i just wonder, after you install a program and you don't like it and you uninstall it there will be always a folder left, maybe some entries in the registry. get rid off these unwanted things? Is the manual deletion the only option?

My new Acer TravelMate, which has draft N capability, was happy (but slow) on the old system and works OK when I connect it to the new router by ethernet. However when I to connect it via wifi it says "The settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirements of the network".
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a 64 bit laptop. When I go to 'my computer' and OS appears under Hard Disk Drives, it says I have 25.3 GB free of 283 GB. I deleted a lot of images and folders and programs that I didn't need, I even deleted over 5,000 songs I've had but it's made no difference. I've gone through all the folders that I know of and into Uninstall and gotten rid of what I could. The bar is red and there is not much room left. How can I find things to delete to make this go down? It never used to be like this and I think it's messing with the performance majorly.

I have to go in and manually delete the old backups. Is there anyway Windows 7 can automatically do this to so that it can write the new ones? I couldn't find any and after searching Google it doesn't look like it's possible. Is there any way through Task Scheduler maybe?

How do I unlink with them so I don't continually get a bunch of junk mail like this?
View 9 Replies View RelatedIn Microsoft Outlook, if you open an email you've received and click on the "delete" icon, the email window just closes and takes you back to the main Outlook window. This is an option that you set in the preferences, but Windows Mail either doesn't have it or I just can't find it.
What happens in Windows Mail is that when you click on the delete icon, instead of closing the email and going back to the main window, it just goes to the next email.
Has anyone figured this one out?

View 1 Replies View RelatedIn My Computer, (arrived at via keystroke: Windows Key-E,) what is the significance of the different colored lines indicating how full the hard disk drives are? The colors I see are tourquoise and red. Based on a sample too small to be conclusive, I suspect red means the hard drive is full beyond a certain point. If that's the case, at what point does the line become red, is that point adjustable, and are there any other customizable aspects of this function?

They made it so the C: drive is around 58GB, and the D: is the other GBs which add up to 500GB. She is practically out of room on her C: and the computer is almost unusable. I already deleted the D: partition, but the partition manager in Windows 7 won't let me extend the partition to fill up all of the space. The option to extend it is just grayed out.

How can I make the icon fill the space? It fills the space on the host computer (where the files are) but it won't fill the "Extra large icon" space on the network computer, it remains small size on all view options. It shows lots of white space surrounding the icon when the view is set to medium, large, and extra large views, and I want the icon to fill the space.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am having a strange issue that appears to be related to my video driver, settings, etc.
I play several different video games on my PC and each one of them has the option to play in Windowed mode or Full Screen mode. Until recently switching a game to full screen mode made it fill up the entire window. In the last day or so, something has changed where now the game doesn't re-size itself when in full-screen mode. Instead, it stays the same size and a black border is drawn around all four sides. To make things ever weirder... it doesn't do this on all my games, but it does it on most.
Here are some screenshots to demonstrate the issue more clearly.
Regular Windowed Mode
Full Screen Mode
I have tried everything I can to fix it but I am stumped. I have changed various settings for each game but nothing has worked. I have also looked around at the settings in Windows 7 but I couldn't find anything that fixed it.
I bought a Asus U36J laptop back in April of last year and ever since then I have been beating around an issue that I dont seem to be able to resolve one way or the other. When ever the laptop is on battery and in battery saving mode it has my taskbar on autohide. If I turn that off, then it stays off right until it is put back into battery saving mode at which point it is "magically" ticked on again.
Is there no way to simply disable that feature, as its annoying me greatly. I know its tied into the battery saving desktop, and I want to keep the battery saving desktop but want a full taskbar all the time. I found a supposed fix to make that happen, and while it actually makes the taskbar appear all the time, it still is a bad hack as any windows I have open wont "attach" to the taskbar but attaches to the buttom of the screen.
So for the love of god is there no sane way for me to keep the battery saving desktop but get rid of the autohiding taskbar. Otherwise I know Asus most likely wont be my laptop of choice next time aroumd.

I do not have wireless internet, I have broadband connection. I do not know this computer and I did not add it. At first I thought some sort of virus did it. I have reinstalled Windows, thinking that it would solve the problem, yet the unknown computer is still there. I have tried flushing the dns from the command prompt and other similar tricks, rebooted my computer but it's still there. I would like to know how to block and remove this computer from the Network folder. Note that I am not part of any workgroup and I do not own a workgroup. Also I am using Windows 7 Ultimate.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAs a personal preference, I run with the taskbar positioned on the left side of the screen with autohide set. In all previous versions of Windows, when I set the width of the taskbar (usually about 1 inch, so I can see more than just the icon for each task and the quick launch area is three or four icons wide) it stays that way, whether the taskbar is locked or unlocked. With Windows 7, after I set the width, any time the system restarts, whether from Hibernation, reboot, initial startup, what-ever - the taskbar is back to the narrowest setting.
