Been having an annoying problem on various forums - the text cursor will disappear during typingFrequently when I try to move the cursor around with the arrows (or click to place it with the mouse) it will disappear and I have no idea where I'm about to type.
View 2 RepliesFor months now I've been fighting that my hardware cursor disappears in World of Warcraft on my home theater system and time I switch modes to full screen and sometimes even in windowed mode and the reason for this is apparently due to me setting my display text size to 150% or 125%. I did find via some searching WoW customer service forums that if I set it back to 100% (default) OR 149% customized, my hardware cursor works again. I'm going to leave it at 149% because I really do need the larger text size on my HDTV and using 149%, I don't have to change back to normal, log out, log in, then start my game.

On many occasions, but not every time, my cursor will jump to another spot in the text and continue typing in the middle of another word. It seems to happen when a word ends in "t".
View 2 Replies View RelatedSince I find it much faster to move the "beam" cursor around with the arrow keys (and CTRL+Arrow key to jump over whole words), I frequently use that instead of the mouse to reposition the cursor, handy if I want to go back a few words and add or change something.
However on many sites, using the arrow keys fails to move the beam, yet the actual input position does change.
For example, I'll press "CRTL+Left Arrow" a few times to jump back three words. On the screen the beam stops flashing but stays put, yet if I start to type the typing starts where the beam should have ended up if it moved properly.
I've been having problems with my computer freezing randomly. It generally for about 5 seconds or so, usually when browsing using Firefox. Also, the mouse cursor doesn't change when highlighting a link or highlighting text, it sometimes turns yellow so I can't see it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedOk this is wierd I have a client using Office 2007 pro and some of her docs that she recently updated and the problem is when she prints the docs text that she deleted is printing over the top of new text she inserted into the doc.
Now when you have said doc open in WORD the deleted text is not there in any view and does NOT show in "print preview".
I opened said doc with WORDPAD and the deleted text shows up at the bottom so its still in the word doc somewhere imbedded so it prints over the top of the actual text in the doc.
I have a project where I need to search a large amount of text files on my home PC. I recently upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7. My research indicated this feature was available in Windows 7.
If you do a search in Windows XP, you get a bunch of fields. You can pick to search for text INSIDE the particular sub folder structure.
I have found this feature in Windows 7, but it is different. I have tried using wild cards but it does not seem to work properly.
How do I insert my pictures inside the text or beside the text so it won't use so much space?

View 1 Replies View RelatedAll of the sudden, when I want to copy and paste something in the same document, the formatted text (whether that be a certain font or bold) does not transfer over to the pasted text. For instance, if I wanted to copy the following bolded word word and then paste it anywhere else in the document, I now get this: word (without the bold). This applies to other cutting and pasting problems: this applies to other fonts and formatting (bold, my Greek font, etc).One more example: before today, if I wanted to cut a text out of my New Testament Greek program right in the middle of a paragraph, the Greek font (or whatever font) would paste normally no matter what font the target MS Word text was in.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently bought an Asus U50F notebook. Pretty good so far. But for the past few days, the DVD/CD-ROM E: drive disappears from My Computer. I go to Device Manager and it shows as disabled (Code 22). I proceed to enable it, and it then shows under My Computer again (and works well). But a little while later, it happens again, and I must return to Device Mgr to enable it. This is a continuous issue. I get no help from googling. The drive is a Matshita DVD-RAM UJ892AS. I have Win7 Home Premium.

I would like to know how to oversome this problem, so that the printers do not disappear once I have shut down my pc and restart the next day
Occasionally, when on a web page with pictures/video/flash, the screen will "freeze" and have some random colored pixels appear or sometimes it will just go black. Sometimes when this happens the whole system will remain locked. Other times it will recover and I will get a notification balloon saying the the graphics driver has stopped and recovered from an error. I've looked for answers to this on the web and I have seen reference to it being caused by a Windows timeout waiting for a response from the video card. Is there a way to modify (extend) the timeout value to try to prevent this? I have the latest drivers. In my case the graphics card is NVidea Quadro FX 1800M on a Dell Precision M4500 notebook (8G RAM). OS: Win 7 Enterprise 64-bit.
View 5 Replies View RelatedFor the most part Windows 7 has been running ok so far on my computer. The only issue that has me puzzled is my Realtek RTL8168C(P)8111C(P) Family PCI-E GBE NIC (onboard) just disappears after a reboot or a shutdown. I have to power the system totally down just to get it back.
I have updated to the lastest driver ( 1/20/2009 from Realtek.) Windows update tells me I have the latest driver installed. I also have tried disabling the power managemant and the driver still "disappeared" in Device Manager. I have IPV6 disabled as well.
Since my computer is fairly new and Vista Ready.. I thought I would try the driver that came on the motherboard install CD and same result. I am using a linksys USB wireless adapter and suprisingly it has proven to be more stable then my onboard Realtek. Not a major issue just a puzzle I would like to solve.
I have a new HP G60-530US laptop with Windows 7 installed (less than 2 months old). It is connected to an HP 7410 All-in-One Printer and a Brother laser printer.
Three times now, the HP 7410 printer has mysteriously disappeared from the installed printers. The Brother printer does not disappear.
To re-install the HP 7410 printer requires disabling the AVS using the Services utility (not just shutting down the AVS (Panda)).
The printer driver works for a week or so, and then must be re-installed.
HP is clueless about the cause or cure for this.
The laptop people referred me to the printer support people and the printer support people referred me to the laptop support people. The last tech support guy suggested that I restore the system on the theory that if the problem persisted it would be a hardware problem and not a software problem. He seemed to miss the fact that the disappearing printer driver software only occured with HP printers.
HP technical support was worthless.
Does anyone have any suggestions to fix this?
Some internet forums suggest that this occurs when HP machines are connected to different networks. I noticed my problem occur after I took the laptop on a business trip and connected to a different wireless network.
In my experience, HP All-in-One printer software (e.g. the "Solution Center") is buggy and a resource hog, so I suspect that HP has not debugged their software to work with Windows 7.
I was transferring several 3GB files from one computer to another over a wired network. On one file, about 80% through, a message box came up saying there was a problem with the transfer. Two options: "Try Again" and "Cancel". Hit "Try Again", the progress bar finishes, and the file disappears from both computers. Search of entire hard drives finds nothing. What happened and why? Recovery software will probably not help me because both disks have been written to since the error.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Sony VAIO laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit with a single 500 GB hard drive. A year ago, when the computer was new, I used a free partition manager program (Partition Wizard maybe?) to allocate about 60 GB for drive C: which holds Windows 7 and all of my software apps. I allocated the rest of the free space to D: for all of my data files. Sony also has a 13GB recovery partition and a 100 MB System Reserved partition which preceed C: and D: on the hard drive.
Three days ago, when I booted the computer for the day, drive D: was gone. Disk Management showed free, unallocated space equal to the size of my missing drive D:. Using Sony live chat support, the technician used Disk Management to allocate the 400 GB of free space to D: and formatted the partition. I then restored my missing data from a backup.The next day I booted my computer and drive D: was gone again. Disk Management again shows free, unallocated space equal to the size of my missing drive D:.
I have no third-party disk management software installed. Recent changes to my system include:
1) SmartSync Software recently downloaded a new version of SmartSync Pro (version 4.0) to my hard drive.
2) I ran Disk Cleanup on drive C:
When i go to open a new windoiw and i already have one open it seems to disappear within seconds such like the conformation email i got for this forum with i click on the link a window went to open but flashed and disappered i couldn't even use the spell check on this because the window disapeared I'm running Windows XP and this just started today .
View 2 Replies View RelatedJust got Win 7 64 bit computer and have several programs that use Amyuni PDF converter (Quicken & Alpha Software), everything installed correctly (I did have to manualy add NUL: port) and I was able to create PDF's .... until I restarted the computer, then none of the programs would create PDF's, I looked at the ports and the NUL: port was gone, I added again and everything worked, I restarted again and the NUL: port was gone again. I have looked at every thredd on this forum I could find and many threads on Quicken forums and Alpha Software Forums and found many others with same problem, and tried every solution they proposed, but have not found anything that works.
View 2 Replies View RelatedDell 755 dual core 1.8, 3 gig ram. I installed Window 7 on the machine, updated the drivers for sound ect. The problems is the CD drive, it can see it read what�s on the disk, when you try to open it, it disappears completely off the machine, it goes out of devise manager, reboot it comes back. If i try to play a music CD it loads the WMP and tries to play you can see it playing, the track bar moves but no sound comes. If I play the in-build music or play the video it plays and I hear the music. I've changed the drive letter as someone suggested still the same. At one point I had my 3g modem in that show up as the CD drive. It must a conflict somewhere, where I dont know. Set it to both 32 & 64 bit configurations its the same on both

It never used to, this problem only started over the last few days.
I have a Roccat Kone mouse and I know that Windows 7 doesn't like it. I've had to download a fresh driver for each of the many builds I've installed over the last 6 months i.e. it won't install a stored driver.
Anyway. I can't think why this should have suddenly started. I've not installed anything new.
It makes Media Center virtually impossible to use for watching TV, using the guide etc.
I have problem with my Asus N75SF laptop.Sometimes my sound dissapears and it comes back after a while or when i restart my laptop.So the problem occurs when i turn on my laptop there is no sound and after 5 min or so it comes back or i need to restart.Is it possible to have problem with my sound driver? I have Realtek High Definition Audio.I check the driver in device manager and try to update but it says that my driver is up to date.
View 7 Replies View RelatedW7, 64bit, current with updates. I have tried 3 new All-in-One printers and can get none to work via usb, local port. Canon MP495, Epson NX330, and HP F4140 (tried 1 at a time). The F4140 I gave up on due to the "fatal error", but may be related. I have an HP laser printer that does print via USB with a basic driver. When I click to print a test print the document appears in the printer queue for a couple minutes than disappears.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a new computer:old was 5 year old gateway with xp - ran good just old New is acer with win 7 x64 home premium.I was using my Seagate Freeagent desktop 1 tb as a networked drive - connected through the laptop and sharing folders to be able to watch movies on an older desktop hooked up to the tv.So now I have the network going with the new pc and everything is great. I turn off the acer for the night, come back in the morning, and the freeagent is gone - its connected but windows does not see it. I check device manger, and nothing, So I pull out the usb cable, replug it in and it shows back up on My Computer and the device manager.This is the issue every time i turn the computer off. Now I dont want to have to unplug it every time i turn the computer back on. I tried a few other usb thumb drives - none have this issue only the hard drive. I would reformat it but it is close to full - but has more data on it then i can put on the computer to save from a reformat.

I've tried Control A to Copy Text Control C to Copy All & Control V to Paste & the Border disappears. The recipient is requesting a Word Document as opposed to putting it in Notepad.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am using Windows 7 build 6956 on a laptop with t3200 2.ghz cpu and intel 4500 gma with 4gigs of ram.Now my problem is that on random cases the desktop would go black more specifically the wallpaper disappears. The taskbar is there working OK, when I click the show desktop button on the taskbar the wallpaper re-appears. When I browse the windows by hovering over the windows all seems fine but when I click on the window the wallpaper disappear again. So far it can be resolved by a simple login/logout but still annoying. The only instances I remember this happening was when I was trying out the slideshow and after playing dota (GARENA).
View 9 Replies View Relatedfrequently my navigation pane at the bottom of my desktop disappears. it usually happens when i leave the laptop running. i can't seem to go to system restore since it only lets me go back to the previous day. this has been going on for over a week and i do not know how to resolve the issue. i have searched the internet to find solutions but have not been able to do so. to resolve the problem i have to bring up the task manger and end explorer. then i have to run explorer again for the navigation bar/pane to appear.

But my start button is still there.To bring it back I usually have to log off, but it's annoying.Here's a screenshot.
View 3 Replies View Relatedthe flag disappears particularly if explorer restarts .i have it set to show icons and notifications ,the funny thing is it does the same on the laptop(currently using desktop)occasionally i can get it back by opening Godmode folder but this is a nuisance and not always successful. on the laptop last night i performed a system restore to a point when it was ok ,it didnt work also ran sfc/scannow ,the flag came back but on reboot it was gone again.
