View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently installed an Intel X-25 M 120GB SSD in my VAIO SR290 notebook. The notebook has a Core2Duo T9600 cpu, 6 GB of RAM and is running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1.Everything seems to be working fine, but the Intel Solid State Drive Toolbox app (version 2.01.00) is a bit flaky. Sometimes it won't "see" the SSD when I run it (I fire it up every week or so to run the TRIM function even though I shouldn't need to with Win 7). A reboot usually (but not always) fixes the issue.
View 5 Replies View RelatedThe software on the CD which came with my HP 2605dn runs fine under WinXP. It includes both the PCL6 driver for the printer as well as a Java-based utility named "HP Toolbox" that allows for communication with the printer when attached via USB.However since the printer itself is supported "native" by Windows 7, the drivers for the printer get installed properly when Windows 7 is installed (printer should be ON at install, rather than OFF as is usually the case when installing drivers for a USB device after-the-fact, e.g. from the software CD under WinXP).But the software CD actually is not usable under Windows 7, which means the HP Toolbox utility that would normally also be installed cannot be installed! This is a problem.
When the printer is attached via network, it can be communicated with directly (e.g. 102.168.1.102) from a browser. This is good enough to get lots of device status information. However the browser interface does not include some functions provided by HP Toolbox, such as "Troubleshooting" which includes running the "cleaning page" function to try and get rid of toner from the paper/ribbon path. The black cartridge has a built-in "toner cleaner" that should normally be used when changing the black cartridge, but there's also a separate process to clean the ribbon... and this comes from HP Toolbox.So... I've tried to find an acceptable place to find a Windows 7-installable version of HP toolbox. Unsuccessful. HP site seems to be a never-ending series of dead-ends, wrong printer, etcWorthless.
I've also tried to reach HP by phone all day today, but I've been in the hold queue forever (perhaps they're closed for MLK Day, so I'll try them tomorrow). But does anybody out there already have a solution to this? Is there some way I can manually install HP Toolbox from my existing software CD... or is that just impossible? If not, is there some web location where HP has made a downloadable version of a Windows 7-compatible installer file?
seems there is no driver for a canon lide 50 and the win 7 32 bit os?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWin 7 Pro, Core i7, GB drives. Need to BU WORD documents and photos, soon digital camcorder films. Used Genie8 for years happily as the BU images on EHD can be read in clear. Then it stopped being able to save to follow on optical disks. Come to end of life. The company has been splendid in support too. Bought Genie Timeline Pro 2012 on trust but it is chalk and cheese, wildy different and not for me. Took all night to BU initially, etc. Incredibly if the EHD is not left connected all the time, it keeps on doing BU on the machine it's self! Now what is the point of BU on a machine that can be stolen or destroyed in a fire etc. ?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI tried windows 7 for a year, I am done, I just can't do it.I absolutely hate the explorer and just about everything else.I have done everything I can to adjust and just can't do it. I am going to have to revert back to XPP.I really want a 64 bit process for the memory access.I want something as close to XPP or W2k as possible.Has anyone tried XPP64? I have tried classic shell its better but still not XPP.I already have a Linux box, its great Love it, definitely the future unfortunately a lot of the programs I need are still windows and I need 64bit.I used server 2003 briefly its pretty good, but I know nothing about 2008. Is 2008 explorer closer to XP or vista/7.This will be for a brand new 6 core I7 Desktop that I will build. I do not care one bit about support or updates, I turn auto updates off and only update when there is a new SP.I will not really be using windows much except for swapping files and a few simple windows program and thus the need for a good explorer. Most of my time will be spent in virtual machines.

Thinking of going with a push-pull set up for CM 212 Evo using the stock fan on one side. What's a good (preferably quiet) fan for the opposite side (pull)
Needs to be 120mm btw, the CM 212 Evo comes with mounting brackets to attach the fans either side.
I can't even connect to my router with windows 7 now, but my ipod works fine. Is there a BETTER alternative to the built in windows connection manager? I'm on windows 7 ultimate 64 bit
View 3 Replies View RelatedThe users here can't stand WLM with its over-busy interface and buried everyday functions and so I found a nice simple email prog called Sylpheed. It is very easy to use and quick. It works fine with one exception. It is not listed in default program options ( like it didn't exist) and so if you try to email out of an app, you are told no program is installed.

View 1 Replies View RelatedNot looking for anything fancy or complicated - at the moment I use WMP and I am happy playing 320k mp3s although this might change and the requirement is an easy method of cutting the last played tracks from a random list and placing them at the bottom of the list. Also it would be nice to add new tracks in a random order to places within the list. The main thing is to listen to something new rather than repeat stuff. My list mainly consists of favourites and will probably not exceed 1000 items.

My Mozilla Firefox (newest version) since yesterday keeps opening up in a default homepage (bankofamerica) and I don't even use Bank of America~! View 3 Replies View RelatedI have had the same problem for more than 6 months..None of the solutions anyone posts has worked. This is my second time posting here. Previous threads have been closed, but not because any solution was found. It's possible there may be more than one cause for the same or similar error.I've had this problem now for the last 6 months at least. Every single time I use Chrome.. it's the same thing. My system freezes and I have to wait for the dialog to pop up with Chrome.exe and please insert a disk in blah blah blah.. When the dialog pops up right away I can just click try again and it goes away, but other times the dialog doesn't pop up for a minute or longer.Incredibly frustrating. It makes me want to chuck my computer out the window, even though it's an awesome computer.
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy wife's computer has an issue that just started a week ago that's driving me nuts. The PC has been running Windows 7 Home Edition (64 bit) for over a year. She sat down to use her computer and tried to open IE (IE9). When she clicked on it, a window popped up that says "Internet explorer has stopped working". What's more troublesome is that NONE of the browsers on her PC worked (FF, Chrome, IE). They all give similar error messages and refuse to start.A friend of mine tried all of the following with no luck (the PC rebooted after each of these tasks):
Removed Chrome and FF. No change.
ran Avast
ran Malwareybytes
ran Adaware
ran Microsoft Security Essentials
[code]....
The kicker is that after all of this, I decided to install Opera and Safari and they work!! But the other three browsers still won't work! Also, if I boot into Safe Mode, all browsers work (IE, FF, Chrome). No changes were made to her computer prior to this happening. I really want to avoid re-installing Windows 7.
Installed Chrome 16.0912.63, and am happy with it except for one thing, would like to customize the toolbar so the forward/back arrows, refresh, home, etc. icons are on the right side of the screen. There seems to be very few toolbar options, or my searching is really really flawed

When I go to Verify Java Version at Java.com in Firefox and Chrome they return Version 7 Update 9 but the test never returns a result in IE9. I uninstalled and reinstalled Java, Java add-ons are enabled. Security settings look ok.Some sites return "An add-on for this website failed to run". Same sites in Firefox and Chrome work fine. Java games don't work in IE9 but same games play in Firefox and Chrome.
