View 1 RepliesI currently have a hard drive set as a backup drive but am getting the message that there's no room left on the drive to write the new backups. I have to go in and manually delete the old backups. Is there anyway Windows 7 can automatically do this to so that it can write the new ones? I couldn't find any and after searching Google it doesn't look like it's possible. Is there any way through Task Scheduler maybe?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI bought a Asus U36J laptop back in April of last year and ever since then I have been beating around an issue that I dont seem to be able to resolve one way or the other. When ever the laptop is on battery and in battery saving mode it has my taskbar on autohide. If I turn that off, then it stays off right until it is put back into battery saving mode at which point it is "magically" ticked on again.
Is there no way to simply disable that feature, as its annoying me greatly. I know its tied into the battery saving desktop, and I want to keep the battery saving desktop but want a full taskbar all the time. I found a supposed fix to make that happen, and while it actually makes the taskbar appear all the time, it still is a bad hack as any windows I have open wont "attach" to the taskbar but attaches to the buttom of the screen.
So for the love of god is there no sane way for me to keep the battery saving desktop but get rid of the autohiding taskbar. Otherwise I know Asus most likely wont be my laptop of choice next time aroumd.

View 7 Replies View RelatedA laptop of mine contracted a virus, and installed a fake antivirus program. I was able to uninstall the fake antivirus, but now I have another problem. Every time I turn on / restart the laptop, I get the message "Windows has encountered a critical problem and will restart automatically in one minute, please save your work now". The laptop then restarts, ad infinitum. Now, having done a quick google search, I see lots of reccommendations involving either going into Safe Mode or using the Advanced Boot Options. Problem is, I can't get the F8 menu screen to come up on the problem laptop. I have another laptop of the exact same model - this one is uninfected and I can get the F8 menu up just fine, so it's nothing to do with me mis-timing pushing the button. I have tried going into Safe Mode via the Boot options in msconfig, but alas I get the same error message in Safe Mode, too, and again my computer is forced to restart.

So I go in the list of networks, click "Other Network" and type in my SSID. It says it's connecting but then it says there was a problem connecting. So I troubleshoot and it troubleshoots and when its done it says there is a problem with my wireless adapter or access point and it fixed it and I have internet.

I rebooted in safemode and looked for the file in autorun (I enabled searching for empty locations, verify code signatures, and hide microsoft entries and pressed F5).I can't find crsss.exe in any of the image paths. Is this a common malware virus that goes by a different name or something in autorun or am I missing something?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am using IE9 Browser on a Windows 7 Professional Platform. I would like to enable IE9 to open up a downloaded file (in this case .doc / .docx ) file directly without asking me if I want to Run / Save / Cancell the download.
(As an example : I have a word document on a website. When I click on the link for the word document I want it to open up directly in Word 2007. Without any prompts coming from the IE 9 Browser about saving or opening the file).
Is there any way to Auto save passwords for sites in IE without having to click the remember button? Like, is there a way to configure my IE to just autommatically save user/pass info for every site that I log into? I have yet been able to figure this out, and I have accounts for tons of sites and never remember to click the "remember" button and constantly have to reset my pass, which makes it even harder. If there was a way to auto save, so when I go to a site, I can look it up in a password protected folder.

View 1 Replies View RelatedFrom all my research this doesn't look possible, but I thought I would ask anyway.Environment:- Windows domain environment - 2 2008 R2 AD servers, 1 2003 AD server, 2003 functional level for now- Mostly XP machines, new medical tablets and all-in-one pcs will have windows 7 32-bitIs there a way to auto log off disconnected client user sessions in windows 7? I know there is a way to log off disconnected sessions in terminal services using an idle timer, but from everything I've read you can't do this on a client. I found Grim's screen saver log off solution here and it works if no one uses the fast user switching ability. My problem is that the medical tablets probably will not sit long enough for the auto log off to kick in. A user will come by pick up a machine that the last user didn't log off (and never will, even if I tell them they will lose their jobs if they don't!) and do a switch user function, leaving a disconnected session. This will probably happen multiple times, leaving many disconnected sessions and a slow device. I would disable fast user switching, but our single sign on software must have fast user switching enabled in order to function properly. So much so that it overrides group policy and registry edits.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've recently started having an issue whereby my desktop icons (and by extension the icons in the start bar) keep refreshing. It's not a constant thing - usually several minutes pass between refreshes - and I'm not entirely sure what's triggering it or why it keeps on happening, still less how to go about fixing it. A scheduled system scan for viruses last night came up negative, so did a quick scan I ran this evening. On the advice of a user in another thread about the same issue, I've also downloaded Malwarebytes and ran a full scan using that.
