Auto-number In Excel Cells?
Oct 2, 2012I have numbers e. g. 1 to 100 in excel in a particular column. If I remove any number e. g. 13 & keep that cell blank. Further cells should get automatically numbered from 13 onwards.

Excel: Make Some Cells Remain The Same When Pulling It Down?
Oct 11, 2012Been having some problems with excel getting it to behave like Iwanted, tried google around but so clueless as to what to call things that it makes it hard. What I want is for a cell formula to do as I want when I pull on the lower-right corner down.Normally it the adds 1 to every cell address, but I need some of them to remain the same while others change. More exact:I'm trying to make excelsheet where one collum is supposed to have the formula:
=F3*Dx/D3
x goes from 3 to eternity, while F3 and D3 should remain static while doing that drag thing. I remember there was a way to mark F3 and D3 so they don't change, but can't remember how.So F4 has F3*D4/D3, F5 has F3*D5/D3 and so fourth.
In Excel 2007 Why Doesn't Locking And Protecting Cells Work
Mar 18, 2011I've created a workbook with about 15 worksheets and prior to sending to the customer I want to lock the cells so that they can't be changed without a password. So, I first select the cells I don't want to be altered and lock them. Then I go to "protect worksheet" and after checking the box that allows people to select cells in the locked section (selection of sells in unlocked section checks automatically) I enter a password twice and the worksheet is theoretically locked.
I can still change cells in the locked area. It didn't work on any of my worksheets. So I went back and unprotected the sheets and then selected and locked the cells TWICE, after which I protected the worksheets again. This time some, but not all, of the worksheets had locked the cells protecting them from editing. I then tried to go thru the same rigmarole but locking the cells three or four times before protecting the sheets for the sheets that were still unlocked, but that only worked sporadically as well. Sometimes I had to dis-allow selection, lock the cells in the sheet, unprotect it, lock the cells again twice, and then check the select box and protect the sheet AGAIN. That FINALLY worked.

Jun 2, 2012I created a five year pro forma financial model for my business. The spreadsheet makes extensive use of worksheet formulas and macros. I also added a sheet to track actuals (numbers extracted, by hand, from QuickBooks monthly).Certain formulas in the spreadsheet are based on values that do not change over time. For example, I assume that my widgets will sell for some unit price and monthly revenue forecasts are calculated as the projected sales volume times the unit price.Here's the problem - let's assume that my sales price changes at some point in time, after sales revenue has been generated. If I simply change the price, which is applied globally, then the historical 'projections' will be wrong.Just to be clear: When the model was first built, it assumed that widgets sell for $100 apiece. Assume that unit sales are the same as the month number. Thus, my revenue for the first six months would be $100, $200, $300, $400, $500, and $600. Assume that for the first three months, I hit my revenue numbers. In this case, the sheet that tracks actuals would show a $0 difference, for each of the first three months, between projected revenue and actual revenue. Since business is doing so well, I decide to increase the price of the widgets to $150 on a forward-going basis. Suddenly, the spreadsheet now shows that I failed to meet projections for the first three months, when, in fact, I did meet them!It seems to me that there should be some way to lock cells in the spreadsheet based on the current date. For example, when I open the spreadsheet in June, I should be able to programmatically protect cells from May and earlier. Is this possible?

May 20, 2012I bought a Asus U36J laptop back in April of last year and ever since then I have been beating around an issue that I dont seem to be able to resolve one way or the other. When ever the laptop is on battery and in battery saving mode it has my taskbar on autohide. If I turn that off, then it stays off right until it is put back into battery saving mode at which point it is "magically" ticked on again.
Is there no way to simply disable that feature, as its annoying me greatly. I know its tied into the battery saving desktop, and I want to keep the battery saving desktop but want a full taskbar all the time. I found a supposed fix to make that happen, and while it actually makes the taskbar appear all the time, it still is a bad hack as any windows I have open wont "attach" to the taskbar but attaches to the buttom of the screen.
So for the love of god is there no sane way for me to keep the battery saving desktop but get rid of the autohiding taskbar. Otherwise I know Asus most likely wont be my laptop of choice next time aroumd.

In Vista, the Personal.xlsb is stored at C:Usersuser nameAppDataLocalMicrosoftExcelXLSTART. I have imported the macros into visual basic but I can only save them into that particular workbook and when I reopen Excel, the macros are not avaliable.

Excel Files Are Not Opening?
Mar 2, 2010I love the new taskbar and the "right click" on a pinned programme to access recent files & pinned files. However, while this feature works perfectly for Word, when I try to open an excel file from the taskbar, or even as an attachment to a received e-mail, I get the message " there was a problem sending the command to the program". The excel program itself opens if it is not already open, but the selected file doesn't. I can only open the file by going through "office button/open". If it is an e-mail attachment, I can only open it by saving it to one of my folders, and opening it via "office button/open". Additionally, once I attempt to open an excel file from the taskbar, the excel symbol on the taskbar displays a yellow/brown border instead of the normal border.

Probably temporary fault and should try again later. The first step I must do is to partition a disk.As far as I have been reading tutorials on this site it is recommended to separate Windows/ programs and Documents into separate partitions. So I am going to create C- partition for Windows and Program Files of about 100MB.What about the other partitions. Is it worth to create separate partitions for say for "Images", "Documents", "Development Projects". Or is it better to put all this stuff into one partition? Advantage of multiple partitions, as I see, would be more flexibility for backup/recovery. From the other side, disadvantage of multiple partitions would be not optimal usage of disk space.
