View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a new HP laptop (dv6-1375dx) with pre-installed W 7 whose touchpad is listed as a "Synaptics Touchpad V6.5 on PS/2 Port".The cursor has a mind of its own and frequently jumps all over the screen when I type without (I think) my touching anything. Is there a way to reduce this annoying jumping of the cursor? I've looked at the Synaptics device properties but am not sure what I need to change.

I have a Windows 7 Professional 32 bit operating system, which is joined to a domain at my workplace. If i open Eindows Explorer and open a network drive ( I: ), then the Windows Explorer open's it, but after a few seconds later, it jumps back to the main page. It is very annoying. I have 11 network drives, but only on two networks drives occurs this problem.
View 4 Replies View RelatedBeen having an annoying problem on various forums - the text cursor will disappear during typingFrequently when I try to move the cursor around with the arrows (or click to place it with the mouse) it will disappear and I have no idea where I'm about to type.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis problem is happening on two different laptops, both Windows 7, so I'm wondering if it's a virus. On many occasions, but not every time, my cursor will jump to another spot in the text and continue typing in the middle of another word. It seems to happen when a word ends in "t".
View 2 Replies View RelatedFor months now I've been fighting that my hardware cursor disappears in World of Warcraft on my home theater system and time I switch modes to full screen and sometimes even in windowed mode and the reason for this is apparently due to me setting my display text size to 150% or 125%. I did find via some searching WoW customer service forums that if I set it back to 100% (default) OR 149% customized, my hardware cursor works again. I'm going to leave it at 149% because I really do need the larger text size on my HDTV and using 149%, I don't have to change back to normal, log out, log in, then start my game.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSince I find it much faster to move the "beam" cursor around with the arrow keys (and CTRL+Arrow key to jump over whole words), I frequently use that instead of the mouse to reposition the cursor, handy if I want to go back a few words and add or change something.
However on many sites, using the arrow keys fails to move the beam, yet the actual input position does change.
For example, I'll press "CRTL+Left Arrow" a few times to jump back three words. On the screen the beam stops flashing but stays put, yet if I start to type the typing starts where the beam should have ended up if it moved properly.
I have a laptop that i often connect to a tv screen. When i am just using the laptop screen i keep the dpi value to its normal default setting, but inceease it when i connect it to the tv so things are easier to read. When i disconnect from the tv and go back to the laptop screen everything is too big bevause of the increased dpi,i set it back to its default settings. However when i do this everything is rediculously small and sometimes impossible to read. Even setting a larger dpi from this point creates text that is too small. I cant go higher from this point because it also makes my windows too big. Does anyone know how i can get back my normal text size with a default setting of 100% dpi?
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is not a problem occurring in any browser or in the BIOS or during the boot screens. It doesn't seem to affect any normal windows software (by which I mean microsoft products included with Win7.) I notice it primarily in things like Malwarebyte's, Spybot S&D, Alcohol 120%, and a few others. I'm hoping it's a font issue or something but I can't seem to get any reasonable search results anywhere. The problem is the text displayed by the above programs is often covered in random dots; sometimes just one or two and sometimes enough to obscure whole words. They change if you highlight a word and they move as the text changes (as it does during a scan.) I saw a mention about dots and a crappy set-up video card with no external power; just the PCI-e slot power. I have a Sapphire HD4670 1GB card that I am disappointed with anyway. I used to run an older nVidia 8600GT... other specs Gigabyte 785G series board with a Phenom II x 2 550 BE, 12GB DDR3 1333mhz RAM, Win 7 Pro x64 with SP1 (problem existed with 4GB RAM and pre-SP1)
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe issue is that my screen will go dim after switching users or switching users and switching back, its not a set pastern and doesn't happen every time. so i havnt been able to reproduce the issue, however i have had it happen to more then one of my computers and on more then one installation of windows 7 (and windows 2008R2 in one instance).uling out basicly any hardware issue is that my cursor always remains bright and sometimes switching/logout/login will resolve the issue on one account or the other account (no patern)Decreasing the chances of a driver issue is that i have had this problem on 2 systems with different brand graphics over the course of 2 and 3 windows installations respectively all with multiple driver updates and re installations.
Ruling out a connection to UAC is that i have UAC totaly disabled on both machines Heres the rub, i might be doing this to myself... but i cant just except that.instead of having my screen lock after a certain time frame, i use a special screen saver that 'runs a program'. the program ive chosen is "tsdiscon.exe", the executable used to invoke a 'switch user'.when theses 2 computers are left unattended i need the next user to see the user selection screen, ive had too many issues with people not knowing to hit the "switch user" button on the lock screen.ive found all sorts of people having this issue (dim screen bright cursor), but many seem to be dead ends or fixes that only fix the symptoms like the one show here display - Why does my screen dim on a desktop installation of Windows 7? - Super UserIn that case someone suggested forcing the graphics card to use its own color/brightness profile instead of the systems, i tried this and it does seem to work but i want to know why the system profile is screwed up.
ASUS laptop, Windows 7 Home Edition, Firefox browser. Every so often, when I'm typing text in a Comment box on a web site, when I pause to think and start typing again, the cursor jumps backwards through the text - often a few/several lines, within the earlier line of text, and I'm suddenly typing within a word. For example, I might start this sentence, and suddenly be typing 'For' within the word 'box' in the second line of text above. It's been going on since I've had this laptop and it's annoying, but I've never been able to figure out what was causing it. I've even tried banging random keys and the touchepad to try to replicate it, but it only happens when I don't want it to. I know there are keyboard controls that move the cursor to the beginning of the line, etc, but this is different - the cursor goes backwards in what seems like a random manner.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a new Sony Vaio laptop and got on great with it until I noticed an aggravating problem.
Whenever I was typing some text, the cursor had an annoying habit of jumping all over the place, so I'd find myself typing text in the middle of a sentence I'd completed earlier.
It turns out that if you use a mouse without disabling the touchpad, the two conflict with each other, which results in this erratic cursor behaviour.
Why use a mouse you may ask. Well, I suffer with arthritis from time to time and a wireless mouse is easier to use than the touchpad.
So, if anyone has a Sony Vaio and is experiencing the same problem just go to:
Start>All Programs>Vaio Control Center>Categories Tab>Expand Keyboard & Mouse>Double-click Built-in Pointing Device>Uncheck Enable box>Apply>OK>Yes.
This disables the touchpad and stops the erratic cursor movement.
Ok this is wierd I have a client using Office 2007 pro and some of her docs that she recently updated and the problem is when she prints the docs text that she deleted is printing over the top of new text she inserted into the doc.
Now when you have said doc open in WORD the deleted text is not there in any view and does NOT show in "print preview".
I opened said doc with WORDPAD and the deleted text shows up at the bottom so its still in the word doc somewhere imbedded so it prints over the top of the actual text in the doc.
i had last year Icons sizes change back to details sizes on specific folder
may also be relate to the issue that this user had Shortcut icons re-sizing randomly My OS had gone crazy and change icon's sizes back to details sizes in random folders, last time i had that issue i thought it was solved by this method Icons sizes change back to details sizes on specific folder
But unfortunately it only was temporary, i had to format anyway so the problem was solved after the format and never appeared again till 3 days ago.
it not seem to be a virus but it really annoy, the only thing i done 3 days ago that was extraordinary for me was to edit some video on windows live movie maker + cccp codecs, i rarely use WLMM but happened to use it 3 days ago, and after that the issue reappear, i can't use system restore since i done alot of stuff on my pc and don't want to lose them, and also i don't happened to made restore point before the day the issue occurred and the rest are deleted..so SR is not a option.
I have a project where I need to search a large amount of text files on my home PC. I recently upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7. My research indicated this feature was available in Windows 7.
If you do a search in Windows XP, you get a bunch of fields. You can pick to search for text INSIDE the particular sub folder structure.
I have found this feature in Windows 7, but it is different. I have tried using wild cards but it does not seem to work properly.
How do I insert my pictures inside the text or beside the text so it won't use so much space?

Do I need to reinstall the USB drivers for my motherboard?

View 16 Replies View RelatedAll of the sudden, when I want to copy and paste something in the same document, the formatted text (whether that be a certain font or bold) does not transfer over to the pasted text. For instance, if I wanted to copy the following bolded word word and then paste it anywhere else in the document, I now get this: word (without the bold). This applies to other cutting and pasting problems: this applies to other fonts and formatting (bold, my Greek font, etc). One more example: before today, if I wanted to cut a text out of my New Testament Greek program right in the middle of a paragraph, the Greek font (or whatever font) would paste normally no matter what font the target MS Word text was in.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just installed a new version of Microsoft Office 2010 and had 2007 before.I installed it in addition to keeping the 2007, which is fine. What I want to figure out how to do, it to get all the folders of 2010 that are scattered around my "start" menu, put them all together under a folder named 2010 and then get that folder under Programs. Right now, some are on the desktop and other places.I don't really want to try messing around with it because I have a tendency to screw things up!
