View 49 RepliesI've built a dozen PCs for myself and family members, but now I have a paying customer that wants a new PC with Windows-7 installed.I have my OEM copy and can easily install & register it for them, but I'd like to provide them with their own copy of Windows 7 on DVD. My OEM copy is too big to fit on a normal DVD and I'd rather not give them an OEM disc anyway. Is there a way to provide them with a DVD of Windows-7 after I install my OEM copy, or must I purchase the "full" version for $125 just so they have a physical copy?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Studio XPS laptop with 4 gig of ram,128 SSD and an Nvidia SLi setup.
The one thing I have noticed is that when I do a clean install there are no crashed but it is only after about 50 hours of use that the random freezes start to happen. I have tried to see any correlation to when they happen but I can't spot anything. I have run windows 7 very happily on other machines so I am thinking it must be related to the drivers provided by dell (for vista).
I have checked event logs but there is nothing there, just blank from the second the machine hangs.
All bios functions still work like screen brightness, but caps lock and things like that are frozen.
Has anyone experienced anything similar or has any ideas?
I have received a link which has 50 jpg files in it. I opened the link and all the pictures are there. I clicked on select all and all files are highlighted and i clicked on save as but only one file is saved.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI work for a company that makes tablets that have windows 7 professional x32 installed. At times we have to re-image the tablet. The image does not include any windows 7 updates on it and as were kinda low on the totem pole I don't see that being changed any time soon for our convenience. Me and some of the other Techs working in the shop were looking for a way to install all the windows 7 updates at one time without having to monitor it all day long constantly restarting between updates. It can sometimes take a full 8 hour day to get all the updates installed on one tablet because we are not able to monitor them at all times so there is a lot of down time of it waiting to restart.Basically what I am asking is there a way to put all windows 7 updates on a flash drive or a program online that will automate the windows update process with a fresh install of windows 7?

2. This is the main thing that we need. We saw this implemented at a Staples. What we want is for the computer to be locked, and to unlock it, a customer has to swipe their credit card on a box connected to the computer via USB. Once the customer does this, they can use the computer, and a small timer in the corner shows how much time has been used, since they are being charged per minute. Then, once the customer is finished, the computer will relock and print a receipt.oes anyone have an idea on how to do this? We've tried programs such as Smartlaunch, but we were having trouble with it, and it appears that an account has to be created for each user. The point of the set up we require is so that we don't have to be present for the customer to pay to use the computer.
View 2 Replies View RelatedCustomer has Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64 bit OS. Customer highlights a sequence of consecutive MS Word 2010 files in his C:usersUserNameMy Documents folder (NOT the My Documents library but the actual folder). He right clicks and selects Print in the pop-up menu. Some print, some do not and the order of printing is NOT EXACTLY the order of the files in the folder. On previous customer PCs running Vista and Windows XP the above worked PERFECTLY. However, the customer was running Word 2007 on the Vista PCs.
note this is NOT the Word 2010 error about "xxxx normal.dot" that Google search will quickly show for bulk printing. There is NO error message. Also the normal.dot error prevents all but the first file from printing ; he gets several files to print. Also this is NOT printing from a Window 7 library (which did not exist in earlier OS's). A windows 7 library is ACTUALLY links to files in the actual folders and MAYBE bulk printing would not work for a library BUT this is the actual My Documents folder as defined above (full path name). Also he has only tried this for Word 2010 files BUT that could be because that is all he want to print. The problem could occur with a mix of ANY printable files (ex Word and PDFs); I can not report on whether that is true or not as I only have info from the customer on the phone about this at the moment.
(1) Has any other sevenforums expert seen this problem or can provide a link to a forum where someone else reported this problem.
(2) What is the solution OR is does this feature just not work right in Windows 7. Regarding this last thing, please note the feature has not worked right since he first booted his Windows 7 SP1 PC. It did not work initially and then later fail.
I have a copy of Windows 7 Home Premium installed on this here computer. Now, It's an OEM. Here's the catch. This computer, right here, right now- is new. My OEM copy has been used twice, so according to the activation servers, I shouldn't be allowed to do that because OEMs are supposed to be machine specific. Now, to do some explaining. My old computer completely and utterly died last year, so I was unable to uninstall Windows 7 from the system, So I think it still believes it's registered to that computer, which is no longer the case. It is, in fact, registered to this new one. But since the key has been used before. We've got a problem?
View 4 Replies View Related2 years ago, I bought an Acer laptop that came with Window 7 Home Premium 64-bit. But my boyfriend at the time decided that Home Premium wasn't good enough, so he pirated a copy of Ultimate 64-bit and installed it on my laptop despite me asking him not to. He also "lost" the restore disk.Fairly recently, the laptop failed to pass genuine advantage, and I'd like to try to go back to using the legit key that I can still read on the bottom of the laptop. If I buy an OEM version of Windows 7 Home Premium, could I use the disk to install the OS on my laptop and use the product key that is printed on the bottom of the laptop? I plan on building a new desktop, and would like to use the new product key that comes with the disk for that.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded from vista to windows 7. One of the reasons was I have a very large music collection and vista had a ton of bugs when it came to displaying my folder art making it very difficult to browse for something. Now I must label each jpeg "folder" in order for it to appear as cover art for the folder.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI bought a PC with Seven Family 64 bit preinstalled, so I have a first legit number. I installed (clean install) on that PC Window Ultimate, retail bought, so with another (second) legit number. My question is: Do-I have the right to install (upgrade install) Seven (Family) - but I'd prefer 32 bit - on my portable with the first number, so the number from the preinstalled Seven (which I no more use). Would It Work? Would it be accepted by Microsoft Would I be able to use a 64bit number with a 32 bit Seven? And if it ever it is a validation problem, or it fails, would I be able to downgrade to my old Vista (without reinstalling all my application or so) I am a little confused with the difference between preinstalled licenses right and retail one.
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo I am about to sell my laptop which has a legit Windows 7 Home Premium.I was planning to use WipeDrive (If someone knows a better program for this tell me) to wipe the entire HDD clean. Then I was going to install Windows 7 that I downloaded from Digital River and use that to install Windows. If I do this process, it will ask me for a CD key correct? Then if I input the legit key I have right now will it work? Or will Windows say "This key is already in use" or something like that.

If I did this, I assume I would have to install the Full version correct?

If one buys, say, Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, but decided to fall back to Professinoal 32-bit, does the Product Key work?
I have only used 32-bit XP and Vista, but am looking at switching to 64-bit with Windows 7 (new PC purchase) and I wasn't sure if the Product Keys are tied to the bit type you are using. Obviously, they are tied to the version (Home Premium, Professional, etc).
I've had the impression with the Windows 7 Beta/RC that a Windows 7 Ultimate Product Key, for example, will work on the 32 or 64-bit version, but wasn't sure.
Has anyone seen this shorctut Windows + P? To me it switches between modes of connected projectors.
