BSOD On Shutdown - DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE?

Jan 16, 2012

Lately I have been experiencing a BSOD when I shutdown my laptop. The computer tries to shutdown for about 5-10 minutes before finally blue screening with a RIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE error. This problem does not occur every time I shutdown my laptop, but it seems that the longer my computer is on, the more likely it is to blue screen on shutdown. The problem may be caused by driver for either my external monitor, keyboard, or printer, as the BSOD never occurred when I was using my laptop without them attached a few weeks agFrom what I can tell after searching the problem, I likely need to update some driver, but I have no idea which driver(s) are causing the problem. I have included the Minidumps, and I believe all of them are for different occurrences of the same problem

BSOD After Long Period Of Shutdown On Startup, Random Power Shut Off

Dec 12, 2011

My computer gets at least ONCE BSOD every time I turn it on after a long period of shutdown. It also sometimes randomly just shuts off or give me additional BSODs. It has got to the point that I can't even load to windows recently, which lead me to reformat my computer. I know the drivers here are not the latest ones, I am trying to use only the drivers from the CDs that came with the hardwares because the last time I used all the latest ones it still caused BSODs. I am not sure what other information I need to post up.

Windows 7 Ultimate x64 - fresh reformat
ASUS M4A77TD Pro
AMD Athlon II X4 635 2.9Ghz Socket AM3 95W
Crucial 4GB DDR3-1333 (PC 10600) MT16JTF51264AZ-1G4H1 (It's a 2x 4GB set, but I'm just using once at the moment to filter out problems)
SAPPHIRE Vapor-X Radeon HD 4850 1GB 156-bit GDDR3

BSOD: Driver_Power_State_Failure

Apr 3, 2012

Attached: VizulizeBSOD.zip(Dump Files and PERFMON Report)I recently (about a week ago) reinstalled Windows 7 Professional 64 bit onto my computer (retail version), as I was not making good usage of my SSD boot drive. As far as I am aware, all of my drivers are fully up-to-date (I used the latest "DriverPack Solution").I am not in my typical environment, and am using a different monitor to what I would be at home (which is HDMI) - though I doubt this will be affecting anything.Everything in the computer except a couple of the hard drives is about a year old.

BSOD Driver_power_state_failure Every 1-2 Days

Apr 8, 2012

I've had a Dell Laptop (l502x) with Windows 7 Premium 64 Bit for almost a year now. It's a great thing, except for one thing: i get about 1 BSOD every 1-2 days.As it happens only once every other day, i almost got used to it, but now it's starting to get on my nerves and I'm wondering what is causing it, as they are totally random. On the Dell support website they told me to try the Windows Debugging Tool, which then showed me it had to do with wwussf64.sys. According to some dubious 'anti-virus' sites on the internet this was linked to some Ericsson software, although i don't have any.Might be interesting to know, when they delivered the laptop in 2011, the backlit keyboard was not working, and they had to replace the keyboard and motherboard twice to get it working.

BSOD While System Idle, 0x0000009F Driver_Power_State_Failure

Apr 4, 2012

I've been getting random BSODs over the past several months. The latest is the one listed in the thread title, but I've also had the following:

- Kernel_Data_Inpage_Error, 0x0000007A

- Page_Fault_In_Nonpaged_Area, 0x00000050

- A process or thread crucial to system operation has unexpectedly exited, 0x000000F4

Whenever I get one of these, it also gives the additional error "Physical memory dump Failed with status 0xC0000010"I've seen about a dozen BSODs in the past 12 months with these four errors, and I think all of them have been while I had left the computer idle for various amounts of time (never more than a few hours).I built this computer from the ground up with all new components a year ago and have been running Win 7 Ultimate x64, no re-installs.

Cannot Shutdown Also Long Start Up When Booting

Jul 6, 2011

- Running windows 7 home premium
- Latest windows 7 updates

Some extra information - when my wireless signal for the wireless keyboard goes out (randomly), the usb port (usb extension) stops working for that port, however if you take it out and replug, still doesn't work.
only way to "fix" this is by force restarting by turning it off with the power button (I can't even shutdown because it hangs there anyways).

I'm not sure what it could be, whether its new windows update, or new applications I installed (well, I don't really install many new apps, and i have roughly the same things I did when I first got my laptop). Its literally impossible to shutdown it successfully (well i never decide to wait ages, but if the laptop doesn't shut down in a few mins, something has to be wrong) - same applies to the restart, both doesn't work unless I force it with the power button.

Here's an example below:
Windows has shutdown:
Shutdown Duration : 19478ms
IsDegradation : false
Incident Time (UTC) : 05T16:35:07.937364300Z

Some of the applications I use are trivial (like trillian, skype, steam, etc) and i've had all these programs before and it was fine, able to shut down and so on.

This problem started about 2 months ago. Windows takes a long time to shut down, at least 5 minutes. Sometimes it doesn't shut down and reboots.Every shuts down normally, then the grey screen "SHUTTING DOWN" just seems to hang.On one recommendation I updated the BIOS, that didn't seem to work.I scanned in safe mode with Malware Bytes Anti Malware and the computer is clean. I use AVAST antivirus.

Windows 7 Pro Long Shutdown Can't Find Issue?

Jan 11, 2012

For the last 2 days i have been trying to diagnose why my PC is taking anything between 1min 30sec and 3min to shutdown.I found that if i booted into my desktop (fully loaded) then shut down, my shutdown time is between 9 and 12 seconds! However if i boot into desktop then use any program or game, then i had the long shutdown time.Event log showed the ShutdownKernelTime to be between 120000 and 150000 when i had the long shutdowns. For your info, for testing purposes the programs i used are firefox 10.0 (opening 3 websites) and Windows Live Mail. IF for any reason i got a successful quick shutdown after running these i then ran GTA IV for 5min then tried a shutdown. So far i have tried: Disabling all services and startup entries in msconfig. Got same results as above Various combinations of service and startup entries in msconfig. Same result as above Booting into safe mode running same test. I get a successful quick shutdown. Checked the registry for any page file clearing at shutdown. Complete disk defrag Advanced System Care 5 Scan and repair Updating any drivers if update available Running a shutdown trace using Windows SDK. This however works by restarting the PC then running the trace so imitates me booting in to desktop and shutdown again which works fine so as expected the trace shows everything working as it should. I tried adding firefox and Windows live mail to startup folder hoping just the simple opening of these programs would cause whatever happens to give me a long shutdown time. It seems though like i need to open the 3 websites to create the issue however the only time to do this would be the delayed shutdown stage which im advised you shouldn't touch anything at this stage? could anyone advise on this? Hopefully one of you's out there with a bit more knowledge can point me in a new direction that puts me closer to solving this.I used to have Ntune (Nvidia) for GPU Fan control and MSI Afterburner for GPU Overlocking, however after trying one after the other enabled/disabled etc i found i got successful quick shutdowns but long shutdown then returned after playing GTA IV. I uninstalled MSI Afterburner and now only use Ntune for both GPU Overcloking and Fan Control. Current Startup's enabled:Realtek HD Audio Manager RocketDock NVIDIA Ntune Avast Antivirus Quote Originally Posted by whs In regedit, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControl Double click on WaitToKillServiceTimeout and set it to 2000 - that is milliseconds. Long Shutdown Times Windows 7 64bit Enterprise

Aug 21, 2011

my new windows install has suddenly started to take several minutes to shutdown. I only had a few programs installed when this started. I un-installed each program and did a registry clean to see if any of them was causing the issue, but nothing helped. All that are now installed are the motherboard drivers and such.

This is a list of what is still installed:

Etron USB3.0 Controler
Intel Control Center
Intel HD Graphics Driver
Intel Management Engine
Intel Rapid Storage
Realtek Ethernet
Realtek Audio Driver

I have gone through some things to try to determine what is causing the issue, but have had no success. I checked the shutdown performance logs, and there were allot of warnings. These just seemed to give the shutdown time, but no indication of what was causing the delay. This issue did not exist when I first installed. The computer has no internet connection at the moment, so I have not done windows update or anything like that. There is no possibility of their being a virus for the same reason. Before uninstalling the apps, I tried msconfig with selective startup (all boxes unchecked), and diagnostic startup and neither reduces the shutdown time.

Spoolsv.exe Taking Long To Shutdown/ System Restore 'broken'?

Feb 13, 2011

Someone read my shutdown log and told me this.shutdownProcess name="spoolsv.exe" shutdownStartTime="4908" shutdownEndTime="24938" processEndTime="-1" shutdownDuration="20029"My shutdown went from 10 seconds to 30 seconds after I installed my printer's drivers from the disc it came with. He told me to get rid of the driver and install the newer ones from the HP website, but after I uninstalled the printer and it's drivers the shutdown still dragged even when the printer wasn't installed. I went ahead and got the newest driver and the problem still remains.I tried to do a system restore to before I installed the printer, but I kept getting this error message. I tried it again in safe mode too, but to the same result. Here's the error message.can I fix the system restore or just get rid of this service so I can replace it with the newer driver's one?

BSOD And Chkdsk Won't Run Now (very Long)

May 7, 2012

1.For the past week been having issue with rpcnet.exe or something like that..i think it's a file that is included with dell lojack but I never paid for it so don't know why it's there. My Anvir program said new startup program with rpcnet was trying to load and I hit quarantine or delete every boot up. it seemed to appear every time I rebooted for days then and then just disappeared after a few more days

2.Being worried, I downloaded at least 3 other malware programs and ran them...no issues...

3.Last week updated to zonealarm 10.2 from 10.1. it now includes antivirus so I had to disable it because I use essentials...it took a reboot to 'take' but the antivirus did remain off then

4.As I told you before, that malwarebyte program was apparently doing more than ZA but I decided not to use it for real time protection and disabled it. All manual scans showed all ok

5.Thinking comodo may be a better firewall that ZA, I installed it yesterday morning. It installed ok but then crashed upon reboot to complete the install

6.In safe mode I tried to do system restore and it said C disk structure error and would I like to run chkdisk upon reboot..yes!

7.For the next few hours I tried every trick I could...wouldn't do a chkdsk..tried last good known configuration upon boot, tried the command prompt as an administrator..did chkdsk /f and /r and even one other one..never ran..ever..not even on reboot. Thing is I could stay in safe mode and surf the web and try to find answers with no worries..no errors at all. But when I rebooted, BSOD..the error codes I got lead to some sort of disk error..i couldn't defrag nor chkdsk. Heck the C drive still to this day doesnst show up as being able to be defragged but I only have 2 gigs of memory left on the machine so it probably cant be?

8.I uninstalled comodo with a generic uninstaller but since it crashed after I installed it, I thought comodo was the problem
9.I decided to do msconfig and then uncheck a bunch of things starting up..i unchecked so many when I rebooted it actually did work and boot OK! I also meanwhile uninstalled ZA to rule that out as an issue.

10.When I booted up, Anvir asked me about 75 things starting up with the machine, I saw most were Microsoft but got tired of hitting ACCEPT after about 30. So left the rest turned off for now.

11.Reinstalled ZA 10.2 and got immediate BSOD upon completion of install. I'm assuming this means it wasn't my other programs at and it just coincidentally worked because I deleted ZA and then unchecked startup items at the same time.

12.Went to safe mode and removed ZA

13.Reinstalled ZA 10.1 and got immediate BSOD

14.Deleted ZA and all works well. It HAS to be ZA that is the issue..correct?

15.Still cannot run chkdsk but the C drive does show up under the disk management screen

16.I also ran some other scan (SFS file check??) and that said was errors but I cant fix them since no chkdsk The machine seems to be back to "normal" now, I have just windows firewall on plus essentials antivirus. But I do want another firewall. I just think something is really fishy that I cannot run chkdsk and confirm the disk is ok. I cant find my dell windows 7 recovery disk but I have a full XP disk and tried to run it to get to recovery console but I got a BSOD with that disk and never got into it even. So any ideas what would prevent chkdsk from running even though I hit yes when it asks me to do it upon reboot? I cannot get over the nagging feeling something else is wrong here. one time I did get something about a dirty 'something' being set on the machine so I'm not sure if that's whats preventing me from running chkdisk.

BSOD Only After Long Time Without Power Supply, 0x0000001E

Nov 16, 2011

If the computer is shut down and disconnected from the power supply for about 5 hours or longer I get a bluescreen right after the windows boot screen. Otherwise it starts without problems and works fine. My workaround for the problem after long shut down is to switch on the power supply, then immediately switch it off and then on again. This works always fine!
