Using XP I had written a program that opened automatically on certain dates when the computer was first turned on. I have the same program but it doesn't open on Windows 7 on the dates it is program to open. I believe I was able to have the program set to open by enter "RUN" and select programs to be open on start-up. I can't find the same start_up procedure on Win 7.

I have tried to using the Internet Explorer program highlighted but it does nothing. It asks if i want to run or save the exe extension for the program. Tried both and nothing works.
Also tried to restore computer from and earlier date, get an error message that says "System cannot start."

I have a few computers here that all run this program that auto launches through the startup folder. this program is suppose to launch at full screen. However, on a couple of PCs this program launches as full screen but the start menu is given focus and not the program. while other PCs with the same setup, launch the program at full screen without giving focus to the start menu.
Just wondering if there is some option that's been selected on these machines that are giving focus to the start menu instead of the program.
recently my pc has been delaying on opening everything, when i open a program like chrome it takes about 5 minutes or so for it to open then when i try open a new tab, it takes about the same time.when i unlock my pc or when i have to press yes or no to open that program, the sound played for it like 2- 5 minutes later. when i eventually open up a game the audio is fine but when trying to watch a Internet video sometime i dont even hear audio until about 5 minutes after the video has started?

The autostart function is not working properly. When introduced a CD Rom into the drive, it has all the autostart functions for movies, pics, documents, but instead of starting the games directly, It allways ask me to open the file, movies or pics, but the game never starts automatically as It used to do in the past Windows versions, and in Windows 7 BEFORE SP1. When I open some programs like my anti virus software it will not open but the icon pops up in the task bar. When I run the mouse over the icon a small screen comes up over the icon but clicking on it will still not open the program. The little screen just disappears. And then I noticed afterwards that during the boot process, I would get this message:autochk* program not found - skipping AUTOCHECKThe message shows up after the windows logo and before the logon screen.I can still run windows just fine with no problems what-so-ever. The only issue with it, is that it's there. I just want to make the message go away. I can make it not show up by selecting "no GUI boot" in msconfig, but that only masks the issue.

I recently ran into an issue where this installation on Windows 7 Pro 32-bit is trying to open up all my programs in Word, they all have the MS word icon as well, so for instance, when I click on Nero, it will try to open it up in word and we get an error because it is not a word file. This is on all Program .exe files. There are no options to change the file association in the default programs in control panel. I have only seen a few fixes for this which involve the registry, I have checked these, however, all registry keys are correct. System restore fails as well, have tried multiple restore points to no avail. We have also ran norton, and malwarebytes on the system is it runs clean.

When I try to open a project folder in any of the programs I use it takes 2-3 minutes for it to load all the filesThere are just over 10,000 files in the folder, they are all small files (nothing larger than 100k), and on the XP machine it loads in an instant.I have done everything I can find online (turned off indexing, changed the folder prefs, etc) and nothing works. View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought a Asus U36J laptop back in April of last year and ever since then I have been beating around an issue that I dont seem to be able to resolve one way or the other. When ever the laptop is on battery and in battery saving mode it has my taskbar on autohide. If I turn that off, then it stays off right until it is put back into battery saving mode at which point it is "magically" ticked on again.
Is there no way to simply disable that feature, as its annoying me greatly. I know its tied into the battery saving desktop, and I want to keep the battery saving desktop but want a full taskbar all the time. I found a supposed fix to make that happen, and while it actually makes the taskbar appear all the time, it still is a bad hack as any windows I have open wont "attach" to the taskbar but attaches to the buttom of the screen.
So for the love of god is there no sane way for me to keep the battery saving desktop but get rid of the autohiding taskbar. Otherwise I know Asus most likely wont be my laptop of choice next time aroumd.
