Would this copy of windows 7 expire and be un useable if i change my mobo or cpu etc etc like my last copy or will this be ok after changing the parts in my pc? i like to change my pc parts from time to time Microsoft Windows 7 Premium
little bit confused on what to do. I've been running the Windows RC since last summer, and as alot of you know its due to stop working on March 1, so naturally its time for me to bite the bullet and buy the normal release version.
However, I am a bit confused as to whether or not I can buy the upgrade version or not? From what I understand, you can just get the upgrade version if you are currently running XP or Vista. However, right now I have the RC installed.
Anyway, my plan is to do a format, and wipe the RC clean, then install a fresh version of retail Win7. Will I be able to do that if I purchase the upgrade version? I do have a legit copy of WinXP, however its not currently installed on my hdd, since I reformatted over the summer and put the 7 RC on instead. Will I need to reinstall XP first before upgrading?
I guess what I am asking is, what will happen if I reformat and just install the upgrade version fresh on a freshly reformatted partition?
I have Windows 7 Home Premium legal version installed on my pc. I just seen a message popping up stating that Evaluation copy build 7601 will expire in 14 days. Some time ago I had a hdd crash and had to install new hdd. Original Windows 7 could not be installed due to hardware change and I contacted Microsoft Thailand on June 7 whom connected me toSingapore/HongKong?The helpdesk had me check product key with slui.exe 4 and I had to give all numbers. She than gave me new numbers to put in A to G boxes and Windows 7 could be installed and is working fine since.
Im breaking my old machine down and since I have to repurchase windows im hoping to get something back for my old copy. I understand the oem version is linked to this 1 pc only and my question is 'what is considered as the pc?'Can I sell just the motherboard with windows or does it require the hdd or even more parts to work again?
I am running 64 bit Windows 7 Professional, with service pack 1 installed. This worked at one time, before I upgraded to Professional and added service pack 1 (or at least I set up the backup one time). I tried to change the time to run the automatic backup in "Control Panel - System and Security - Backup and Restore". The link inside the window named "change settings" didn't do anything. So I turned off the schedule thinking that might let me change the settings. Now neither the "change settings" nor the "turn on schedule" links do anything. Now I have to do the backups manually. I am a firm believer in backing things up to a network drive every night.I run 4 different automatic malware / spyware scans every night and I am usually clean except for a couple of tracking cookies.
I just installed a new version of Microsoft Office 2010 and had 2007 before.I installed it in addition to keeping the 2007, which is fine. What I want to figure out how to do, it to get all the folders of 2010 that are scattered around my "start" menu, put them all together under a folder named 2010 and then get that folder under Programs. Right now, some are on the desktop and other places.I don't really want to try messing around with it because I have a tendency to screw things up!
I have recently purchased a Sony VAIO Laptop, running Windows 7 Premium. On my attached screenshot, you will notice parts of the pages are transparent, I can see my desktop and other images which are underneath. Is this normal on Windows 7 or should I return it to the store from which I purchased it?
I would like to keep my AMD cpu as it seems to meet criteria of the games i play, My graphics card is running smooth and does ok for it's self for the time being, But this will be upgraded to a 6870 in time to come. I would also like to stay on the AMD side of hardware. The problem is i don't know what i should look for in a motherboard. Also the same with ram, with boards i've looked at and ram ranging from 1666mhz the MOBO requires OCing. trying to find these parts as my main concern is Battlefield 3, it ran perfect on high but i just wanna give it the extra boost to ultra.
I have a lot of files (songs) which names are of the following type:
xxxx - yyyy
Where x represents the artist's name and y represents the song's name. Now, I need a way to bulk edit these files so that everything left of the hyphen is removed and later on the hyphen itself so that the filenames only consist of the song's name.Is there a way to bulk do this? I have over 660 songs.
I want upgrade my PC some parts including "Processor,VGA etc" so i want select most suitable parts. So are there're any special utility software for that?
i am getting the asus motherboard as i like the brand and i know its a reliable board for the price. i know the psu isn't a amazing brand but all the reviews are good. i honestly don't care for a case but its better then using my old one and its a 5 star egg and comes with a fan. the ram im going to install is supposed to be amazing for the price and is customer choice award. and the cpu im going with is a i3 2100 as that is all i need. i mean im upgrading from a pentium 4 should be wayyyy better i also have seen many many Internet videos with the i3 in the board i picked.$307 for pretty much a whole new computer? this is my first build so im going small :p i think its pretty good links: basic case 530w psu 8gb ram asus p8h61 motherboard intel i3 2100 @ 3.1ghz (i have a good dvd drive)(will put in good gpu in about 2-4 months) (i have hdd and will order windows)overall:i am sticking with the asus motherboard and i3 processor (don't suggest another brand motherboard or cpu please i am settled )
I need help choosing parts for building a Desktop PC! I will use it for gaming, programming, watching HD movies, and I want to watch 3D (if my budget can). My budget is $1,500.I want my processor Intel, and i7 if it is good! These are what I choose for RAM and Storage: [code] I want to add WiFi adapter, and I want the Mobo to have so much PCI slots.I don't mind if the Mobo is so big, because the case I will choose is Full Tower!
My question is how do I copy subtitles from a dvd to my computer but I only want the subtitles which come up when something is spoken in a language apart from English. Like what happens when you play a dvd normally.
I have an issue with my printer!!! it does this both on XP and Windows 7.if I print plain text, it is just fine but if I print a picture all black parts of the picture are printed out as silver color instead it has done this since I installed a new Black ink cartridge in my HP PSC 1210xi printer!I cannot figure out why it is doing this nor am I able to fix it!!! my ink status window on my computer says both color and black cartridges are ok!!!
I noticed something was wrong when I could not login on Skype when the input boxes did not show up.I noticed the gadgets, which have been installed since installation a year ago, suddenly were hardly visible and are non-functional. The option button is also missing. The machine is a Toshiba laptop, with all update functions active, ie drivers should all be up-to-date. I'm running Windows 7 64 Home Premium SP1.I tried switching off aero, but that did nothing. Changing resolution and graphics settings also did nothing for me.
This all started whenever I wanted to change my text size different by changing my DPI settings. What I did was right click, go to screen resolution, and clicked on "Make text and other items larger or smaller". From this I changed it to 100% from 125%. I noticed it had changed my font size to the 100%. It then made everything SUPER small when I changed my theme settings.Whenever I right click and go into personalization settings, I do the usual customizing to my likings. Since I want to save the theme, I do so by naming it, blah. Now I want to use the blah theme by click on it, and I do so. Everything is fine and dandy until I right click my desktop to refresh(out of habit). This is the before and after of the font sizes.
Before After
My workaround was to set a custom DPI setting, log off like it prompts me to, then changing it back to 100%, again prompting to do so. It is so annoying to do so.
I've been trying to change the motherboard and cpu in my current computer. After hooking everything up, the computer runs till the windows 7 loading screen, then stalls and restarts. Upon restart I'm brought to the "windows has failed to start" message and attempting to repair through that yields no results. I hooked my old parts back up to make sure the hard drive was still good and it is. With the old parts everything boots normally.
The new parts I'm putting in are;
-AMD fx 6 core 3.3ghz processor -Asus M5A97 motherboard

I am looking for a video editor that can split the video into parts (preferably free). Most of my vidoes are in the .wmv format and sizes range from a few mb up to 4 gb. In most circumstances, it would be used to remove the beginning and end of the video.
Several topics are out there, but I didn't manage to find any solution, so I'll ask againI noticed this because I couldn't connect battlefield bad company 2 to the ea servers (to sign in).now, no need to panic I thought, things like that happen, but it has been going on for a week, so I started to investigate. While trying some EA domains I found that Support Home Page wouldn't load up on my windows 7 64bit (sp1).now this site does load up on my dual-booted linux... as well as on any other pc in my network. In fact, I even tried my mobile network on windows 7 but it simply wont load!So I went trough this list of things I tried out:Removing ESET internet security (nod32) using the special uninstall tool Turning off windows firewall Resetting windows firewall to defaults flushing dns cache reset host file renew LAN connection reset tcp/ip stack microsoft fix it firewall repair tool Several network solution finders in windows Direct connection to my modem Restore windows to earliest point I could find now I dunno... but that seems to sum up all possible fixes I'm aware of.(just a month old), and apart from this thing it runs fine.
Windows tool: "Source (customersupport.ea.com) is online, but doesn't respond to connection attempts".Well windows is right about that...I can resolve (nslookup) the address from cmd, I can even ping it successfully! For now I installed a squid proxy server on my linux router to connect to every website, but that still doesn't fix my game.More-over, WHAT could this be? because I'm completely in the dark here
I have recently bought a new notebook that comes with Windows 7 OS installation. I installed the Windows 7 with the 32 bit option. I wish to install the 64 bit option now and wonders how can I convert from 32 bit to 64 bit?
One of the computer is windows 7 and the other XP SP3. Both computers have the same 4 user accounts. Win7 pc is set to share file/printer and public files with password. On the XP machine, I went to My Network Places, to the specific Workgroup, to the win7 computer, and folders. A windows dialog came up asking for user id and password. I put in an admin id and password on the win7 pc. Here is my problem. I realized I shouldn't be using that id. But, I can't find a way to change the id on the XP pc. I went to the user account, then manage my network passwords. But, there is no ID and PW
I'm looking to get a new motherboard so I can SLI some graphics cards but I was wondering.I bought a copy of Windows 7 OEM. I have a ASUS P8H77-V LGA. I am looking to get this motherboard to replace it.I still have the disc for the Windows. My question is if I change the motherboards will I have to do another install? and if I do no biggy but would I not be able to install it with it being a OEM copy? Or could I and not register it? or how does all that work?
I have an ASUS notebook running windows7 and 4g memory. I changed the msconfig boot.ini /MAXMEM from its default (an uncheked box, but I presume 4096) to 256 while trying to get a program to load. Saved and rebooted, now all I get is a BSOD with a stop error. since I cant get back into windows , would anyone know how to change this parameter back to its default? restore points dont work, automatic repairs dont work either.
