Importing Email Addresses From Outlook Express To Windows 7 Live Mail
Jan 21, 2012I have bought a new computer with Windows 7 preinstalled. Before setting it up I backed up all my outstanding emails (204 .dbx files) and email addresses (one .wab file size 176kb) from my old computer on to a memory stick. I now want to import them into Windows Live Mail. I have gone through the recommended procedure for the emails, but only some of them have come across. I have been totally unable to import the addresses. The only procedures I have found seem to relate to a different version of Live Mail because they tell me to click on things that don't appear on my screen!It occurs to me that maybe not all the messages are being imported because I haven't imported the relevant contact details. Could this be the case? By the way I can't go back to the old computer as it has completely died, which is why I replaced it.

Oct 25, 2010I applied a Windows Update the other day without realizing that I was doing a major update from Windows Live Mail to WLM 2011. The installation progress window stopped at about 50% complete and just stayed there. After doing some Googling about the update (KB2434419) I read that behind the progress window is another window which asks the user whether all Windows Live apps are to be installed and updated or just the ones that have already been installed. I had been using only Windows Live Mail, so I chose to update only that application to WLM 2011. The installation appeared to run successfully, and I have been using WLM 2011 for two days. It works fine, although I've had to get familiar with numerous changes to its appearance and user interface.
The Windows Update icon is still at the right end of my taskbar, however, and when I click on it, the progress window is still showing "Installing update 1 of 1" about 50% complete as if it does not realize that the installation of WLM 2011 finished two days ago! The only option in that window is a "Stop installation" button. I am afraid to click that button in case it initiates a rollback of the WLM 2011 installation. Why does Windows Update think that the installation isn't complete? How do I terminate the session of Windows Update and not disturb the WLM 2011 installation that completed two days ago? Do I dare kill the Windows Update process that is running?
Windows Live Mail Categories Not Saving All Addresses
Oct 13, 2012I noticed that my WLM categories were somehow corrupted and missing some names. When I click the category on the left, in the list of names on the right they are all there. However when clicking edit I notice some addresses are missing. They are also missing when attempting to send mail. When I add the missing addresses and click save they are not actually saved. I tried deleting the category and making a new one and that seemed to work for a while but the next time I logged onto WLM the same names were missing again.

May 24, 2011(intel dual core CPU, 1.5GB RAM, 320GB HDD, Intel GMA950.) windows lime mail 2011 (latest build) uses way too much cpu 60% or so and RAM usage goes up to 300MB and more. renders pc unusable after some time it just starts not responding. have to end task.

Jun 10, 2012yesterday I upgraded my HDD to a SSD and clean installed windows 7 home premium onto the SSD. I then updated windows and installed windows live mail 2011, but when I try to run the program it comes up with "Windows Live Mail could not be started.It may not be installed correctly. Make sure that your disk is not full or that you are not out of memory.0x80041161)".I have adequate space and 16GB of RAM, I have tried running wlarp.exe, unistalling and reinstalling and deleting everything windows live mail related (including the registry data) before reinstalling. I have also tried installing and copy and pasting the program files from my old pc with no success.

I have a Vista 32 PC using "Windows Mail" and want to transfer email folders (lots) and messages to Windows 7 using Windows Live Mail 2011.Windows Mail was a replacement for Outlook express on Vista.Windows Live Mail 2011 is a replacement for Windows Mail on Windows 7.I tried a couple of things.
1) Basic Export and ImportI exported relavent files: Account info, Contacts and all the messages to a folder (in Windows Mail format) on old computer and used the old "Addias" transfer - copied folder to stick and RAN it over to the new computer.
- Imported (using the Windows Mail format) the Account info successfully,
- imported the Contact info successfully.
- Import Messages - appeared at first to be successful
Issue: Message folders appear to be renamed and some folder names have been truncated, not all folders appear to be there. (Looks like "long Name folders greater that 8 characters get truncated)
2) Tried the "Easy transfer mechanism (Vista and Win7 transfer utility) - but couldn't get the new computer to see the Vista even though I could see them on the network. I thought that this would transfer the folder names correctly.I'm about to try a time consuming effort of coping folder by folder (export/Import)What I am more concerned about is that the individaul messages may have the same issue Ie not all coming accross and subject names being lost. Looking for alternative or third party transfer solutions?

Nov 15, 2012A friend of mine has a problem with his Windows Live Mail client. He's running Win 7 HP 64 bit with the Windows Live Mail client and a Hotmail ID. His problem is that he sometimes sees emails mysteriously multiplying emails in his folders - this includes his deleted mail folder!
We have tried asking questions in the official Microsoft Mail forums but have received no response. What I would like to do is to delete his Mail.MSMessageStore database in both the Windows Live Mail folder and the Backup folder. I believe doing this will cause Windows Live Mail to recreate the Mail.MSMessageStore database. However I would like to be sure, before I do this, that he will continue to have access to all his (offline) Storage Folders, as well as his normal mail folders, after doing this. Does anyone know whether deleting the MSMessageStore database will cause any data loss or is it a totally harmless step?
Live Mail 2011 - Receiving Emails Fine But Will Not Send

The attempted sent messages do not appear in the sent or outbox folders, but when I close the program I am asked if I want to send the unsent items. Jun 28, 2012After I updated to Windows Live Mail 2011, a strange problem occurred. When I send an e-mail, program simply deletes all the spaces I made between the lines by pressing "enter" and the recipient receives my e-mail as one single paragraph. If I make spaces between the lines by pressing "shift+enter" it doesn't do that and everything works normal. I want to give/make spaces between the lines simply by pressing enter as it should be.

All of my emails, settings, contacts and accounts are gone. I can see all the folders when I look under C:Users... but I don't know how to restore all of it.

Mar 11, 2010My installation of Windows Live Mail automatically checks for and retrieves email even though I have set it NOT to do that.
In Tools - Options - General I unchecked "Send and receive messages at startup" and "Check for new messages every [time is grayed out]" Yet the program still automatically checks for email and downloads it.
I have my Hotmail account set up, and I could sort of see that account automatically retrieveing mail, but I also have other accounts set up through my ISP and through my own domain, and these are also being automatically checked even though I have cleared the checkboxes described above.
I have closed the program and rebooted since unchecking those boxes (this has been going on for an extended time, several weeks at least). Am I missing some option somewhere, or is this just broken? I can't imagine it's the intended behavior. I'm running Windows 7 x64, Windows Live Mail Version 2009 (Build 14.0.8089.0726).
