BSOD - New And Powerful Computer - Possibly Related To Audio Drivers?
Jun 18, 2012
the first time it bsoded it gave a 'problem with hardware' error which made me really scared. at that time i forgot to turn enable minidumps, so i couldnt post here for help. since then i have gotten a bsod once more with minidump enabled? also, i am using the nvidia geforce 560ti.. and the latest nvidia drivers cause my computer to freeze up occasionally when i watch Internet videos. the Internet video will turn black with pink lines and my computer would freeze up. apparently some others have been having the same problem.
computer specs:
i5 2500k non overclocked
8 gig ram
geforce 560ti
windows 7 professional 64 bit

Will Windows 7 run smoothly on a non-powerful computer?
what if a PC has this:
Intel Pentium 4, 3.00GHz
512mb DDR2 RAM
98mb Intel Extreme Graphics
80GB Hard Disk
I've tried Windows Vista Ultimate on this computer, and it runs fine but without it's Windows Aero Interface. I also experience problems running games and different programs on it. I've heard that Windows 7 is lighter than Vista, so will Windows 7 run smoothly on this computer?

I've experienced 2 BSOD's today, both within 30 minutes of turning on the computer. I was doing nothing extraordinary either time, just browsing the web (in fact, the second time I was getting ready to post this). The blue screen flashed too quickly but I think it was stop error 116 and the file was ati something .sys. I suspect gfx card because of this. I've attached all the dump information.
OS is OEM, reinstalled 1 year ago. Mobo, CPU, RAM, secondary HDD are 2.5 years old. SSD (boot drive) is 1 year old. Gfx card, PSU are 6 months old. Other maybe useful info about the gfx card is that it has been behaving strangely before. Last week and other times, Windows Aero would suddenly turn off, and the gfx temperature would rise ~5-10C and fan would go crazy. Rebooting fixed this, at least temporarily.

i recently bought a new computer with an installed Win7HomePremium. It is fairly good and these are a few of the properties:
-Intel i3 540
-4GB memory
-32bit OS
I was wondering what programs you can suggest me, I'm getting mixed messaged from all kinds of people on what software i should(n't) download and its getting annoying. So a general question could be what programs u suggest me to use in order to keep my computer swift and powerful and without viruses? It should be noted that the person who recomended these to me has a computer since 2003 which she uses the progs to clean it every 2-3 days. And it's working great, or so she says.So in addition it could be awesome if anyone can give me ONE answer instead of the mixed opinions - whether or not should i clean my computer by running such software and if so which ones and how often? Also is it true that IE is regarded as a problematic browser? I switched to Chrome without erasing IE and so far it's fairly good (except for random slow downs and sites not opening , and especially having trouble being on facebook too long )One more question that i believe , out of anyone, you can help with: By default, the folders are presented in list-like formation and it's kinda tiring going over every folder and ordering them differently. Can I do anything to make all of the folders sort in a different way? and possibly one of the more important ones - my technician told me that if i were to format my PC, and i'd have at that point over 200GB taken (out of the 500 i have ), the computer will erase some of MY files as well. If that is true - that's completely stupid. Is it ? And if so what should i do? (have one partition)BTW I often see all kinds of short versions of words here, like BSOD, SSD, UAC and what not. It would be very nice of you, considering many of the readers don't know these terms, to simply write the full word. It doesn't take much time.

I've been getting a BSOD sometimes on start up or shortly after. I've used the debugger to check the dump file and the driver that would appear to be faulty is dtsoftbus01 which from what I read is daemon tools. I had daemon tools on this computer at one point in time but I've since reformatted my hard drive so daemon tools shouldn't still be installed.

My computer with Windows 7 Home Edition x64 has been getting frequent BSOD as well as being super slow and unresponsive. I have attached a copy of the recent dump files hoping to find anything out as to why this is happening.

So, I'm working on this .bat script.I'm using NOTEPAD to edit from command prompt.I ALT-F, ALT-S to save and ALT-F and ALT-X to exit. Then run my script.I ALT-F after almost every line I change (very anal). Make a few changes, exit NOTEPAD and rerun the script. After half a dozen changes/ tests, I go back into the .bat script and it is NOW back to what it practically was when I started. TWO whole sections of code (non- contiguous) are missing from it. Part of a FOR /F loop was cut off.I haven't had a computer error in a heck of a long time.

I recently build a new Sandy Bridge computer to replace an older Conroe system. The new build retained the SSD (OS and programs) drive and the SATA data drives along with the existing Windows 7/64HP installation.I built an Asus P8Z68V Pro with an Intel i5-2500k and DDR3-1333 ram (12GB). I did not reinstall Windows 7/64HP. I had to tweak a few programs that had an issue with my substitute hardware, but otherwise it seems to run fine. However, I've had some crazy BSODs that seem to tie into grmnusb.sys. Yesterday I had 3 BSODs in a row that would happen as soon as I plugged in my Garmin Edge 305. The first happened while I was OCed. I rebooted and changed to default BIOS settings. Another BSOD when I reconnected the 305. So I uninstalled the Garmin USB driver and rebooted. Another BSOD when I connected the 305.I finally just left the Edge 305 connected and rebooted the computer and it came up ok and let me access the data on the device in a normal manner. And yet on the same system, I've had a number of times I've plugged the Garmin device in with no issues at all. When I first built the box (a couple of weeks ago) I had a BSOD from the Edge 305 connection, again with the gmnusb.sys tie-in. I rebooted, uninstalled the affected usb driver and all was ok for a time. And then the Garmin didn't want to connect so I re-installed the Garmin usb driver and all was well for a time.. and then, here we go again. Before I go though the routine of uploading the BSOD jcgriff zip files, I want to see if this is a known issue related to Z68 boards, or perhaps because I didn't re-install Windows 7 for the new hardware or if it's because computers just don't like me for some reason.

I've been having some serious trouble with my computer and CTD's and BSOD's related to what im fairly certain is something to do with my graphics card.
Long story short I've had repeated Service Exception BSOD'd for the past 2-3 weeks. In that amount of time I've run memtest to see if maybe my memory was to blame but that turned up nothing. I used driver sweeper to remove my nvidia drivers and put a fresh install on, and yet it still crashes.
I'm at my wits end here, normally its simply a matter of bad memory or a bad driver, but with this I have no clue what to do.

XP 32 bit. Has since had the drive reformatted. The Operating System was a student upgrade version but is now a full retail version (I called Microsoft Support a while back)System is approximately 1 and a half years old (Graphics card only seven months) It is self-built.OS is seven months old. I reinstalled the OS MORE TIMES THAN I CAN COUNT (whatmpted me to call MS) but the BSODs persisted.AMD Phenom II X2 555 Black EditionXFX Radeon 6870 1GBASUS M4A88T-M AM3 AMD 880G XFX 550W Core Editionrus Software: Malware Bytes Anti-Malware AND MSE OFCCPU-Z Validator 3.1(For a little more information)I was receiving constant blue screens throughout the month of December, and after having replaced my HDD and RAM (which didn't fix the problem) I RMA'd my processor back to AMD. I received the new processor in early January and went a full month without any problems. As of a few days ago the bluescreens have returned in full force. At this point I'm thinking it's a problem with the motherboard. But I'm posting here to make sure before I try to RMA something again. While I wait for a reply I will run memtest and a HDD diagnostic.EDIT: Also, I think it's worth noting that motherboard does not seem to be able to provide a steady current to the Vcore. If I set the Vcore to 1.35, it will fluctuate between 1.32-1.35.

i'm having issues with my Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit PC. Every so often it will just BSOD on me. I've had a look at the errors and it mentions MEMORY_MANAGEMENT and ntoskrnl.exe, but i don't really know what i'm doing so i figured i'd get some REAL help. I've recently installed new graphic drivers, hoping that might help but it just crashed on me again.Windows was pre installed on the machine and the machine itself is only a year old.

Like the title above says i need something more powerful than the xfx radei HD 4850 1GB but not to expensive, Sure it still chugs a long fine but lacks newer dx features, I only payed $130 when i bought that card a cpl years ago but I'm looking for something cheaper than can beat it in performance. That and ati just put that card in legacy support Model HD-485X-ZDFC rev.2.1 if you all want to look up the specs has double lifetime warranty one of the reason i bought it, Had it replace by xfx once when capacitors started leaking in an older revision of the card.

Ok, had some old parts lying around and built an HTPC with them, it is for streaming media, Blu ray and recording over the air hdtv signals. It is an Intel Pentium Dual core e6200, 4gb of ddr2 at 800mhz, 500gb wd 7200rpm as boot drive and 2tb wd green as data drive, Samsung blu ray drive, a RADEON hd 5650 1GB and it is all in a Silverstone gd-05. The blu ray drive came with cyberlink powerdvd 9 to play blu ray and every time I try and play a movie it crashes the software. When I ran the blu ray advisor it says the video card isn't fast enough. Is cyberlink lying or the software just that crappy?

Yesterday when I got home I could not get my headset working on my PC. It's a USB headset (Tritton AX720) but it works perfectly on my Xbox 360. There is sound coming from the headset but it is really quiet. My speakers to my computer work fine, it's just when I plug the headset in I'm not getting sound. I was working on it for about an hour last night and I can't figure out what is wrong with it. So far I've tried to make it my default audio device, I did a system restore to a few days ago, and messed with the setting a little bit. This headset has worked on my PC for about 6-8 months up until yesterday. By the way my audio for my computer is still working perfectly. It is only when I plug my headset in that it isn't working properly. I'm completely lost on what is wrong.

I've been having some frustrating issues with Windows Explorer (on Windows 7), and I've pinpointed the cause to one stubborn wmv file on my external hard drive.Whenever Explorer accesses the location of this wmv file (unfortunately the root directory), the green bar at the top starts slowly running, presumably trying to load the thumbnail of that wmv file. This wreaks havoc everywhere, as any other folders I navigate to then have missing thumbnails that will not load... and when I go to "Computer", it's completely empty and the green bar atop runs indefinitely, but never makes any progress... only heating my computer frustratingly.Furthermore, when I restart explorer, the error "the remove procedure call failed" shows. Logging off or pressing Ctrl+N in explorer have provided temporary solutions so far.

About 3 weeks ago, I was using a public WIFI connection. *something* went wrong, my computer froze up, and ever since, my system icons have been disabled and I can only connect to my home WIFI connection - by going to the control panel and manually connecting. Since I no longer have my connectivity icon, I can not view the available networks, and therefore cannot select one to connect to. Only my home WIFI connection works. This is bad, since I will be moving soon and leaving my home network. I have tried every tutorial I have found.....my last resort would be reinstalling the OS...but I'm not even sure that would work. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium.

I'm running Windows 7 32 bit and I just noticed that all my drivers for the USB controllers, Audio/Sound devices and the Networking internet (Broadcom Netxtreme Drivers) have all died. They indicate that a Code 39 is the problem. I tried to load some of the drivers but it wouldn't allow them to install. I did a last known configuration attempt, no results. Did a system restore and it gave me an error message saying it didn't restore properly. I am trying to get the drivers online, burn them to a disk and load them. I have no internet access on that PC and the USB ports obviously don't work. I can get drivers on this PC online. Some I can't find. I did the uninstall driver, disable, all the usual for this problem. I am stumped. Any recovery attempts produce nil results. Thanks to Microsoft, I have no installation disc to do a new install or a backup image.

I started getting BSOD two weeks ago. As far as I can remember the first time I had a BSOD was on the day I installed Max Payne 3 (I read somewhere that the some guy had also this problem when he installed max payne). There were two occasions that I got a BSOD upon starting Max Payne 3. But lately I'm getting BSOD when doing low-load stuffs like browsing with no other apps opened. I've already done memtest with 10 passes with no errors. I'm 24 hours prime95 stable. I just don't get it! I've manually set my timings for my ram. I'm not doing any overclock. Everything is on stock settings.

So to make this story some what short, I installed Windows 7, it kinda hung on installing the creative sound blaster driver so I assumed it was an audio driver issue from the beginning. After a reboot my sound would always make snap crackle pop / static noises and what not. Totally maddening when you watch tons of stuff online / play games / listen to music.
Strange thing whenever I booted into safemode w/ networking my driver for the sound blaster card would always install first thing no problem. Still, tons of static and the like in the background. The main issue, any reboot would give me a bsod to no end unless I booted in safemode, then there was no issue. Disabled different sound cards until I found out it was the Realtek card. Then I checked out the control panel and there was a driver for realtek, sure enough if I uninstalled and rebooted without going into safemode I NEVER got a bsod. Happy days.
Then I thought I had fixed the static issue but so far I have not. I'm using a creative sound blaster audigy 2 zs card. I've installed the latest beta driver for it(when I thought I had fixed it) to no avail. Sorry it ended up being extremely long :P Sadly, none of this happened in XP, but im blaming it all on the drivers.

Today I noticed all my audio-devices in the audio menu were gone except for my USB Headset, I have my speakers connected with a normal cable and these did not show up. I checked my device manager and indeed it showed yellow exclamation marks on the Realtek high definition audio and AMD HD audio drivers. Strange, so I installed the newest realtek drivers, and at the end of the installation this caused a "ks.sys error" blue screen. Trying to reinstall the drivers in safe mode works fine, but when logging back into windows I get the blue screen. I can use windows just fine with my headset plugged in, but I'd like to be able to use my speakers again.

I bought a new Dell XPS laptop about 2 months ago (I have filled out the system specs info on my profile here). I bought the laptop predominantly to use for making music, and also bought an external soundcard - Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6, which is a USB 2 device. The laptop has two USB 3 sockets and a USB/SATA socket as well. I had great difficulty getting the Komplete Audio 6 to work with the laptop, as I was unable to load the drivers using the USB 3 sockets (wouldn't recognise USB 2 for some reason). I eventually got it working by using the USB/SATA socket instead, which it is currently plugged into via a USB hub (along with my optical mouse). I was advised by other Komplete Audio 6 users to use a USB hub to avoid damaging the laptop. I also have a Yamaha midi keyboard plugged into one of the USB 2 sockets.
My problem is that I am getting regular Blue Screens, sometimes after a period of inactivity, though I cannot say 100% what triggers them. I am running Microsoft Security Essentials, and Spyware Blaster as antivirus programs. I've read the instructions on submitting BSOD files, and have attached mine here.
