I just installed a new version of Microsoft Office 2010 and had 2007 before.I installed it in addition to keeping the 2007, which is fine. What I want to figure out how to do, it to get all the folders of 2010 that are scattered around my "start" menu, put them all together under a folder named 2010 and then get that folder under Programs. Right now, some are on the desktop and other places.I don't really want to try messing around with it because I have a tendency to screw things up!

Building the OS from scratch seem to me to be the best way to go when building a new computer. As time goes on after a year two or three the OS seem to get sick such as my auto run don't work no more and after Microsoft work on it for 3 hours it really don't run no more. Bugs, jitters, shakes and just old age. So after I build the computer I think I'm just going to build the OS from scratch. I've did it both ways, from scratch and just move it to the new computer and after I just reload the OS and rebuild it I feel so much better not to mention the computer runs like a high school student instead of someone like me that just took sum Vitamins.

I have an AMD 790gx chip set with ati radeon hd 3300 graphics. When playing Stronghold Crusader the only two resolutions are 1024x768 and 800x600. With both of these selected the game is being stretched on the bottom and top and making it where I can't get to the building icons. The resolution on my computer is set to 1366X768. When dropping the screen resolution on my pc it either doesn't help or the Windows doesn't fit on the screen properly anymore. Anyone know how I can just turn off the game scaling either in windows or the Catalyst control panel. On my laptop the game just has black bars on both sides instead of trying to stretch the game. How would I go about turn this on my desktop.

I have recently purchased a Sony VAIO Laptop, running Windows 7 Premium. On my attached screenshot, you will notice parts of the pages are transparent, I can see my desktop and other images which are underneath. Is this normal on Windows 7 or should I return it to the store from which I purchased it?

I am looking to upgrade the following components
* Ram
*Motherboard
*Hard Drive(s)
I would like to keep my AMD cpu as it seems to meet criteria of the games i play, My graphics card is running smooth and does ok for it's self for the time being, But this will be upgraded to a 6870 in time to come. I would also like to stay on the AMD side of hardware. The problem is i don't know what i should look for in a motherboard. Also the same with ram, with boards i've looked at and ram ranging from 1666mhz the MOBO requires OCing. trying to find these parts as my main concern is Battlefield 3, it ran perfect on high but i just wanna give it the extra boost to ultra.

I'm unsure exactly how to choose what chipset I want to buy for him. Previously, I just sort of looked at each of my available motherboard options, and chose which one had the requirements I was looking for. However, my friend is on a budget, so I feel like buying a specific chipset might be a better, cheaper option (instead of buying one with the ports that he wants, but with other ports he doesn't need). Is there an easy way to compare the different chipsets? The Wikipedia article is somewhat useful, but also seems to have some inconsistancies (I own a Z68 motherboard with USB 3.0 support, something the Wikipedia article doesn't list). Then again, perhaps this is normal for motherboards,To elaborate on my friend's preferences, he has no need for any integrated graphics, and would be.interested in future-proofing (SATA III, USB 3, PCI-e 3), if the price is right. He'll be buying an Ivy Bridge LGA 1155.

I am building a Media Center PC. I have two questions relating to Windows Media Center:
1) I can watch TV via TV card, but can I watch TV from another source such as HDMI or AV from my satalite reciever or PS3?
2) Can WMC work with a dual monitor graphics card? I would like to transmit the media center screen via AV to monitors & speakers, while being able to use the PC for other use via VGA connection.

I'm building a Windows 7 image from scratch. Does anyone know how I can get the OEM info to display the make, model, and serial number of the PC in the System Properties automatically no matter which system I send this image to?I know you can set them manually in the registry, but I want to know if it's possible to pull this from the PC it's installed on.

building a computer tower all out of plexiglass, everything would be made with 3/4' plexiglass. I would make a back panel out of 1/2' sheet of metal where the mother board would mount onto it's a "Asus P8P67 WS Revolution: Intel P67 Express, Nvidia NF200 PCIe Bridge, LGA 1155". The power supply would be an "OCZ-Z1000M: 1000W Modular, ATX12V v2.2, EPS12V, 80 PLUS Gold". Would be installing a H70 CPU cooler onto a 2600k cpu. Will also be running about six fans about 120mm in size.

I have a lot of files (songs) which names are of the following type:
xxxx - yyyy
Where x represents the artist's name and y represents the song's name. Now, I need a way to bulk edit these files so that everything left of the hyphen is removed and later on the hyphen itself so that the filenames only consist of the song's name.Is there a way to bulk do this? I have over 660 songs.

I saw someone had posted earlier about what I think is the same issue, but the page disappeared. My TV is not going to the resolution that I set on the computer. It is going to 1920x1080 which looks awful since it is not its native setting. I wanted it set to 1360x768 which looks the best. Does anyone know why my TV is doing this? I use to be able to do it but had trouble recently when I showed my friend today.

i am getting the asus motherboard as i like the brand and i know its a reliable board for the price. i know the psu isn't a amazing brand but all the reviews are good. i honestly don't care for a case but its better then using my old one and its a 5 star egg and comes with a fan. the ram im going to install is supposed to be amazing for the price and is customer choice award. and the cpu im going with is a i3 2100 as that is all i need. i mean im upgrading from a pentium 4 should be wayyyy better i also have seen many many Internet videos with the i3 in the board i picked.$307 for pretty much a whole new computer? this is my first build so im going small :p i think its pretty good links: basic case 530w psu 8gb ram asus p8h61 motherboard intel i3 2100 @ 3.1ghz (i have a good dvd drive)(will put in good gpu in about 2-4 months)
(i have hdd and will order windows)overall:i am sticking with the asus motherboard and i3 processor (don't suggest another brand motherboard or cpu please i am settled )

I have Windows 7 installed on my computer. I'm helping a friend fix his computer. He has a netbook with no DVD drive and I couldn't find my external DVD drive. I plugged his hard drive into my computer to access it. I successfully installed windows to his hard drive form my computer. I then removed the drive and will place it back in his computer soon.now when my computer boots it tries to boot from the Windows 7 installation I did to his hard drive. I get an error saying that the drive has been removed or is not accessible or whatever. Obviously that's because I removed it.can I change the default OS to boot from? I have 2 Windows 7 options (mine and the installation I just did on his). Can I remove the option to boot from the recent installation I did on his hard drive?

I was downloading a screen recorder called camstudio and once I downloaded it it asked to choose a programme to open it with, so I chose winrar because most of my other files were opened with this, but then once I chose this all of my icons in the bottom bar were changed to the winrar programme logo, so I thought if I uninstalled the winrar software the problem would be solved, so I did but now all the icons are gone and every time I try and open something it asks me to choose a programme to open it with!

Just got in some new Dell Latitude ST tablets at my work. We used WDS for our imaging process. Problem is these new Dell ST's do not have support PXE on the nic's.
How can I create a wim image of the tablet that I have built? I have a bootable USB key all built and I can switch out the wim, I'm just not sure how to capture a wim of the tablet without the WDS.

I'm planning on building a new PC myself for the first time and I'm not sure how to go about getting the proper disks to install Windows with. I have a genuine product key for a copy of Windows 7 Professional 64bit which I downloaded from Microsoft directly. If I recall, I had to purchase a clean install version because I could not upgrade to 7 Professional from Vista Home Premium. Is there a way I can use my product key to obtain the disks I need to install Windows on a new system, or will I have to purchase another copy entirely?

I am running 64 bit Windows 7 Professional, with service pack 1 installed. This worked at one time, before I upgraded to Professional and added service pack 1 (or at least I set up the backup one time). I tried to change the time to run the automatic backup in "Control Panel - System and Security - Backup and Restore". The link inside the window named "change settings" didn't do anything. So I turned off the schedule thinking that might let me change the settings. Now neither the "change settings" nor the "turn on schedule" links do anything. Now I have to do the backups manually. I am a firm believer in backing things up to a network drive every night.I run 4 different automatic malware / spyware scans every night and I am usually clean except for a couple of tracking cookies.

I need help choosing a decent vcard for online gaming. Games like Lineage II, LoL, Bloodline Champions, Dragon Nest... i dont mind playing with low details, i just like to have smooth gameplay and I usually don't play full screen unless it has no option to play windowed.Seeing on the system specs they usually have for minimun requirements for the games i download is the geforce 6600 gt, though, after asking my pc tech friend, he said that card is old so people dont sell it anymore and he suggested the GT430. After some googling, it seems that many people came to agree that the GT430 isnt good for gaming and they gave comments saying at least get a GTX460 for decent gaming. I'm totally new to the video card world so i have no idea how to choose one. [code]
