I have a lot of files (songs) which names are of the following type:
xxxx - yyyy
Where x represents the artist's name and y represents the song's name. Now, I need a way to bulk edit these files so that everything left of the hyphen is removed and later on the hyphen itself so that the filenames only consist of the song's name.Is there a way to bulk do this? I have over 660 songs.
In windows 7 , how to search for filenames contain ^ or $ or @ (i don't want to use cmd for example c: >dir *@*.* /s noting that i tried searching for ^ in cmd it was useless like c: >dir *^*.* /s)
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a bunch of documents in a data base, all associated with TIFF images, and all having unique DOCIDs. When I batch-print several of the TIFFs to PDFs, the stupid program, instead of just naming them by their DOCIDs, appends a seven-digit serial number to the DOCID, thus: ABCD0000789 --> ABCD00007891234567.PDF I want to delete those last seven digits before the dot.
I know there are free utilities that make this stuff easy, but I'm at work, where I'm not allowed to install programs; so I have to use native DOS or Windows 7 functions. I'm sure it can be done quickly and easily with the REN command in a DOS window, but I don't know how to identify the last seven digits for REN and tell it to delete them.
Unfortunately, what comes before the last seven digits is variable--it's always some letters followed by some numerals, but the number of each can vary, there might be a hyphen or a space among the letters, and there might be a space between the letters and the numerals; so I can't just tell DOS to delete everything after the first n digits, which I gather would be easier.
In WinXP, using the standard Windows search, I could search for a filename, and if it was found in a Zip file, that would be shown in the search results. In Win 7 (even after changing search options to search ZIP files) it usually does not find the filename in a Zip file. Occasionally it finds it in one Zip file, but I know it is in several and need to see all of them to find the one I want. I have indexed the drive being searched.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI work for a company that makes tablets that have windows 7 professional x32 installed. At times we have to re-image the tablet. The image does not include any windows 7 updates on it and as were kinda low on the totem pole I don't see that being changed any time soon for our convenience. Me and some of the other Techs working in the shop were looking for a way to install all the windows 7 updates at one time without having to monitor it all day long constantly restarting between updates. It can sometimes take a full 8 hour day to get all the updates installed on one tablet because we are not able to monitor them at all times so there is a lot of down time of it waiting to restart.Basically what I am asking is there a way to put all windows 7 updates on a flash drive or a program online that will automate the windows update process with a fresh install of windows 7?

Customer highlights a sequence of consecutive MS Word 2010 files in his C:usersUserNameMy Documents folder (NOT the My Documents library but the actual folder). He right clicks and selects Print in the pop-up menu. Some print, some do not and the order of printing is NOT EXACTLY the order of the files in the folder.On previous customer PCs running Vista and Windows XP the above worked PERFECTLY. However, the customer was running Word 2007 on the Vista PCs.
note this is NOT the Word 2010 error about "xxxx normal.dot" that Google search will quickly show for bulk printing. There is NO error message. Also the normal.dot error prevents all but the first file from printing ; he gets several files to print.Also this is NOT printing from a Window 7 library (which did not exist in earlier OS's). A windows 7 library is ACTUALLY links to files in the actual folders and MAYBE bulk printing would not work for a library BUT this is the actual My Documents folder as defined above (full path name).Also he has only tried this for Word 2010 files BUT that could be because that is all he want to print. The problem could occur with a mix of ANY printable files (ex Word and PDFs); I can not report on whether that is true or not as I only have info from the customer on the phone about this at the moment.
(1) Has any other sevenforums expert seen this problem or can provide a link to a forum where someone else reported this problem.
(2) What is the solution OR is does this feature just not work right in Windows 7. Regarding this last thing, please note the feature has not worked right since he first booted his Windows 7 SP1 PC. It did not work initially and then later fail.

What I want to figure out how to do, it to get all the folders of 2010 that are scattered around my "start" menu, put them all together under a folder named 2010 and then get that folder under Programs. Right now, some are on the desktop and other places.I don't really want to try messing around with it because I have a tendency to screw things up!

I would like to keep my AMD cpu as it seems to meet criteria of the games i play, My graphics card is running smooth and does ok for it's self for the time being, But this will be upgraded to a 6870 in time to come. I would also like to stay on the AMD side of hardware.The problem is i don't know what i should look for in a motherboard. Also the same with ram, with boards i've looked at and ram ranging from 1666mhz the MOBO requires OCing. trying to find these parts as my main concern is Battlefield 3, it ran perfect on high but i just wanna give it the extra boost to ultra.

This worked at one time, before I upgraded to Professional and added service pack 1 (or at least I set up the backup one time). I tried to change the time to run the automatic backup in "Control Panel - System and Security - Backup and Restore". The link inside the window named "change settings" didn't do anything. So I turned off the schedule thinking that might let me change the settings. Now neither the "change settings" nor the "turn on schedule" links do anything. Now I have to do the backups manually. I am a firm believer in backing things up to a network drive every night.I run 4 different automatic malware / spyware scans every night and I am usually clean except for a couple of tracking cookies.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI noticed something was wrong when I could not login on Skype when the input boxes did not show up.I noticed the gadgets, which have been installed since installation a year ago, suddenly were hardly visible and are non-functional. The option button is also missing.The machine is a Toshiba laptop, with all update functions active, ie drivers should all be up-to-date. I'm running Windows 7 64 Home Premium SP1.I tried switching off aero, but that did nothing. Changing resolution and graphics settings also did nothing for me.

After hooking everything up, the computer runs till the windows 7 loading screen, then stalls and restarts. Upon restart I'm brought to the "windows has failed to start" message and attempting to repair through that yields no results. I hooked my old parts back up to make sure the hard drive was still good and it is. With the old parts everything boots normally.

View 5 Replies View RelatedSeveral topics are out there, but I didn't manage to find any solution, so I'll ask againI noticed this because I couldn't connect battlefield bad company 2 to the ea servers (to sign in).now, no need to panic I thought, things like that happen, but it has been going on for a week, so I started to investigate.While trying some EA domains I found that Support Home Page wouldn't load up on my windows 7 64bit (sp1).now this site does load up on my dual-booted linux... as well as on any other pc in my network.
