View 1 RepliesCursor disappears on the right side of the screen, and am unable to turn right whilst playing games.
Have changed graphics card but am still having a problem.
So my cursor keeps disappearing ever since i got an update for windows 7. I don't think there is anything wrong with this computer because my laptop is doing the same thing after i updated it. I have went into my mouse settings but nothing has fixed it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedCursor is disappearing after few seconds while typing. I have to click again on the working page to bring back the cursor. I am totally tired in this.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have experienced the cursor "shutting off" after several seconds. Typing anywhere not possible - email, word processing, etc. To reactivate, the mouse had to be left-clicked. After trying literally everything to resolve, I performed a total system restore back to when the laptop was new. Obviously, a Windows 7 update has a serious glitch. I am now getting requests to allow updates and am denying them. How do I keep updates from automatically occurring? I plan to deny updates until I can get Windows 8.

View 1 Replies View Relatedjust the touchpad. My problem is that sometimes, my cursor will just...jam. Like, stick in some spot on the screen. When it does that, my keyboard will also go dead, and nothing seems to revive it (holding down Ctrl+Alt+Del does nothing; nor does the Esc button). The thing is, though, activity still remains on screen. It's not like that part of it freezes up. For example, I've had it happen to me when I was on Twitter, and yet new tweets came in. And today, when I was filming myself with my webcam, it happened and I was still able to see myself moving in the webcam -- yet I couldn't do anything with the cursor or the keyboard.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy computer has started freezing up with the cursor hanging constantly as the blue rotating circle as if something is loading. I can't access any programs or bring up the task manager but I can move the mouse. It started out happening infrequently when I would first start the computer. It would boot up normally but when I tried to start a program it would freeze and the only thing I could do was power off and restart.
Now it happens every time I start the computer unless in safe mode, which works with no issue. Usually within the first 5 minutes after booting up the computer freezes. I have been able to open some programs or games in full screen and play normally but I am unable to alt+tab out of the game. When I exit to the desktop, everything is locked up as if the freeze has already occurred in the background.
I am running Windows 7 64bit SP1
Intel Core i5-3570k CPU
8GB RAM
GeForce GTX 670 GPU
I recently built my first PC three days ago...
Specs:
i7 bloomfield 960 processor
4x4 vengeance ram
crosair hx850 PSU
evga x58 ftw3 mobo
hd 6870 radeon graphics xfx
When I first installed windows it started to work just fine but I soon noticed that it would randomly freeze every 15-30 minutes of use, but not on a particular program or anything. I assumed it was drivers so I installed the latest drivers for my GPU and MOBO and keyboard. It seemed fine again until it started crashing again. I ran a GPU burn test and a CPU burn test it passed both. (I tried runing memtest86+ but it froze at like 12%) Then I tried fixing the registry so I downloaded ccleaner and fixed the registry problems. Freezes continued. I finally decided to re install windows so I did and the problems still continued. I am at a loss of what to do and can't think of anything else.
I am an IT tech in a school and we currently have a problem with mice pointers disappearing on the screen.connected to an interactive whiteboard (not brand specific)left until the screen goes black (10 minutes)while people are working on them (on SIMS)all said work stations are on the domain Update on mouse drivers disable screen dimming after 10 minutes (doesn't go off)updated graphics drivers enable mouse trails and set to minimum Swapping from duplicate to extended or computer only.
Mouse is still visible on the whiteboard projection, but not on the monitor in duplicate mode.It not confined to a type of machine or brand.Over the summer holidays a new image was applied, win7 32bit.
I have recently downloaded 'paint.net' to windows 7 and the icon keeps disappearing. Not necesarily on a restart but just over night or during the day at random. The program is still listed and works and it is on my start menu when I click on the windows icon in the bottom left corner. I have tried refreshing and still can't keep the shortcut on the desktop.

View 7 Replies View RelatedComputer is currently suffering from persistent freezing and bluescreens. It seems to happen almost randomly, and usually very soon after startup and loading of Windows. System restore has not helped.'fraid that's all the info I can give right now. Any recommendations? If anyone wants me to run hijackthis or dxdiag and post results I'd be more than happy to (assuming I can get that far before it freezes!). Safe mode does work, and the problem does not occur while in safe mode.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit, + SP1 and fully patched. 6 GB of RAM and over 1 TB of free space on the designated scratch drive. No 3rd-party modifications or hacks to the OS or GUI. Sporadically, my Windows Explorer folders lose their Address Bar. Sometimes this happens during a session, sometimes when I've rebooted the PC after previously shutting down and leaving some Windows open (but no apps running), but I've never actually see the Bar go.
What remains of the window will still be functional - I can navigate to other folders and files with the Tree pane on the left, for instance - but there'll simply be no Address Bar. (Which means no search input, refresh button or back and forward buttons.) I can toggle the Menu Bar on and off, but it doesn't bring the Address Bar back. Usually I simply end up closing that window; when I open a new one, it has an Address Bar, no worries.
It's not all Explorer windows that lose the Bar at the same time; typically, it will only be one out of maybe three or four I have open. And I haven't been able to find any pattern to when the Address Bar goes; it doesn't happen every time I use my PC, and I haven't spotted any pattern to what app(s) I might be running when it happens. I've been trying to spot a pattern, but haven't yet.
There may not be one; if I have two Explorer windows open and navigated to the same folder on the same drive, only one of the two might lose its Address Bar, so it doesn't seem to be location-specific. It's a completely legit, licensed retail copy of Windows, and I'm not running any pirate or hacked software. I have Nortons Internet Security 2011 installed and keep it maintained. And I don't seem to have any other problems - no identified misbehaviours, no error messages.
I have a custom machine that I just recently built a few months ago. Last week, I decided to upgrade the mobo so that I could have more ram slots and a second PCI Express slot. I swapped out the mobos, booted the computer, and everything was working just fine. The only problem is that I'm running Windows 7 OEM and I've heard that you can run into problems when swapping out hardware. My computer was working for about 24 hours after installing the new mobo but at one point the other day the computer just shut itself down. I went to boot it back up and all that popped up was BIOS. I inserted my Windows disc to try and repair my system and I came to find out that my Operating System, along with everything on the Hard Drive was GONE. I have never heard of such a thing happening. So I reinstalled 7 and basically had to start over from scratch. Another day goes by and the same thing happens. This is now the second time I've had to reinstall Windows 7. My computer is running fine now but I am afraid that this is going to happen again so I'm reluctant to put anything on my hard drive until I know this issue is resolved. I contacted MS but they aren't much help as I only have the OEM version of Windows.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a new Dell StudioXPS 9000 with Windows 7. The desktop shortcut icons that I create myself to run existing programs keep disappearing from the desktop all by themselves. Those that were already on the desktop when I received the computer and those that are created by new software when installed on the computer have no problem remaining on the desktop. I never had the happen with WinXP.
View 29 Replies View RelatedWhy are my Windows system restore points disappearing?I am having problems with my system restore points in Windows 7. I create the restore points, but when after I shut down my PC, they are gone. This is happening with all restore points that the system creates also, such as when it installs updates. I have tried everything suggested online. I made sure that system restore is on, I checked the service, and I set volume shadowing to automatic. Why are Windows system restore points disappearing?

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhat would cause 9 shares that I have on USB drives to disappear every time Windows 7 is rebooted? I have to recreate them every time. I did a test with another Windows 7 machine, using 1 USB share, and the first time I shared it with the 'Share with Specific People' adding Everyone to the list, and it disappeared upon reboot. I then did it through the Advanced Sharing in the Properties of the folder, rebooted and it actually remembered it. However doing it through the Advanced Sharing on the PC with 9 shares, it still didn't remember them after reboot. Why is there 2 different places to share anyway? I want to think 1 is for remote users and 1 is for local users, but then why don't they just say that, do they have to make it so confusing. It's totally not intuitive.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have my screen saver set at 15 minutes. I first noticed something odd this past weekend. The screen saver was on when I drifted off to the land of sweet dreams. Sometime during the night I woke up, looked across the room, and I saw my desktop. Other than thinking "why do I see my desktop" I thought nothing else about it. Since then I have actually seen the screen saver disappear and my desktop appear. I was on the other side of the room, not on the computer, the mouse did not get moved, and nothing happened that would cause this.
I've not been able to figure out why all of a sudden the desktop would appear. What I can do to keep the screen saver on until I want to go to my desktop? I noticed that after a while the screen saver would come back on and stay on a while before going back to the desktop. It's caught in a loop of going back and forth. In the grand scheme of things, this is not a biggie but I'd still like to know why this is happening.
I currently use Windows Live Photo gallery to edit and organise my photos. Its worked fine until recently.. after editing a photo yesterday I clicked on the arrow button to move onto the next image and as usual a dialogue box popped up telling me it was saving the changes made to the photo and I could click to revert to the original at any time. I moved onto the next image but realised that I'd forgotten to do something and clicked to go back, but the image had gone. I've searched through all my photos and looked in my recyle bin, but the image is nowhere to be found. I may be missing something obvious of course, but I'm scratching my head to know what has happened.

Everything seemed ok apart from my CD/ROM drive. It works now and again but will suddenly disappear. I have seen people saying clean it but I dont think this is necessary as it worked a treat on Windows Vista. I tried to burn a disc in Windows Media Player but it says "connect a burner & restart the player". I have tried deleting the filters in the regedit. I have this morning re-installed Windows 7 but instead installed the 32bit version
