I am having issues with my laptop. Sometimes when i type the letters turn into shortcut keys and when i am in the middle of an important school asignment I loose my work, because i can't do anything. I can use my mouse, but when i try to use my keyboard it is almost inoperable. I have even tried to use an external keyboard and the samething happens. I have used Rkill, malwarbytes, norton and ccleaner, but nomatter what i do it keeps happening. The only way i have been able to temperarily fix it is to restart the computer and the problem can come back in 30 minutes or it can come back in 10hours . it even happens when i play games.

Windows 7 shortcut Keys for those who use them. "As with its previous counterparts (Windows XP, Windows ME, Windows 98, Windows 95, Vista), developers of Windows 7 have made available many shortcut keys to make our lives easier. These shortcut keys are very similar to those of Windows Vista. We'll take a look at some of these shortcut keys below.
* New in Windows 7 * Managing Windows * Starting Programs * Logging In And Out * Viewing Folders With Explorer * Windows Sidebar And Gadgets"
Windows 7 Shortcut Keys / Windows / Computer Productivity
I have created a shortcut to a jpg file. It opens fine when I click the shortcut. However, when I assign any key to it the key will not open the jpg although the jpg still opens when I click on it.What am I missing? Maybe this approach does not work with a jpg file.
In am using Dell N5010 after i press the function keys the keys below that line that is numerical keys 1 to 10 and - & + (except backspace) are not working kindly advice what will be the reason
What is the shortcut keys for putting a Media PC to sleep within WMC? Without having to scroll down to Sleep/Shutdown at the bottom? This is so I can program my remote to make my Media PC go to sleep instead of just exiting out of WMC and bringing up Windows shutdown dialogue box (about as much use as a chocolate fireguard!).
On my dell inspiron 15r the F1-F12 keys are covered by multimedia keys like volume, screen brightness, battery, internet, and other. I need to disable these because in some video games I play, I need to use these keys because they are set hotkeys that cannot be changed.
When using Notepad (Version 6.1.7600.16385) (or just any Version for that matter) and trying to delete a whole word using the very handy ctrl + delete shortcut key, the Notepad application types this very strange symbol instead. Actually... I couldn't paste it for some reason. But it looks like a little box thing. Just try it in notepad and you will see it appear. First of all I find this annoying, so I was wondering what can I do to make it so ctrl + del works in Notepad for deleting whole words (because I love notepad). And second, why does it do this? Notepad isn't the only text box in Windows 7 that does this, I've found it on a couple of other text input elements as well. And what does this symbol even mean?
In windows XP, I used to be able use "ALT + E + S" to programmatically grab the contents of a command window. This does not work in Windows 7. When you right click on the title, the "Edit" selection no longer has the "E" underlined, indicating the shortcut key to use.
Does anyone know if there is a way to turn these back on?
My Grandchildren were playing with the keyboard on my HP lap top (windows 7) and during their manic pressing of the keys within 10 seconds had managed to turn the screen upside down, everything is there only the screen is affected.
I have a sony vaio laptop, just installed Windows 7, but the FN keys doesn't work to adjust lights/sound as normally. How do I solve this? Sony doesn't offer support on this!
last night, without any reason, my f4, f5, f6, and esc keys stopped working. it solved itself, but shortly afterwords it did it again, and even after two reboots i cannot get them to work again. i use hotkeys all the time in firefox and elsewhere, and these are probably my most-used keys. they're very useful and not being able to use them feels really restricting. i don't know what caused this, but i do know that both times it happened i was browsing Internet. i don't know if that's coincidental or not, but at this point i just don't care.
Usually with most computers (or previous ones at least...) if the key fell off (not the white part, just the key), I was able to just press it down and pop it back on. This one won't stay on.
I just downloaded build 7600.16834 iso (x64) and looking at the website below which shows the install screens the RTM version is asking for a product key. Does anyone know what to use as a product key as I only have the RC Keys.
I am sure I have read somewhere that you can skip entering the key and then re-arm the RTM version for 120 days. Is this correct?
I don't want to wipe a perfectly good system only to get to the end of the RTM install where you input the key and be stuck there!
Because I lost the use of my left arm in a bike accident a few years back, there are a few very important requirements though... I play more FPS games than any others, so here are a few must-haves:Must have a tilting scroll wheel that is easy to get to: I use this to strafe in FPS games. Must have at least 10 buttons: used for almost everything except moving forwards and backwards, I have a keyboard on the floor for that. Must be a decent size (palm-grip style mouse): I need to still be able to hold the mouse while I use all the buttons. Must have profiles: many games don't allow me to use certain keys, and I'm getting tired of changing the mouse button functions every time. Preferably wireless: I'm so used to wireless now that having a fixed cable just seems weird, and I prefer the heavier mice, which tend to be the wireless ones anyway... Price: no more than R1000 (approx $125 USD), but hopefully closer to the R700/R800 mark ($90/$100).
It's a bit difficult to find a list of mice with tilting scroll wheels.. I know virtually all of Logitech's mice have, while none of Razer's mice do, but there may be others that I don't even know about. Currently I'm looking at getting one of these two:Logitech G700 (13 buttons, hyper-scroll wheel) Roccat Kone+ (12 buttons, 22 functions with Shift+ key) Or are there any others that would be worth looking at..?
On the top of my notebook's keyboard there are some multimedia keys such as "Play, Stop ecc.." and I have a problem with Volume keys.
While I have to tap once on "Vol Up/Down"" to increase/decrease system volume of 10% in Vista, in Windows 7 every tap increases/decreases system volume of 2%.. it is very uncomfortable... Now.. does anyone know how to do in Seven the same thing I do in Vista?
I have exchanged two keys on my laptop keyboard .... (Windows 7)" was exchanged with the @ ........ as I was used to using a UK keyboard. I am passing that laptop to my daughter, as I have a new one. I set the keyboard back from UK English to English Australia. but it doesn't seem to have changed the keys.
I have a UK keyboard and using the AltGr key with a, e, i, o and u give me the letters with an acute accent ( ). Is there any way to remap them so I get the vowels with a grave accent?
I have been using a registry cleaner that has removed some system keys. The computer runs most stuff okay, but I am getting some failures on things like the window that used to come up and ask what to do when I plugged in a usb. Researching this is how I found that some registry keys were missing. I have been trying to get to the install / repair the exsisting winows part of the install cd that comes up when installing the program. I did it once before, but haven't been abble to get there again. I am not talking about the first repair options that come up at first, like restore from a restore point or from a system image. It's the one that comes up during the install process where you can choose a drive and format. The repair choice in that section uses the install cd and not a backed up file. The registry cleaner I was using did back up the registry every time it was run, but replaced it with the new back up each time. and the system image was replaced a few days ago, so no help. By the way, I no longer use the registry cleaner
