Minimizing Windows Live Mail 2011 To System Tray Not Working
Jul 28, 2011
I changed the compatibility to Vista SP2 and restarted Live Mail, right clicked the taskbar icon but there is no option to minimize to system tray. Has something changed?
I have a problem that's backwards to most questions that I've seen. I have two windows, say Window A and B. Buttons for both show on my taskbar. In the past, I've been able to toggle between the two by clicking on the taskbar button for the window that is on top. So, if window A is on top, I could click on its taskbar button and that would minimize window A to the taskbar, showing window b. When I wanted to see window A, again, I could click on its taskbar button, and it would again display window A on top of window b.Now, when I click the taskbar button for window a, the window minimizes to the System Tray, instead of the taskbar. The toggle function that I found so handy is broken.
I have noticed that when I close some programs, like HardDiskSentinal (by clicking the red "X" in the upper right corner) that they do not actually close, but instead minimize into the system tray. I was wondering if there was a way to make any application do this. If possible I would like to do this without installing another application.
just had the live mail update to 2011, in the old live mail you could change the background of your outgoing emails both color or with an image. personaly I had a feint rose as my default background for all my emails, now its plain?
Good Morning seven Forums,I tried to find a forum dedicated to just Windows Live Mail Essentials win 7 Pro, did not find one if it does exist. My Question: Where in Options for Windows Live Mail Essentials 2011 can I remove the requirement that large emails messages will be divided into 256KB sizes. I checked each option tab and contents in options, Mail and other sections, could not find that options endabled. I want to disable it if possible. I get many emails with large powerpoints that I would like to share with otheres and family. In the cases where messages have been sent divided up never could be re-assembled at the recipient.
I would like to temporarily see my Contacts list sorted by last name, since I am comparing it with a printed directory that is sorted that way. However, the Contacts list is currently sorted by first name. I haven't found an option to change the sort order. Is there one? This would only be temporary, since I normally like to use the Contacts sorted by first name.
Evening all, I recently upgraded to Win 7 Home Premier from XP Home and I am not impressed. When I try to send email using Windows Live Mail 2011 I get the following mesage Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this could be Server problems. network problems or along period of inactivity.Subject FW: Update on keeping fit.Server Error. 451Server Response 451 invalid Smtp line should end with CRLF.Server 'mail.btinternet.comWindows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0FProtocol: SMTPPort 25Secure (SSL):No.
I'm having trouble with Windows Live Mail 2011. It crashes everytime I use it. Sometimes it crashes immediately on startup, other times it crashes a couple minutes after startup. Here's my error message:
Description Stopped working Faulting Application Path: C:Program Files (x86)Windows LiveMailwlmail.exe Problem signature Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: wlmail.exe
(intel dual core CPU, 1.5GB RAM, 320GB HDD, Intel GMA950.) windows lime mail 2011 (latest build) uses way too much cpu 60% or so and RAM usage goes up to 300MB and more. renders pc unusable after some time it just starts not responding. have to end task.
i like to go change open windows using alt+tab, but its seems it can only open active IE9 tab is there a way using alt + tab see all the tabs open in IE9
yesterday I upgraded my HDD to a SSD and clean installed windows 7 home premium onto the SSD. I then updated windows and installed windows live mail 2011, but when I try to run the program it comes up with "Windows Live Mail could not be started. It may not be installed correctly. Make sure that your disk is not full or that you are not out of memory.0x80041161)".I have adequate space and 16GB of RAM, I have tried running wlarp.exe, unistalling and reinstalling and deleting everything windows live mail related (including the registry data) before reinstalling. I have also tried installing and copy and pasting the program files from my old pc with no success.
[MS Windows 7 Home; Windows Live Mail 2011; Firefox]I created quite a few folders in my Windows Live Mail 2011, at the left side column, and have tried many different ways to alphabetize them without success.Additionally, when I open a new folder it doesn't get automatically alphabetized either.
Why can't Windows Live Mail 2011 use the icon that is pinned to the taskbar when it goes into execution like every other Windows 7 program I run? Instead it creates a duplicate icon on the right end of the taskbar. One would think that if anyone followed Windows 7 conventions it would be Microsoft.
Is it possible for the program NOT to open the next message when deleting the current, opened message? If I delete the current opened message, I want the message window to close and go back to the Inbox. Currently, upon delete, the window opens to the next message from the Inbox.
How do I remove imap.gmail.com from my Windows Live Mail 2011 account? I had configured my windows email with gmail, and I no longer want to do that. I can't seem to find a way to keep gmail from checking my mail through my Windows Live Mail account. I'm afraid if I delete my gmail account I would no longer have access to my Windows Live Mail account. I have gone to settings in gmail and disabled imap. When I did this, I no longer was able to send or receive mail in Windows Live Mail, so I had to go back and enable imap in gmail.
MS and their mail systems are giving me grief. I have a Vista 32 PC using "Windows Mail" and want to transfer email folders (lots) and messages to Windows 7 using Windows Live Mail 2011.Windows Mail was a replacement for Outlook express on Vista.Windows Live Mail 2011 is a replacement for Windows Mail on Windows 7.I tried a couple of things.
1) Basic Export and ImportI exported relavent files: Account info, Contacts and all the messages to a folder (in Windows Mail format) on old computer and used the old "Addias" transfer - copied folder to stick and RAN it over to the new computer. - Imported (using the Windows Mail format) the Account info successfully, - imported the Contact info successfully. - Import Messages - appeared at first to be successful
Issue: Message folders appear to be renamed and some folder names have been truncated, not all folders appear to be there. (Looks like "long Name folders greater that 8 characters get truncated)
2) Tried the "Easy transfer mechanism (Vista and Win7 transfer utility) - but couldn't get the new computer to see the Vista even though I could see them on the network. I thought that this would transfer the folder names correctly.I'm about to try a time consuming effort of coping folder by folder (export/Import)What I am more concerned about is that the individaul messages may have the same issue Ie not all coming accross and subject names being lost. Looking for alternative or third party transfer solutions?
Just got a new laptop and am getting to know Windows 7! I have used outlook express for years and was bummed to find out it no longer existed. I found windows live mail 2011 on my laptop and have imported my csv address book. My problem is creating groups. I am not using hotmail. I use gmail.
I had no problem transferring all of the other data from my old hard drive, but I cannot bring the Windows Live Mail Contacts into my new created account. I am not using a Microsoft email, but the one from my internet provider. I found the contact list on user/my name/app data/local/Microsoft/Windows Live Contacts/Guid/DBStore. I used a program called LiveContactsView, but it only shows the demographic information and no email addresses. Is there a program or another way to retrieve all of my contact list.
I have set up my wife's email account (TWC Roadrunner address) with Live Mail on our new Win 7 32-bit machine. It is receiving mail fine, but will not send. The attempted sent messages do not appear in the sent or outbox folders, but when I close the program I am asked if I want to send the unsent items. When I click on yes I get the following error message.
"An unknown error has occurred."
Server: 'smtp-server.kc.rr.com' Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x80070057 Protocol: SMTP Port: 25 Secure(SSL): No
After I updated to Windows Live Mail 2011, a strange problem occurred. When I send an e-mail, program simply deletes all the spaces I made between the lines by pressing "enter" and the recipient receives my e-mail as one single paragraph. If I make spaces between the lines by pressing "shift+enter" it doesn't do that and everything works normal. I want to give/make spaces between the lines simply by pressing enter as it should be.
I applied a Windows Update the other day without realizing that I was doing a major update from Windows Live Mail to WLM 2011. The installation progress window stopped at about 50% complete and just stayed there. After doing some Googling about the update (KB2434419) I read that behind the progress window is another window which asks the user whether all Windows Live apps are to be installed and updated or just the ones that have already been installed. I had been using only Windows Live Mail, so I chose to update only that application to WLM 2011. The installation appeared to run successfully, and I have been using WLM 2011 for two days. It works fine, although I've had to get familiar with numerous changes to its appearance and user interface.
The Windows Update icon is still at the right end of my taskbar, however, and when I click on it, the progress window is still showing "Installing update 1 of 1" about 50% complete as if it does not realize that the installation of WLM 2011 finished two days ago! The only option in that window is a "Stop installation" button. I am afraid to click that button in case it initiates a rollback of the WLM 2011 installation. Why does Windows Update think that the installation isn't complete? How do I terminate the session of Windows Update and not disturb the WLM 2011 installation that completed two days ago? Do I dare kill the Windows Update process that is running?
Move Live Messenger Icon to the System Tray in Windows 7. If you've made the switch to Windows 7 and use Windows Live Messenger, you might have noticed the icon stays in the new Taskbar. If you are annoyed by this and would rather see it in the System Tray (notification area), just follow this simple process. Show Messenger Icon in Notification Area. When you close out or minimize Messenger it will reside in the new Taskbar. [URL]. To make it act like it did in previous versions of Windows, right-click on the Windows Live Messenger icon and go to Properties.
In the example above I created an icon on the desktop but you can also do the same thing with the icon in the start menu. Then go to the Compatibility tab and run it in Windows Vista compatibility mode. The icon might be hidden in the notification area though. You just need to customize the Notification Area Icons and have it Show icon and notifications. [URL]. Thats it! Now you have your Messenger icon back where it used to be. [URL].
I have just installed windows live mail. I notice that I have storage folders at the bottom. There is all my old emails message stored there. The problem is that they appear in the list after the following folders: drafts, sent items, deleted items. It is really annoying. Each time I store an email I have to go down the bottom of the list. Is there a way to sort the order of these storages folders? I did not manage to copy these folders into the Inbox.
I have issues with my live mail....I am receiving Email no problem, but I cant double click and open the message it just comes up with ' a problem has occured please try again'I have a similar problem when I click on my contacts - nothing shows up? When I try to start a new email message I am unable to choose a recipient? I have even tried putting my own email address in and sending to myself but it comes up saying the recipients are not valid
When I try and connect to my live mail I get a box come up with the words "Windows Live Mail has stopped working". There is a prompt to "Check online for a solution and close the program". When I do this nothing happens. I am running Windows 7 Home Edition 64bit system.
Having trouble with Windiows Live Mail 2011 Quick View "All Inbox" and "All Sent" not displaying any messages. I have 4 email accounts and I used to be able to see each account email in the one All Inbox as well as the account Inbox, now I can not see any emails in All Inbox or All Sent, but there are emails in each of my account Inboxes.
I have tried turning off and on Quick Views, compacting messages, and the five time restart of Windows Live Mail
I have Office 2007 Home & Student Edition.I use Windows Live Mail for my email client.I installed the office product, and created a new Word Document.I click on the Office Button on top, select SEND TO EMAIL.. expecting Windows Live Mail to show up (set as my default mail program.) Instead I get this error: Logon Failed. You Must log on to Microsoft Exchange to Access your address book. Error Code: "unspecified Error".So I figure, Ok, maybe Office 2007 is new (even thought it's 2010 now), and there might be some fixes.I downloaded the SP2 for Office 2007, thinking this must be a common problem.. as my computer is BRAND new.I JUST installed Windows Live Mail on it... and Just installed Office 2007. I haven't had it for more than a few hours.I install the SP2 Patch for OFF2007 fine. I do some searching and find many Microsoft threads which indicate how to "use a Non-MS Email client with Office 2007" - Now wait! Isn't Windows Live Mail an MS product? So then, I find many other forums where they indicate you can click SEND TO EMAIL 3 times and it will work. So... Just to confirm the mind of the hive is alive and well.
I have imported my Outlook Express files into Live Mail (from an XP machine to a laptop running windows 7) using the import function in Live Mail. When I look in the Storage Folders there are no files to view. In the Quick Views I am able to read and see unread emails from Outlook Express but not emails that I have read on my XP machine. To do the import I copied the files from the XP machine to a USB stick and then on the laptop browsed to find the files on the stick. The folder containing the OE files in not read only.
