BSOD Related To Garmin USB Driver?
Nov 16, 2011
I recently build a new Sandy Bridge computer to replace an older Conroe system. The new build retained the SSD (OS and programs) drive and the SATA data drives along with the existing Windows 7/64HP installation.I built an Asus P8Z68V Pro with an Intel i5-2500k and DDR3-1333 ram (12GB). I did not reinstall Windows 7/64HP. I had to tweak a few programs that had an issue with my substitute hardware, but otherwise it seems to run fine. However, I've had some crazy BSODs that seem to tie into grmnusb.sys. Yesterday I had 3 BSODs in a row that would happen as soon as I plugged in my Garmin Edge 305. The first happened while I was OCed. I rebooted and changed to default BIOS settings. Another BSOD when I reconnected the 305. So I uninstalled the Garmin USB driver and rebooted. Another BSOD when I connected the 305.I finally just left the Edge 305 connected and rebooted the computer and it came up ok and let me access the data on the device in a normal manner. And yet on the same system, I've had a number of times I've plugged the Garmin device in with no issues at all. When I first built the box (a couple of weeks ago) I had a BSOD from the Edge 305 connection, again with the gmnusb.sys tie-in. I rebooted, uninstalled the affected usb driver and all was ok for a time. And then the Garmin didn't want to connect so I re-installed the Garmin usb driver and all was well for a time.. and then, here we go again. Before I go though the routine of uploading the BSOD jcgriff zip files, I want to see if this is a known issue related to Z68 boards, or perhaps because I didn't re-install Windows 7 for the new hardware or if it's because computers just don't like me for some reason.

I've been having some serious trouble with my computer and CTD's and BSOD's related to what im fairly certain is something to do with my graphics card.
Long story short I've had repeated Service Exception BSOD'd for the past 2-3 weeks. In that amount of time I've run memtest to see if maybe my memory was to blame but that turned up nothing. I used driver sweeper to remove my nvidia drivers and put a fresh install on, and yet it still crashes.
I'm at my wits end here, normally its simply a matter of bad memory or a bad driver, but with this I have no clue what to do.

XP 32 bit. Has since had the drive reformatted. The Operating System was a student upgrade version but is now a full retail version (I called Microsoft Support a while back)System is approximately 1 and a half years old (Graphics card only seven months) It is self-built.OS is seven months old. I reinstalled the OS MORE TIMES THAN I CAN COUNT (whatmpted me to call MS) but the BSODs persisted.AMD Phenom II X2 555 Black EditionXFX Radeon 6870 1GBASUS M4A88T-M AM3 AMD 880G XFX 550W Core Editionrus Software: Malware Bytes Anti-Malware AND MSE OFCCPU-Z Validator 3.1(For a little more information)I was receiving constant blue screens throughout the month of December, and after having replaced my HDD and RAM (which didn't fix the problem) I RMA'd my processor back to AMD. I received the new processor in early January and went a full month without any problems. As of a few days ago the bluescreens have returned in full force. At this point I'm thinking it's a problem with the motherboard. But I'm posting here to make sure before I try to RMA something again. While I wait for a reply I will run memtest and a HDD diagnostic.EDIT: Also, I think it's worth noting that motherboard does not seem to be able to provide a steady current to the Vcore. If I set the Vcore to 1.35, it will fluctuate between 1.32-1.35.

i'm having issues with my Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit PC. Every so often it will just BSOD on me. I've had a look at the errors and it mentions MEMORY_MANAGEMENT and ntoskrnl.exe, but i don't really know what i'm doing so i figured i'd get some REAL help. I've recently installed new graphic drivers, hoping that might help but it just crashed on me again.Windows was pre installed on the machine and the machine itself is only a year old.

I'm getting some occasional flickering in Windows 7 Media Center 64-bit. The flickering only occurs when the NVIDIA control panel is set to control video color settings and Dynamic Range is set to Full (0-255). This setting can be found as such:
NVIDIA Control Panel->Video & Television->Adjust video color settings->With the NVIDIA settings->Advanced->Dynamic Range->Full (0-255).
Without this setting, the drivers apparently default to the limited (16-235) color range, which results in noticeably washed out video with poor contrast and incorrect black/white levels. The flickering appears to be between the full and limited ranges, as if the drivers are doing one thing and the player doing another. Or something.
Also what is strange is that it doesn't happen all the time. Most often it occurs during commercials, whereas the main broadcast might be unaffected -- but that's not always the case. Haven't figured out what triggers it yet.
Anyone else run into this or have any ideas?

I have several internal card readers for my desktop computer. Two are Rosewill brand from NewEgg and one is RocketFish from BestBuy. They are all of the type that read SDHC, CF and a host of other cards and also have a USB port for a flash drive. They all connect to main board dual-port headers. For no reason apparent to me, the card readers still read USB flash drives but do not even acknowledge any flash memory cards at all in any manner. It is as though I did not insert one at all. I researched the 'net and found some things to try (registry edits, scanning for malware, disconnecting the power cord for several hours, etc.etc.); but, after several hours of troubleshooting, I decided I had three bad card readers. In a last act of desperation, I restored the OS to an Acronis image I made several months back and now the card readers function flawlessly,So, where in Windows 7 can I begin to look for a cause/solution to this kind of problem if it happens again? It probably will happen again as I already have an XP system where the problem has popped up with these same card readers.Additional Info: I have an external reader that functioned fine on the same systems on which the internal readers did not work.

I've recently reinstalled Windows 7 (32-bit Ultimate). It seems there is some problem with 3D stuff on any OS I try. After the setup, when it was checking the video performance it crashed as well. And now every time I try to run that program which gives you system's rating in Windows 7 it crashes within a few seconds (on Running Direct3D Aero Assessment). If I try to play any games it crashes almost immediately as well but other than that everything seems to be working perfectly fine. I can watch movies and browse the internet on Chrome for hours (weirdly it crashes on Firefox after some time...) I had the same problem on Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and Windows Vista Home Premium x32 as well... And all Event Viewer is showing is that ID 41 Error which doesn't really tell anything. :/ Before all these Vista and Windows 7 installations I used Windows XP and it seemed to be working pretty good but it would crash on certain games too.
I've tried changing back to XP but everytime I try to install it I get a BSOD telling me to run checkdisk (I've used 2 different CDs to try and install it because I thought maybe some files on my CD were corrupt or something but I got the same BSOD). I ran chkdsk and it didn't find any problems. I'm not really good with computers scomputer specs:Intel Core Duo 2.20GhzATI Mobility Radeon HD 45704GB RAMWindows 7 Ultimate 32-Bit

If in msconfig, the power service is enabled at bootup, I get sound but every browser crashes with the flash plugin and other problems don't work properly, some don't even launch.
But if I disable the Power service, I get no crashes but the sound is gone and I get a little x in the audio icon.
What can I do? I restored BIOS settings to default and messed around with many things but I can't solve it.

A program I use (neuro programmer) used to work quite well on my system but now when ever I try to load it, I get this error:[CODE]This obviously is related to me having sandboxie installed on my computer and then removing it incorrectly. I tried re-installing sandboxie and neuro programmer numerous times.I have tried to locate the folder but it doesn't exist on my systemI have run a registry cleaner (which I now know isn't the best) run several different spy/ad/malware scanners with nothing coming up.I haven't tested all my programs, but I am sure this could be a problem for a few of them.Is there anyway I can get this program to start? Is it a registry error? I looked in regedit and couldn't see anything really linked to neuro programmer (not that I am really aware of what to look for

I bought a new computer in Feb 2012 and the people that I bought it from put it together and I installed Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. Within the first week I was getting lots of random blue screens but being busy I couldn't deal with it and after the first week, then it was fine for about 2 months. I still have it under warranty. The blue screens were getting much more frequent, did memtest86 and had TONS of errors and took it in they said the ram was bad so they took out the bad ram and I've got it running now still with 8gigs.Took it home and every couple of days or hours or weeks I would get a blue screen related to memory such as MEMORY_MANAGEMENT or PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA etc. The people I purchased it from told me that they wouldn't look at it again until I've reinstalled Windows again from scratch. So I did. Same thing, random blue screens usually pointing to memory and at random times too (sometimes running a lot of things, other times it's been idle). I do shut my computer down every night.I decided to do another memtest86 and this time the memory seemed fine. Did chkdsk and it was fine. The people that I bought the computer from then took it back, looked at it for a day and said it must be the mouse, ethernet, power, keyboard, monitor, printer or something connected and that they wouldn't look at it until I'd swapped all that stuff. So I bought new speakers, new mouse, disconnected printer, new cables and a new ethernet cord (didn't buy a new monitor). Still getting random blue screens. I don't think it's related to a piece of hardware as I am running them all on another Windows 7 Pro 64 bit machine with no issues but just to be safe I swapped them all (except monitor).

Basically I want to know how to bring all of the windows within a group back to their original sizes.
For instance let's say I've got two Word files open side by side. If I go to a maximized Google window to look something up now I have to click on both word files separately. After a while this gets to be a bit of annoyance. I'd like to know how to click on the Word tab and bring both word windows back to the size they were before another window was on top.

Well this is my first post on the forum & immedially it is a blue screen post. Not entirely unexplainable since I was able to reproduce it and solve it!
Issue: Bluescreen when accessing redirected "my documents" folder.
Involved machines:
Windows 2008 server environment. The fileserver runs on a perc 5/i in RAID 5. The disc is configured as GPT as it is larger then 2 TB. Folder redirection is configured by a GPO towards the fileserver. Domain is running on windows 2008 functional level.
Test PC running Windows 7.
Cause & solution:
Well, basicly I could reproduce the bluescreen occuring each time I worked with files. I configured the initial rights on the fileserver according to this guide: How To Configure Folder Redirection (I keep forgetting what rights are needed "DUH")
What did happen to cause this issue? Well, I wanted to place data in the redirected folders to play around with. As I was currently working on the FS at that time I wanted to do it directly. Access was denied on the "my documents" of the test folder. So I took ownership... Apperantly the folders created by "folder redirection" differ quite a bit from 2003. I lost all rights on the folder. No biggie I figured, I just add the user to the ACL with full rights.
This is the moment I started to get the bluescreens on the Windows 7 test machine. And after a while it dawned upon me that the change of rights must have been the cause of it!
I disabled redirection of the my docs in the GPO, made sure the client machine was logged off, renamed the folder by adding .old, enabled the redirection again and logged in on the client machine.
I understand that taking ownership of the folder f*cked up the rights & windows needs these rights to work properly. It just seems that getting a bluescreen is a bit over the top.

a while back, my computer was infected with a windows antivirus... virus. Essentially, it took over the windows defender and warned me about fake viruses so that it could get me to download more. I was able to clear that up on the bleepingcomputer forums, but was told to go elsewhere to fix my updater and defender. I'll post the link to that old thread, but first I'll post your standard info...

I have an Acer Aspire 5542 Laptop running Windows 7 and have had no problems until recently. I went to check my Hotmail and found I could not get to Hotmail.com then my msn messenger signed out and would not sign back in.
I then noticed that I could not get to any Microsoft site but all other sites work fine. I am a computer tech and run a small home network the laptop being the only machine running windows 7 all other run XP or Linux all other machines can access all Microsoft sites so I am pretty sure the problem lies with the laptop, however after running every scan I can think of and coming up empty I wiped the mbr and recreated the hard drive partition and reinstalled windows with the factory restore disks.

i have suddenly developed problems with my win 7 after installing software, specifically the aforementioned update. at present, i can not use skype (i get the 0xc0000034 error), any torrent downloaders, play video on Internet, etc, and the flash player crashes in all browser windows (ff, ie) every time. vlc will play video, but no sound, and when i try to access controls, the program crashes, but won't quit the systray, like skype. itunes will load up, but not play anything, and then freezes, and has to be forced to quit. i've done a clean boot, and still nothing was working. i tried to restore twice, but both failed, at which point my save points were deleted as new action had taken place. i checked my device manager. and all hardware is functioning fine. i am currently updating all drivers, but i'm fairly certain it's superfluous. i have disabled my firewall and avg, run spybot, and scanned for virus. all clean. (i've always kept a clean drive). i am soooo close to fragging the drive and reinstalling windows. save my sanity. i have tried to uninstall the patch, but can't. things went to pot after installing kb2533552, and 2534366... running win 7 64 bit, ultimate, v.6.1 (build 7601, sp1) 4 gig ram, triple core amd processor, ati 4770 graphics card, creative sb titanium sound.

A few days ago, I logged in and my desktop and files were wiped clean and I got this message: "You have been logged on with a temporary profile. To fix this, log off and try logging on later. Please see the event log for details or contact your system admin." I shut down and tried again a half hour later and it was fine. Every day for the past few days, the same thing has been happening and yesterday it took about 8 reboots to get my regular profile up.
This is a new PC that I got late last year, and there are no signs of a virus or any other problems. I have not touched my profile or made any changes. This came out of nowhere. A brief search online has brought up some suggestions of changing the registry keys, but that can be extremely dangerous unless I know exactly what I'm doing.
