BSOD When Restarting Machine (during Shutdown)
Apr 2, 2012
I've been having problems with my mobile broadband too - it keeps saying that it's not connected. Only happens on this machine. I think the two incidents might somehow be related (they both started happening around the same time).
I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit, retail OS installed early 2011 My original OS was Windows XP Machine was built in 2008, adding a new graphics card in 2011.
PS. I noticed that the System Health Report said I wasn't using anti-virus. I'm currently running AVG Free 2011.

I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium with Service Pack 1 with 4 gig RAM and 64 bit system. When I restart my computer, it tends to take it around 5 to 10 minutes to actually shut down. It sits at the screen saying shutting down, and eventually does but when it starts up, it also tends to take a bit longer than normal and then windows browser gives me an error and restarts itself and then tells me that there was an unexpected shutdown. I've tried glancing for issues to no avail. I've also noticed that sometimes my USB ports stop recognizing devices but usually comes back upon restart. I've tried updating drivers but everything seems to be up to date from what I've seen. I use McAfee antivirus software which hasn't picked up any viruses as well.

My friend recently (in the past month) bought a refurbished Dell computer from Wal-Mart. Everything seems to work fine. The problem she is having with it is that when she does 'shut-down' for the night it randomly restarts. No set amount of time just it restarts. They keep the PC in the bedroom so it wakes them up. We have added nothing which would cause this problem. I went to 'automatic restart after crash' and unchecked it as suggested and that did not work.

My com is running on Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit, and one day I was starting up the com and it took really long to take me to the home screen, so I forced shut down it when the screen was still black (used a no GUI boot). After the restart the message explorer.exe is not responding and it keeps repeating. I've read some other solutions like running the sfc (did it twice) or copy-and-pasting explorer.exe from windows folder to system32 folder all didn't help.

I purchased 64 bit Windows 7 PC a couple of weeks ago. A few times I have found the machine on standby in the morning despite selecting 'shut down' the night before and I've just witnessed it start itself up after completely shutting it down half an hour earlier. It started powering up at midnight exactly not sure if this is coincidence, I've checked the task scheduler but there is nothing scheduled at all in it.

My OS is Windows 7 Ultimate x64 Full Retail.I bought the laptop a year and half ago.The HDD broke down about 2 months ago and I ended up replacing it over the break. After replacing the HDD, I installed Windows 7 a first time and while doing all the Windows updates, I encountered a BSOD after which Windows would not start properly. Fearing defects in the new HDD I installed linux, ran the SMART tool and saw nothing wrong. So I install Windows 7 again a week ago Sunday, and did not do all the updates because I was on slow internet. I just did the Windows update a few hours ago and after restarting this BSOD occurred.

today I was playing minecraft, and the screen just froze, I tried alt+tab, ctrl+alt+del, esc, and all the other keys everyone presses when in panic. But then I realized that nothing would happen and I shut the pc down (I unpluged the energy source).I turned on the pc again, and entered the game again, but the screen blacked out, and I shut it down again. Thinking it had something to do with some bug in my minecraft world, I deleted it and started another one, but again the screen froze and I was forced to shut it down again. At first I thought it was overheat, so I just waited some minutes before turning it on again. When I turned it on, I opened the internet browser (google chrome) and started searching for video cards (at that time I thought that was the problem) but the screen went black again, and this time the computer didn't turn on. On startup, normally the colors are white on black, but it was showing some magenta spots. and after a Blue Screen the pc rebooted and started everything again, asking if I wanted to start windows normally (like it does when you unplug the power source --'), showing BSOD and rebooting. the blue screen showed this:
"a problem has been detected ... windows was shut down... if this is te first time... if problems continue, blah, blah, blah,

I have a Dell laptop, XPS 15, my specs are on the attached file. I used to play Diablo 3 on this laptop, highest settings possible, and it never gave me any problem. Now i quit Diablo and moved to an online game, called Atlantica Online (Atlantica Online), and then the problems started. I guess it's important to say i play this game for a very long time now (3~4 years) and never had any trouble with my old PC (a Quad-core, 4gbs ram, 1gb video), and my brother also play this game on his laptop (a i5, 4gbs ram, onboard video).
When i try to run it on my Dell, first, it started to overheat. I started monitoring my CPU and GPU temperature, and it'd go from 50C/122F (idle) to 90C/194F just a few seconds after I started the game. To solve this problem, everytime I run the game, I run this app: ThrottleStop (ThrottleStop - Performance Adjustment Tool for Core 2 / Core i CPUs) so i can 'underclock' my CPU to 75% and turn off the Turbo feature of my i7 (Note: I also tried to run the game without underclocking my CPU and it restarted anyway).
When the problem occurs, screen goes blue, sometimes purple, there are some squares, like a chess board, it's all messed up. I see the mouse still works (it moves a big square when i move the mouse) and keyboard still works aswell (capslock light). But if i try to press any button, the computer will freeze and i have to hard reset it. I really like this game (it's the only one i play actually, but if it's the game's fault, i'll stop it, just want to be sure).

I just put together this computer on the 2nd and since then I've blue screened 9 times. I've done some research and all the drivers are up to date, to the best of my knowledge, and I have installed all the updates from Windows Updates? I'm not sure what to try next.I downloaded the 'SF Diag Tool' and have attached both the minidump and the system information.

I usually have to boot my machine twice. I boot the first time, log into my (domain) account, and once windows loads, I get a BSOD. After that, if I reboot, the system works all day.
This happens if I'm bringing it out of sleep or hibernate too, but it has to be inactive for a few hours for it to give a BSOD.
I am running a Dell Latitude D620.
Windows 7 Pro 32 bit (fully licensed)
4 GB RAM
Intel T2500 2.00 GHz processor
Joined to a domain
Attached is the BSOD reports requested.

I have a workstation that I just setup and the user is reporting BSODs on the system randomly. I've done all the standards stuff:
- Updated to the newest drivers from the vendor's web site
- Removed and reinstalled anti-virus
- Run chkdsk on the system volume
- Ran memtest86
- Looked into the bugchecks that came up. They are all event id 1001, but the bug check seems to change almost every time. I've noted bugchecks 3b, 0a, 7f, c4, 24, 101, 1a, 1e, 7e, and 4e. I didn't see anything promising, but I'm not exactly sure what to look for.
System is:
-Windows 7 pro 64-bit
-OEM install
-Compaq 100B SFF PC (Adina)
-AMD E-350 Processor @ 1.60Ghz
-4GB RAM
While it's an older system, we bought it new recently from tigerdirect. Guessing it was overstock. It's perfect for our simple needs on this workstation as far as power goes. Just need to resolve the BSOD issue. BTW, the other unit that is exactly the same does not have any problems.I have an exact match to this system, so I'm going to swap the hard disks between the functioning system and the one with BSOD problems. Once I note where the BSOD ends up, I'll have a better idea whether it's h/w or s/w. I'll post the information, but it is doing a BSOD every couple of days, so it may be a bit.

My problem is on a Media Center machine where I recently upgraded Motherboard and processor. I have the following setup on the machine:
MB: Asus P8H77-MLE
CPU: Intel i3 2120
2x2 GB Kingston ram
OCZ Agility 3 SSD 120 GB
1,5 TB WD Caviar Green
Asus P7131 Tuner
TERRATEC Cinergy DT USB XS Diversity
Hauppauge! WinTV-NOVA-T-Stick-Diversity
Hauppauge! Smart CI USB
My previous setup was with a AMD 240e. I use Microsoft Security Essentials for antivirus and have firewall turned on. The Media Center machine is on for 24/7 on sleep mode for recordings or turned on for showing recordings. Since the upgrade I have BSOD most times after it is turned on after sleep. The STOP occurs 4-5 minutes after the wake up either the wake up is initiated from a recording or from user. I even see BSOD occur in the middle of the night where I have no recordings or other activity. I have made several new install and tried to exclude the SSD and install a 32 bit Win7 - but the BSOD still occurs 4-5 min after awake.

I am experiencing issues with my ASUS graphics card and my Intel HD display driver. Whenever I am playing a videogame or doing something that is graphics intensive, my display freezes and I either have to reboot my machine or sometimes the display unfreezes and I am allowed to resume my activities. I originally had graphics driver 295.73, but I upgraded to version 296.10 when it came out. I still had the same issue when I upgraded my driver so I rolled back to version 295.73. I kept bouncing back and forth between the two drivers and I even tried going into safe mode to install the drivers. Twice while I was using AutoCAD and playing a videogame, the display became distorted and showed pixelated colors.
I installed the 301.24 driver when it came out on May 22nd, but the problem occurred again while I was playing a game and while I was in AutoCAD. In the rare instances that my display froze and unfroze, I received a windows notification from the windows event log stating that my driver 295.73, 296.10, or 301.24 failed. I have performed numerous diagnostics and stress tests using Ultimate Boot CD. My memory tests have checked out fine and so have my hdd and ssd tests. The only thing that sticks out is that my southbridge temperature, my CPUTIN according to HWMonitor, is at a constant 60 degrees. It never changes or fluctuates.

Lately I have been experiencing a BSOD when I shutdown my laptop. The computer tries to shutdown for about 5-10 minutes before finally blue screening with a RIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE error. This problem does not occur every time I shutdown my laptop, but it seems that the longer my computer is on, the more likely it is to blue screen on shutdown. The problem may be caused by driver for either my external monitor, keyboard, or printer, as the BSOD never occurred when I was using my laptop without them attached a few weeks agFrom what I can tell after searching the problem, I likely need to update some driver, but I have no idea which driver(s) are causing the problem. I have included the Minidumps, and I believe all of them are for different occurrences of the same problem
