I've been having problems with my computer freezing randomly. It generally for about 5 seconds or so, usually when browsing using Firefox. Also, the mouse cursor doesn't change when highlighting a link or highlighting text, it sometimes turns yellow so I can't see it.
View 2 RepliesWhenever I click on a object (a file, hyper link, for example), or if I highlight text, when I left go of the left mouse button, it doesn't let go. So if I move my mouse around, it will continue to highlight wherever my mouse goes until I left click again. This never happened until a few months ago on any Windows computer I ever used that I can recall.
This was originally happening on a Windows 7 Home Premium computer, and then I switched to a Windows 7 Professional computer last week and I experienced the same problem. I thought it would be my mouse, so this weekend I bought a brand new mouse, but the problem continues to occur.

When I start up my desktop and click on an application (or anything else) it will open, however the icons on the taskbar do not highlight. Consequently, whenever I want to access the app, I have to use winkey+tab. It's not serious, but very annoying. Honestly, it's lead me to use my laptop more than my desktop.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSince I find it much faster to move the "beam" cursor around with the arrow keys (and CTRL+Arrow key to jump over whole words), I frequently use that instead of the mouse to reposition the cursor, handy if I want to go back a few words and add or change something.
However on many sites, using the arrow keys fails to move the beam, yet the actual input position does change.
For example, I'll press "CRTL+Left Arrow" a few times to jump back three words. On the screen the beam stops flashing but stays put, yet if I start to type the typing starts where the beam should have ended up if it moved properly.
will the repair install fix system links that do not worK? cursor choices show up in Cursors file in Windows. Problem is after installing windows 7 Professional the link to the mouse pointers does not work and if you go to mouse properties they are not there just the mouse driver details. Any ideas on how to fix this?
I did the RC of windows 7 to see if I would like it...the mouse options was not available in the RC thought it would get fixed in final release. As instructed when received my upgrade after final release went back to Vista home premium, upgraded to 7 home premium (had to buy it, had ordered and recieved 7 pro) then upgraded to the 7 pro. still no mouse pointer options to change the pointer.
The pointers are in the Cursors folder in Window, but when I click on 'Change Mouse pointers' nothing happens. In the control panel when I click on the mouse icon nothing happens. I am using a usb mouse on my laptop but this feature does not work with the touchpad either. Worked just fine in vista, any suggestions
I have windows 7 and this is very annoying to have the appearance of the cursor change- then randomly goes back to normal. It takes anywhere from a few seconds to several minutes to change back.

Then it immediately reverts back to the default Windows 7 Aero cursor. When I go back in the cursors settings it has my settings listed but I have to hit "Ok" and then it's fine again.

View 2 Replies View RelatedFor months now I've been fighting that my hardware cursor disappears in World of Warcraft on my home theater system and time I switch modes to full screen and sometimes even in windowed mode and the reason for this is apparently due to me setting my display text size to 150% or 125%. I did find via some searching WoW customer service forums that if I set it back to 100% (default) OR 149% customized, my hardware cursor works again. I'm going to leave it at 149% because I really do need the larger text size on my HDTV and using 149%, I don't have to change back to normal, log out, log in, then start my game.

This is really irritating if I am already where I want to be since I have to be careful where I park the pointer. How can I disable this function? Dannyboy42 asked the same question, and Frank4d suggested that he "go to Control Panel > Ease of Access Center > Make the mouse easer to use. Uncheck the box next to Activate a window by hovering over it with the mouse". Unfortunately, that did not solve dannyboy42's problem, nor does it work for me - that box is already unchecked. Has anyone else figured this out, or is everyone OK with it, and I should just learn to live with this "enhancement"?

For RAW shots, in order to manipulate the photo, it has to be converted. No problem before. Now, there is no link to do the conversion under Edit, which is where it was and where I found info on line where it should be.

I have windows firewall on, but haven't really made any other changes.My cursor flashes the busy symbol about once every 4-5 seconds, and it does so whenever the mouse is on the desktop or anywhere it shows the regular icon. When inside this text window it changes to the text cursor and ceases to flash, however. I changed the icon only to have the new one act the same.
View 28 Replies View RelatedFor a little while I have had a problem with my mouse cursor sticking inside of windows and even icons on the taskbar. It shakes back and forth and won't allow me to move past the icon or window it's stuck in.This begins happening at random while I am doing "whatever". I haven't been able to isolate it as occurring when I am doing a certain task. I have already tried the following. (which everybody keeps telling me over and over)
1. Closing each program 1 by 1 to see if it stops.
2. Using a different mouse - Both do the same thing.
3. Rebooting - Real fun trying to save my work 20 minutes into being booted up when I can't even move from window to window properly.
4. Getting the newest mouse drivers.
5. Making sure that my graphics tablet pen isn't laying too near the tablet.
6. Throwing things.
My mouse cursor stopped moving and I removed the stick because it seemed to be interfering with the USB.The next day, I was playing a game and the keys were malfunctioning and typing more than one letter each or the wrong letter altogether. I tried another keyboard and got similar, yet different errors. One keyboard types hn instead of n. The other won't type certain letters at all, like d or g. I couldn't even log into windows without using the cursor keypad to log in. The language settings are OK. I re-installed the drivers for keyboard and mouse. No dice. Sometimes the mistakes would change. H works now, but was zh a minute ago. I finally did a system repair and afterwards, I could log into windows again. I then typed every letter of the alphabet into Google and there were no problems, but 10 seconds later, the problem is back. Does this sound like a keyboard controller problem?I could type my password when running system repair, so the keyboard works in the boot area. Just not anywhere from windows log on or further.

my mouse cursor (the triangle thing) freezes for 1-2 seconds at completly random times now , what determined me to not buy another one is this after the freeze ends the Computer makes a sound like....like when you extract a .rar file and its done , that sound , and now i know its a virus or a malware , i just need to find it anti virus cant detect it...!
View 6 Replies View RelatedThe mouse/cursor suddenly STOPPED. The computer was rebooted and the same thing occurs. I plugged in a wireless mouse that has been used before, but NOTHING. The cursor/mouse will not move.
I even reinstalled windows but have hte same problem.
I upgraded to Win-7 64 bit and now my mouse cursor blinks with the busy icon about every 6 seconds. I also see the processor is running at a constant 4% to 6%.
When I had Vista the solution was to disable the HD Audio device and it solved the problem. Now this isn't working at all.
I also installed a new video card: ATI Radeon HD 5770.
In both IE Opera and yahoo messenger if the cursor touches either side or top/bottom of screen window is immediately minimized I went to Microsoft.com to reload drivers and software for my Microsoft 6000 wireless and there has been an update and it is now the Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center which is installed on my computer

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhile I'm typing text into any program (email, Word, etc), the cursor will auto-move to wherever the mouse pointer would be (sort of like the setting is on that does auto-select/click when it sits on something). I then end up typing into a completely different part of the message/document and it's SO frustrating. There's no rhyme or reason to when it occurs, at least not that I can figure out.

I have an odd issue, that from my knowledge has only started recently. That is that my left mouse button lags quite a bit. This is most notable when i drag windows, as it would randomly select another window under the one i was dragging. Recently, it hasnt been clicking properly, i would have to hold the button down for a shot while (only a very shot moment, but it is very annoying and noticable) for it to click. I have an A4 Tech x7 lasermouse that has been working perfectly for years, it is only in the last few days that this problem has been occuring. I have ran virus scans and checked mouse settings in control panel without success.

Edit: It seems using an external display (while using laptop) is part of the problem. Switching MC to windowed mode enables me to see the mouse. So just can't use full screen mode and see the mouse cursor. Weird.

Didn't had time to look in to it, hope you guys can save me some time.
I used the Acronis 2010 System Cleanup for the first time. My windows 7 stopped responding, and I had to do hard reset.
After reset windows boots as far as black screen with mouse cursor.
I can move the mouse and Caps Lock respond, but that about it.
Same in safe mode.
Had no luck with Sys Restore, Boot recovery, Chkdsk didn't find any problems.
Ram Fine, swapped dims, memtest pass.
Didn't had time to do more.
System Info:-
Windows 7 x64 Enterprise.
UD5, I7 920, 12GB RAM, 260gtx
x2 750 in Raid 0
x4 1TB blacks in Raid 5
I have 4 days old system image, but I like to know what went wrong.
I have a wireless mouse and it freezes up once in awhile. If I shut it off and turn it back on it works for a while
