When I go to install the update I get an error message saying "program name (x86)...you don't have permission to save in this location contact your administrator to obtain permission. How do I get around this block. I did go into the admin setting nad played around with them but that didn't do anything. This is my computer and this account is the only one on there and it says Richard (me) is the admin so I should be able to put stuff where ever the I want. I have tried to using the Internet Explorer program highlighted but it does nothing. It asks if i want to run or save the exe extension for the program. Tried both and nothing works.
Also tried to restore computer from and earlier date, get an error message that says "System cannot start."
Using XP I had written a program that opened automatically on certain dates when the computer was first turned on. I have the same program but it doesn't open on Windows 7 on the dates it is program to open. I believe I was able to have the program set to open by enter "RUN" and select programs to be open on start-up. I can't find the same start_up procedure on Win 7.

When I open some programs like my anti virus software it will not open but the icon pops up in the task bar. When I run the mouse over the icon a small screen comes up over the icon but clicking on it will still not open the program. The little screen just disappears. View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently ran into an issue where this installation on Windows 7 Pro 32-bit is trying to open up all my programs in Word, they all have the MS word icon as well, so for instance, when I click on Nero, it will try to open it up in word and we get an error because it is not a word file. This is on all Program .exe files. There are no options to change the file association in the default programs in control panel. I have only seen a few fixes for this which involve the registry, I have checked these, however, all registry keys are correct. System restore fails as well, have tried multiple restore points to no avail. We have also ran norton, and malwarebytes on the system is it runs clean.

Installers have worked previously, it's only recently it's stopped working.The error is;Error opening files for writing?
What I've tried;
-Full system scan with Comodo AV.
-Revealed hidden files and folders.
-Run the installer in both compatability (Even though it does work on Windows 7, and as an Administrator).
-Also done the scan on CMD (can't remember exact command).

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.
I keep getting this bex error for explorer.exe, but that is only when I open a certain folder. It contains no special file formats, just mp4 videos, like all other season folder of that series. I recently updated from Vista to Win 7 (both 32-bit Home Premium). It was a simple upgrade, not a new install.
I've noticed with Windows 7 that when I go to do a shutdown, while the desktop is shutting down, it grays the screen and says a program is is not shutting down in a timely matter. I never saw that with Vista. It doesn't appear to tell me WHAT program is the issue. Also, it usually clears itself within a second or two, barely giving me time to check anything.
I've seen various WaitToKillApp and HungApp notes about speeding up shutdown. I'm not all that worried about making it shut down fast, but would like to know how I could find out WHICH program it is. If anything, I'd increase the time before it complains so it shuts down cleanly. I think older Windows would list the name of the program in a standard dialog box, but not this full-screen thing.
PS: I'm mixed on Windows 7. I've had to 'undo' alot of things and rely on 3rd party software like ShellFolderFix to get back 'power user' abilities.
