View 9 Replies View RelatedI switched out motherboards. MS no longer recognizes my key as valid. I've been looking for a phone number for product activation but I haven't been able to find one.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI while back a friend of mine gave me a Windows 7 Ultimate key because he said he didn't need it. I plugged it into Windows Anytime Upgrade and it started to verify and upgrade. Half way through the process I cancelled the upgrade because I remembered "oh, yeah. my computer sucks." I thought that my computer would suffer massive performance hit from upgrading. By the way it's an Acer Aspire One D250 netbook with Windows 7 starter. My question is, if I buy a Windows 7 Home Edition key can I use that instead because every time I go to Anytime Upgrade it just tries to install Ultimate automatically. Can I cancel the upgrade in place for something else? Should I forget about it completely or should I just go through with the Ultimate upgrade? Can my computer handle Windows 7 Ultimate?

few years ago I made the stupid move of buying an iBuyPower PC. It was horrid, and I returned it but kept the Windows 7 CD on accident. A few weeks ago I completed my first build. But didn't have enough by the end of it to afford windows so I figured I'd just use that disc and see if I can re-activate it by phone or something.I've since installed it, but it will expire soon. I've since purchased a new copy from amazon. Will I have to re-install Windows? Or can I just enter the new product-id and key from the new box.Currently when I go to computer properties, there's an IBuyPower logo. Will I be able to change that? I want to rid their name from my build.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I start windows 7 there are three logon icons: last user, other user and fingerprint swipe icon. I want it to display a fourth icon for the two last users, or two fixed logon icons, because I use two accounts regularly.
This is from a laptop on our work's network, so it probably should not display all available users.

Why am I suddenly being asked for a product key when I open a word document now I have upgraded to windows 7 from Vista. Have never been asked for a key before and don't have one since it came pre-installed
View 3 Replies View RelatedI lost my product ID and Key and I need to reinstal Malwarebytes. How can I get my product ID & Key? or what is the phone number to call. In addition I changed my e mail after I purchased the product.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to recover your product key? I have Win7 retail for 3 computers. I have just installed on the last computer (the first two were installed a year or so ago) and I don't have the product key. I think I tossed it out as it was on a card IN THE BOX rather than a sticker on the end like every other frigin MS product I have seen. I must have saw the card and just tossed it out thinking it was just another ad trying to sell me something else. Seeing the sticker (but not looking close) just assumed it had the product key.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just downloaded build 7600.16834 iso (x64) and looking at the website below which shows the install screens the RTM version is asking for a product key. Does anyone know what to use as a product key as I only have the RC Keys.
I am sure I have read somewhere that you can skip entering the key and then re-arm the RTM version for 120 days. Is this correct?
I don't want to wipe a perfectly good system only to get to the end of the RTM install where you input the key and be stuck there!
Yes, the product key is unique, but how is the ID created? Is that a pre-determined id for that particular version of Windows 7 or is if unique to the key?
View 7 Replies View Relatedi just downloaded windows 7 rc2 from windows site, but cannot install it, because ive got error message: your product key cannot be activated.

I purchased a copy of Windows 7 professional on-line and downloaded the setup file. When I opened it I was told that: 'to upgrade from one version of Windows 7 to another you need to use Windows anytime upgrade' or something to that effect. So I went to windows anytime upgrade and click on 'I have already purchased a copy of windows 7', then I was prompted to enter the upgrade key. I just entered the Product key because as far as I am aware I haven't got an upgrade key.
The upgrade worked so I assumed I had done the right thing. Can any one confirm that the upgrade key is the same as the product key?
I am attempting to install the Windows7 Release Candidate on a Toshiba G50 laptop. Everything goes well until I reach the First Use stage.
When I respond to the instruction to enter the Product Key for the Vista Ultimate operating system that is installed on the omputer, I get a message saying "Invalid Product Key". It is ABSOLUTELY the product key on the sticker on the base of the computer.
Can anyone offer me advice about what to do next? Is there a way to have the computer tell me what the product key of the installed software is?
I have just done a clean install from vista to win 7 using a upgrade version of win 7 hp, following the tutorial off this site, but when doing the install it didn't ask me for the product key or if i wanted to activate win 7, any one else had this happen, do i need to do anything. When i look at system page it shows a product key that doesn't match the one in the box & there is a button that asks if i want to change the product key, it also states i have 30 days to activate win 7.
View 7 Replies View RelatedJust one question : Is it possible to reinstall an Operating System like Vista or 7 with an image DVD downloaded from internet and activated with the CD Key from the computer that was bought with that license.

Windows Vista Home Premium (english) - License, product CD key bought with the computer.
I have installed fresh Windows 7 Pro x64, and Office 2007 Small Business Edition SBE. Every time I try to type my Product key (which I have checked several times and it is correct) I got message saying that my key is invalid. To be honest I am not entierly sure whether I should call Microsoft and explain the whole palava or there is something better.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo, I've recently been getting this "The Windows 7 Home premium product key is invalid for activation" I wasn't getting this the first two weeks after I re-installed my Windows 7 home premium, so I assumed everything was fine. Then, I started to get this... I don't see why the key would be invalid, it's the key that's on the bottom of my laptop, and yes before anyone asks, my windows os before was windows 7 home premium 64 bit, like the one I have installed now.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAre Windows 7 Product Keys tied to bit type as well as the version (Home Premium, Professional, etc)?
If one buys, say, Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, but decided to fall back to Professinoal 32-bit, does the Product Key work?
I have only used 32-bit XP and Vista, but am looking at switching to 64-bit with Windows 7 (new PC purchase) and I wasn't sure if the Product Keys are tied to the bit type you are using. Obviously, they are tied to the version (Home Premium, Professional, etc).
I've had the impression with the Windows 7 Beta/RC that a Windows 7 Ultimate Product Key, for example, will work on the 32 or 64-bit version, but wasn't sure.
