I updated my BIOS as I was having a problem mentioned in one of the updates. I was using the Easyflash2 by Asus and the update succeeded but when it re-booted I got the awful news..boot mgr missing. Would my best bet be to just re-image?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI haven't touched this laptop in a while. I received a virus which then slowed down my computer and made it really really slow to get into the windows log in screen. It wouldn't go past that. Now, 2 months later, I'm trying to install Ubuntu as my only OS. I hope this will get rid of whatever past problem I had. Is this true? The problem with this, is when I power it up and turn it on, the computer only goes to the "Toshiba Leading innovation" H2 BIOS screen. From here, the laptop screen keeps turning black/blank at random intervals (the disk drive kicks up after it turns blank). The screen returns to the BIOS screen... and I keep hitting F12 and nothing.

The laptop sometimes goes to the Boot Manager when turned on, the boot manager flickers and is uncontrollable. Other times it gives off a loud violent beep sound. Once it went to login but the keyboard would not work so i could not login.

Anyway since then every time I turn on my computer it loads Windows Boot Manager first instead of loading straight to Windows 7. I only have Windows 7 installed on this computer so there's no point in it asking me what operating system to load. I tried the 2 main methods described on these forums and they have not fixed the problem. Now the boot manager stays there until I select an option. Before this my computer used to boot in 30 seconds! Now it has to load the boot manager which takes an additional 30 seconds itself.
I did go into system properties>adv settings>advanced>startup and recovery>unchecked time to display list of operating systems. I also tried msconfig>boot
When receiving this message on boot up attempt running windows 7 home premium on a dell 1545 laptop with a fresh install and new hard drive would the problem be hardware related or software? Any chance it could be hardware related to the motherboard or is it most likely software related to the OS install?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've divided my disk into partitions and accidentally removed boot loader of windows and now I get "boot mgr is missing", so I cant load my windows I have a disk and put boot order in BIOS but it still does not give me an opportunity to install windows, so I have only openSUSE right now, and 2 partitions of windows with C: and D: disks. How to restore this bootloader or at least make install windows 7?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI use XP on my machine with two 300 GB HDs configured as RAID1 (Nvidia NForce 570 SLI). There are two partitions C (100 GB) for system and D (remaining 200 GB) for data. All is working fine.
Now I try to install Windows 7. First I resized D by 100 GB and installed Windows 7 on this new partition. I updated the Nvidia NForce RAID driver and can see correctly my RAID under Windows 7.
My problem now is that if I start my computer always the old XP boots up.
The Boot Manager is not present. The only way I can boot Windows 7 is to insert the
Windows 7 installation DVD (and not pressing any key) then Windows 7 is booting.
The boot manager is present but only on this new Windows 7 partition. I already tried (using EasyBCD under Windows 7) to add the old XP as a second entry in the Boot Manager but I was not able to boot XP using the boot manager.
I see the XP-Partition under Windows 7 and vice versa but it seems to be impossible to use the boot manager.
How can I install the Windows 7 Boot Manager on my XP-partition, thus I will be able to
choose whether to boot XP or Windows 7.
My laptop is msi laptop a msi fx420 It says BOOTMGR is missing .Before it happens I changed the active partition from the hidden partition to SYSTEM.I can't reformat it because there is no boot menu where i can change the boot priority.
View 3 Replies View RelatedEarlier I was trying to fix a DCP latency issue and latencymon suggested I update my BIOS. I got the BIOS from Asrock directly. During the update I was given a BSoD and memory dump. The dump froze at 15 and I eventually turned off the computer. Upon rebooting I was unable to get a display.
So far I have reset the cmos, switched between gpu and integrated graphics, removed the gpu and other adaptors, let the computer stay off for 30min; all of which has not worked. When resting the cmos I used both the jumper switch, quick clear, and battery removal.
Dr. Debug shows no errors when starting the computer and it appears to continue cycling boots, despite the lack of error.
O.S - Windows 7 home premium x64
CPU - i5 3750k 4.2gz
Motherboard - Asrock Z77 Extreme 4
Gpu - MSI 550ti
SSD - Corsair Neutron Gtx 128gb
Ram - 2x 4gb 1600 9-9-9-24 patriots.
After flashing the bios, my computer could not find the OS. The options displayed recommended that I try to repair the OS, so I made that selection with no joy. I went into the bios setup and found that it was no longer setup for my raid 1 drives, so reconfigured. When I did this, I missed setting the SATA 4/5 to IDE and went through the process again of trying to repair the OS. Once again, that did not work.
I went back into the bios and discovered my oversight, fixed it, but the computer still does not recognize my raid drives. The raid bios setup utility still shows a valid array. At this point, my assumption is that it doesn't recognize the array drive because the driver isn't loading, so I've tried to reload the drivers. The motherboard manual only describes how to do this when installing a new operating system and I do not want to lose my programs. Do you have any suggestions?
I have a desktop using a Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 (revision 1) motherboard. Using the Gigabyte @Bios utility, I updated the Bios to F12. After rebooting as @Bios suggested, I can no longer get Windows to boot. I've noted the following:
1) I have issue accesing the Bios setup. Sometimes I can access it, sometimes I cannot;
2) When I am able to access the Bios, I can confirm the disk Boot Priority, however it's is now showing the drives as SCSI (I only have SATA drives);
3) There is a new setup screen displayed after the Gigabyte logo screen shows. This screen now shows 'Serial ATA AHCI, Version iSrc 1.20E.

4. After step 3, it shows the prompt 'Loading Operating System' - the boot hangs at this point.I DID backup the existing Bios before updating it. I have not gone in and copied that file to a floppy to try and flash the Bios using the backup (don't know if this is possible).
For some odd reason, after doing some changes to my partitions in Windows 7 and restarting my computer, I got the ol' "BOOTMGR is missing" message. I have the Windows 7 Repair Disc image file and a 4GB USB Flash Drive, but, sadly, no CDs. Is there any way that I can put the image file onto my USB Flash Drive and boot from it with my Acer Aspire X1200 desktop computer?

View 2 Replies View Relatedi recently got a new SSD and I've installed windows 7 home premium on it. However whenever i boot into my SSD's windows 7, it says that boot manager is missing. In order to boot into windows 7, i would have to change my first boot to my CD, when it asks me to press something to boot cd, i would just leave it. It would then come to a page that allows me to choose from the windows 7 installed on my SSD and the windows 7 installed on my old hard drive.

It all stumbles on the classic "Boot manager missing". Now, the question is, is it possible that this is because the Win 7 CD is faulty, or does anyone have any other solution? View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an HP Pavilion G6-1d40ca. It crashed the other day while I was using it, and when I restarted it, it went to BIOS update. It froze while updating, and died in itself (I think the battery died, it wasn't plugged in. I never knew about BIOS update, so I wasn't expecting for the battery to die during the update, so I didn't plug it in.) Second time, booted it up (it was plugged in this time), and went into BIOS update once again. All's good, was able to use the laptop for about five minutes, then it crashed once again. Now, when I boot it up, nothing comes up on the screen. No nothing. The power button is on, the wi-fi is on, the LED light is blinking non-stop, more than 6 times than what is referred to the HP website.
I tried doing the remove battery and adapter, press power button for 30 seconds, plug it in without the battery, but to no avail. I also did the whole win+B, but doesn't work either. I tried pressing f11, but nothing comes up on the screen. I don't remember where I put the recovery discs that came with the laptop. I thought I put it on the box together with recovery discs for our other computers at home, but I guess I didn't. The thing is, I don't know where to begin, since I don't have anything on the screen itself. Not even a start-up logo or something.
Bootmgr is missing and I've tried every way but reinstalling. I want to reinstall but when it says expanding files it stays on 0 for 30 mins then a error message comes up and I can't reinstall.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI wanted to install more RAM, but Supermicro support told me I needed to update BIOS (flash it) to enable it to accept higher RAM.After I did this, the BIOS seems to have lost the record that boots my Windows 7 installation. After going through the checks, it just comes up with "Operating System not found."So I thought that, since I have two SATA drives, I could try installing Windows on my redundant disk to see if that might generate a dual boot menu.I was able to successfully install a fresh copy of Windows on the 2nd disk, but it will only boot into that one. It seems my system has completely forgotten about my other, working, installation.Is there a process for recovering the boot information and setting it up such that I can go back to using my other installation?

So I have an bit of an odd and I think unique problem (as many searches came up with no solutions). Simply put, my boot manager is missing, but only when my windows install disc is not in the disc drive. It started several months ago and I just left it be, let the disc it int he disc drive and it was not that big of a deal. But just did a clean install couple days ago I re-installed windows 7 ultimate 64-bit on my computer (using an upgrade disc if that makes a difference).I formatted the drive with what I guess is a quick format (the option the install disc gives you). I have tried doing a repair with the install disc but no problems are found every time I try.
