is running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1.Everything seems to be working fine, but the Intel Solid State Drive Toolbox app (version 2.01.00) is a bit flaky. Sometimes it won't "see" the SSD when I run it (I fire it up every week or so to run the TRIM function even though I shouldn't need to with Win 7). A reboot usually (but not always) fixes the issue.

View 3 Replies View RelatedVista x64 natively supported a bunch of canon printers with x64 drivers. For some printers this support has gone under Windows 7 x64. Perhaps this will help some people ... .
I mounted a Vista x64 ISO-image/source, extracted the folder with the canon printer drivers and installed the Colorpass Z40e driver under Windows 7 x64. In my case I used this driver für a Canon Colorpass Z400e (Canon CLC 1100).
Extraxct :
- use 7zip
- under options check "wim"
- open the install.wim an verify your vista version (important if there is a 64bit and 32 bit version on the same DVD, in my case there was only a 64bit on the systembuilder DVD)
- choose the right folder and extract the canon printer driver folder with 7zip
windowssystem32driverstorefilerepositoryprnca001.inf_c505b61f
that is it .
Upgraded desktop to 64-bit and discovered that my Canon LiDe80 and Canon PIXMA iP4000 drivers are incompatible. So after some research and not sure how accurate, I read that the professional version would allow more of the 32-bit drivers to work.
Is that correct?

It's like whenever i try to click check for updates button it's like something is blocking it from connecting and scanning is the best way I can explain it. I desperately need help to update all my software and security patches etc
