It seems I can't pin folders to Windows explorer in my taskbar any more. A few weeks ago all the folders that where pinned there disappeared (even the ones that where added automatically) and if I try to add new ones nothing happens. Programs can still be pinned to the taskbar as before. What could be causing this?

( documents.library-ms. etc ] . i deleted them and tried to restore them but it didnt work . when i go to upload a picture to tumblr it works but not if i want to just upload them to my computer and veiw them .when i tried to save an image to the computer it wouldnt let me it said : " can not save to this location "
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an LG N2A2 NAS box with a wired connection into my router. I then have two laptops that are generally connected to the router wirelessly but sometimes via cable, if I am transferring a large amount of data. The main laptop is running Win 7 Pro (64 bit) and the other one is running Vista Business. Until a couple of weeks ago the NAS would show up under computers in Windows Explorer on the Win 7 laptop, and the shared folders could be accessed. At that point I connected the other laptop via cable to the router.
Since then NAS has not been showing under computers in WE on the Win 7 laptop and I haven't been able to access the shared folders. The NAS is still showing as a media device and I can log in via IE - but I cannot get at the files directly or back up to a NAS folder. I have tried entering the device name and IP address in WE but I get the error message "Windows cannot access XYZ...". I ran the troubleshooter but it didn't work. The NAS came with a NAS detector utility and sure enough this detects the NAS but when I click "Open Network Folder" nothing happens. I have tried changing the IP of the NAS but this does not make any difference.

Like my title read, I can't open any folders in my Windows Explorer with a double click. It gives me the error message "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel." This also happens whenever I try to open any drives, such as C: drive. I can however run programs from Windows Explorer, and can right click, then choose open to open folders.
I have already done extensive searching on the subject, tried deleting autorun.ini files, tried some registry fixes, with no luck. I'm obviously running Windows 7, 32-bit, on a HP desktop.
In Windows Explorer, I can't open folders by double clicking then any more. I can still open them by expanding then pointing to collapsed sub folders etc. Double clicking folders within an application also still works.

Often some folders have been splitted in 2 or more folders. One example is that it had been created 2 folders of my "bon jovi"-folder. One of them has the original name "bon jovi" and the new folder has the name "jon bon jovi". Strange behaviour by windows explorer.Or just one file is saved in a folder and a subfolder, which have names based on the files name, often the artist and album. If I download one file, I want it saved in "my music"-folder "bare", not hidden in 1 or 2 folders.Suddenly, after 15 mins or so, a lot of new unwanted folders appeared in "my music" with subfolders and just one mp3-file. The new folders were created just some minutes ago. The numbers of folders in "my music" has increased much.Many of the mp3-files are downloaded from dc++, but the settings in dc++ is correct. Randomly in the past few days Windows 7 explorer/my documents folder/anywhere in my computer locks up and stops responding when I try to use my keyboard. No matter what I try to do, renaming documents, using ctrl-c, pressing shift, using any key on the keyboard, it locks up. View 3 Replies View RelatedI have three computers all running Windows 7 Ultimate x64, one of which functions partly as a media center (hosting music etc), the second and third being my office workstation and laptop respectively. The media center has a hard line to my cable modem (via Trendnet wireless-N router) while the latter two connect via wireless; the workstation via a wireless ethernet hub and the laptop via it's integrated wireless.I currently have all of my media folders shared via homegroup on the media center.
My laptop (Lenovo Thinkpad W500) can access all of the shared folders.My office workstation, while I can "see" the shared libraries/folders on my media center, hangs (the explorer window appears to be perpetually loading) whenever I attempt to open any of the folders. Sometimes when this happens I can kill/restart explorer but ever so often explorer itself will be unable to restart and I will have to reboot the entire machine.I have Windows Security Essentials running on both machines - all three are almost identical with respects to the installed software.I have tried reconfiguring the homegroup multiple times, flushing the dns cache, resetting and cycling the router, and have even swapped out wireless adapters (on the problematic workstation) to no avail.
Is it possible to have vertical auto scroll when viewing folders and files in windows Explorer, ie. click mouse wheel and then move downwards to scroll down and vice versa?Currently my WE does not allow me to select auto scroll vertically.

Here you can see the properties. The one on the left is the default location one which appears in explorer but shouldn't. The one on the right is the real desktop that I moved to her data drive. 2 copies appear for the one on her data drive.

If I enter a folder that has many subfolders and extra files, it seems to load everything at once in alphabetical order, then there's a delay while it sorts the folders and the individual files separately, also in alphabetical order. So i have created some shortcuts to quicklaunch certain folders. Some of them open and i can use the arrow keys to scroll through the items in the folder.
Some of them open with the "Name" column selected, so the arrow keys don't initially scroll through the items in the folder.
I know this is very specific, but there HAS GOT to be a way to define what it opens to by default... especially since some of my folders default to the list of items within the folder.
I have a good sony vaio from 2010 with a win7 home premium, 4 Gb Ram, 500Gb HDD, 50 Gb available currently. I know various System32 files are missing from information from a HijackThis Scan yesturday, eg lsass.exe. Explorer.exe does not handle folders well-double clicking should open any folder but instead it defaults to trying to open it with the first available software in the context menue, which happens to be VLC Media player. This is a known problem, to do with registry damage and/or windows explorer, not to do with VLC. I have been diligent with updating drivers, and am currently using Slimdrivers to identify further improvements to my driver lineup.
I will add a scan results from tweaking com windows repair after this post. Avast interenet security and Malwarebytes are up to date and scan have found nothing lately. MBAB had to be uninstalled and reinstalled today due to some sudden loss of the signatures update file(I think), but is running well again now. I wish to go through a range of tests and find out about some procedure to restore these corrupt system files. I am an advanced home user but have run out of idea with this problem.

Im set as Owner of the folder and i have all permissions set for me however i am still unable to see these files outside of nero and i don't know why.When i go and try to change the permissions on the folders (the locked ones) windows says the files/folders doesn't exist...
