Laptop Freezing For 5-30 Seconds Constantly?
Jan 24, 2013A few day's ago I started encountering freezing issues when on google chrome and skype. They'd usually last for about 5-30 seconds as the title suggests when it happens I can still move the mouse but during the longer freezes the mouse will go unresponsive. So far I've only encountered one freeze that has forced me to hold down the power button to turn off the laptop. The processes i've done so far to fix this s are an Advanced System care full scan, ccleaner, defraggler , disk doctor (part of advanced system care ) clean result, Ive also done a boot time self test by pressing F10 at start (sorry im not sure exactly what this is ) the memory test came clean, and the HDD self test failed the first time i did it on test 2 (comprehensive) saying Error: read memory. I re-did it yesterday and it passed all 3 tests.The freezes usually occur when I click on an application and it takes an abnormal amount of time to load and then it freezes.

Feb 6, 2012I'm using a decent Lenovo B560 laptop, and when playing games or running programs linked to the hard drive disk, it freezes intermittently.
Not sure what's causing it, but the whirring of the disk drive can be heard for about 3 seconds, at which point it slows down, and then the game freezes until the hard drive starts whirring again. It doesn't seem to be able to keep itself running in order to keep playback fluid; it just keeps spinning long enough to power 3-4 seconds of playback.
System is 7 64 bit, with Intel Core i5 CPU M480 @
2.67GHz
3GB RAM
Sony Vaio Laptop Cursor Random Movement Workaround
Aug 23, 2011I recently bought a new Sony Vaio laptop and got on great with it until I noticed an aggravating problem.
Whenever I was typing some text, the cursor had an annoying habit of jumping all over the place, so I'd find myself typing text in the middle of a sentence I'd completed earlier.
It turns out that if you use a mouse without disabling the touchpad, the two conflict with each other, which results in this erratic cursor behaviour.
Why use a mouse you may ask. Well, I suffer with arthritis from time to time and a wireless mouse is easier to use than the touchpad.
So, if anyone has a Sony Vaio and is experiencing the same problem just go to:
Start>All Programs>Vaio Control Center>Categories Tab>Expand Keyboard & Mouse>Double-click Built-in Pointing Device>Uncheck Enable box>Apply>OK>Yes.
This disables the touchpad and stops the erratic cursor movement.

The problem I'm getting is that constantly now the laptop losing its internet connection (goes to limited connectivity) or cannot connect then when i try troubleshooting/diagnosing/open the network center as soon as i run the troubleshooting etc the laptop freezes then the only way it will work again is to turn it off and back on, I would then get an internet connection again, sometimes for half an hour but often no more than five minutes.
I'm pretty sure the wireless Internet is not the issue as the fault occurs exactly the same at
- My house
- Girlfriends house
- and has also happened when using a friends wireless at his place
So the same internet connection fault occurs at three separate connections which leads me to believe its the laptop playing up.
Newly Built Computer Random Freezing And Freezing On Starting Windows 7
Aug 17, 2012I recently built my first PC three days ago...
Specs:
i7 bloomfield 960 processor
4x4 vengeance ram
crosair hx850 PSU
evga x58 ftw3 mobo
hd 6870 radeon graphics xfx
When I first installed windows it started to work just fine but I soon noticed that it would randomly freeze every 15-30 minutes of use, but not on a particular program or anything. I assumed it was drivers so I installed the latest drivers for my GPU and MOBO and keyboard. It seemed fine again until it started crashing again. I ran a GPU burn test and a CPU burn test it passed both. (I tried runing memtest86+ but it froze at like 12%) Then I tried fixing the registry so I downloaded ccleaner and fixed the registry problems. Freezes continued. I finally decided to re install windows so I did and the problems still continued. I am at a loss of what to do and can't think of anything else.

Dec 16, 2012For the past couple of days my computer has been freezing every time I open a new program or go to click on something. Using itunes is especially problematic because i will be listening to music and every thirty seconds the music will stop and continue, etc. I use Avast! free for protection and I have done every scan without them finding a virus, however they do get a couple of files they cannot scan and each time they are different files. When it does that, my keyboard will also go dead, and nothing seems to revive it (holding down Ctrl+Alt+Del does nothing; nor does the Esc button). The thing is, though, activity still remains on screen. It's not like that part of it freezes up. For example, I've had it happen to me when I was on Twitter, and yet new tweets came in. Dec 26, 2012My computer has started freezing up with the cursor hanging constantly as the blue rotating circle as if something is loading. I can't access any programs or bring up the task manager but I can move the mouse. It started out happening infrequently when I would first start the computer. It would boot up normally but when I tried to start a program it would freeze and the only thing I could do was power off and restart.
Now it happens every time I start the computer unless in safe mode, which works with no issue. Usually within the first 5 minutes after booting up the computer freezes. I have been able to open some programs or games in full screen and play normally but I am unable to alt+tab out of the game. When I exit to the desktop, everything is locked up as if the freeze has already occurred in the background.

Every so often, when I'm typing text in a Comment box on a web site, when I pause to think and start typing again, the cursor jumps backwards through the text - often a few/several lines, within the earlier line of text, and I'm suddenly typing within a word. For example, I might start this sentence, and suddenly be typing 'For' within the word 'box' in the second line of text above. It's been going on since I've had this laptop and it's annoying, but I've never been able to figure out what was causing it. I've even tried banging random keys and the touchepad to try to replicate it, but it only happens when I don't want it to. I know there are keyboard controls that move the cursor to the beginning of the line, etc, but this is different - the cursor goes backwards in what seems like a random manner.

Jul 18, 2012Having a bit of a nightmare troubleshooting a problem with my Acer Aspire Desktop.Sometimes it freezes after start up. maybe about 2 mins after logging in. Yesterday it freezed at the bios screen where I can choose safe mode, safe mode with networking etc.Sometimes the monitor has a 'no signal' message on it and I have to reboot to get it back working.I am running out of ideas of how to fix the problem, as sometimes it does not crash at all and I have absolutely no problems I have run windows ram diagnostic I have downloaded and run a cpu test with a diagnostic from Intel's website.I have done a hard drive test, I did a scannow for to check if there were any problems with system files I ran Ccleaner,I did a full scan with kaspersky and malwarebytes. Malwarebytes did show up 3 malware I downloaded combofix and turned off everything and did a scan with that. I ran Microsoft fix it - and that said my recycle bin was corrupt so it fixed it. I made sure all my drivers were up to date and I ran a windows update. I have a lot of errors with event viewer but have absolutely no idea to do use it. Sometimes the computer works no problem. Had no problems Monday. But yesterday it froze straight away after turning it on, and again at the safe mode, safe mode networking and last known good configuration screen. I started it is safe mode Then I started it normally and it worked fine again.

Aug 21, 2010what ram I use, Windows 7 will freeze during install at random points (Mostly during expanding windows files, however, also occurred before even selecting a partition to install on). When I say freeze, i mean the mouse is not able to be moved, and waiting 15+min does nothing.There is NO trouble installing windows XP, but it runs a little "off" (refusing to install chrome, refusing to keep certain programs up, etc).What have I attempted to fix this?
-Swap ram (three times between pny/ocz/g skill, all memtest'd fine).
-Remove all non-required hardware.
-Installing from 2 different CD's, one manuf, one burnt, and from a USB. (not including the 2 64 bit CD's im no longer bothering with).
-Swapping settings in bios on the ram (More volt, more leeway time, etc).
-Setting IDE to RAID and the other setting.
-Swapping video cards.
-Updating the MB bios to most recent
-Threating newegg employees.
[code] Now I really do like the motherboard, but that is the only thing I have yet to swap out, and I need this fixed ASAP. There are other posts about this, but none of those resolutions helped me. Does anyone have any idea what can be done to resolve this? Ive been hacking away at it non stop for 4 days now (going on 5).

Jan 13, 2013Now the unusual part is the manner in which it freezes, any audio sounds in the game will simply not load over, nor will any graphics that havent already been loaded up prior to where the freezing is about to occur, then about 10 or 15 seconds later it will just hard freeze, causing me to reboot. Another interesting thing i should add is i was still able to talk to a friend over Skype for a bit after it froze. My GFX Card is not over heating as i keep track of it regularly with CPUID Hardware Monitor. There is nothing in my event viewer to pinpoint if its a software related issue or not.
I should mention that my PC is a Dell. I have had a problem like this about 3 months ago and they sent me a new motherboard, which seems to have solved the problem for awhile, however the issue started to reoccur again. My theory is that this motherboard is starting to fail as well, or i need to replace the Graphics Card. Is there any other way that the cause could be pinpointed for sure?
My video card is a Radeon HD 5870 and my motherboard is a Dell Inc. 0X501H

Jun 14, 2012In short the notebook freezes randomly, while I am working with After effects, browsing the net with chrome, using excel. Just average desktop work. Sometimes the freezing happens a lot and sometimes it just doesnt happen at all. It doesn't happen when I am watching a movie or playing a game. The freeze is weird. The computer looks like it is frozen, but the mouse cursor still works and everything still works. because when it unfreezes after a minute or so, I am on the window where I have clicked on the task bar, or alt-tabbed to. I can stop the music, whatever, everything still works. A while back, I was working in After effects and I had Mocha open at the same time, the notebook was freezing like mad, I was getting mad and taking out my frustration out by clicking like mad all over the screen, then i discovered if i clicked on the mocha icon in the task bar, hey pesto, screen unfreezes. This doesn't work with any other app open.
What the hell is going on, it's driving me nuts, I don't want to have mocha open all the time, just so i can unfreeze the screen. I have already tried so much to troubleshoot this, I have run out of ideas. reinstalled, tested ram with mem test, tested gfx card, latest drivers, scoured event viewer for errors, swapped hard drives. checked latency, all ok. Dodgy rouge software maybe I don't know.
