Nov 7, 2010On my Dell Vostro laptop, Up until today I never had a problem but now when I plug in my energy monitor to a USB port I do.. I have a mouse plugged in one port. If I plug in my energy monitor into any of the other 3 USB ports it installs a USB to serial port at the next higher com number. Its up to com 18 now. If I unplug and replug it in again it will find USB to serial com 19. It just keeps going up. How can I reset it back to 3 or 4.

May 20, 2012Been searching the net for ages to sort out this bug in IE, but alas.Basically, if you try to open like a hundred IE windows, I start getting weird issues.I can open hundreds and hundreds of FF windows, but for some reason, IE doesn't hack it.I read that it's something to do with desktop heap, so I upped it's value via the registry (SharedSection), but to no avail. Mar 30, 2011When I try to upload something to a site that I frequently send uploads to without a problem I get the message:"Error Number 10053 - Connection is aborted due to timeout or other failure. Probably temporary fault and should try again later. I've tried many times since yesterday morning when the problem started, have restarted my computer and disconnected/reconnected my internet connection but still have the problem. I sent a message to the website and no one else appears to have the problem - so assume it is a problem my end. Does anyone have any suggestions of what might be wrong and how to fix it.

The first step I must do is to partition a disk.As far as I have been reading tutorials on this site it is recommended to separate Windows/ programs and Documents into separate partitions. So I am going to create C- partition for Windows and Program Files of about 100MB.What about the other partitions. Is it worth to create separate partitions for say for "Images", "Documents", "Development Projects". Or is it better to put all this stuff into one partition? Advantage of multiple partitions, as I see, would be more flexibility for backup/recovery. From the other side, disadvantage of multiple partitions would be not optimal usage of disk space.

Feb 7, 2012What is the "correct" way to increase the number of simutaneous downloads under IE9. I read that prior to IE8 that the number of downloads was limited to 2 for HTTP 1.1 and 4 for HTTP 1.0. Per MS, in IE8 this was increased to 6 and 6 and they provided a Fix-It to go up to 10 and 10. It appears that IE9 is back to 2 and 4? I found 3 different options on how to change the registry to provide an increase.
1. Appears to be the hack of choice prior to IE8, but claims are it will work on IE9.

Administrative Templates>Windows Components>Internet Explorer>Security Features>AJAX then set the desired number of connections.
I first tried option 3, but could not detect any change to the registry areas stated in 1 or 2 so not sure what this group policy setting changes. Option 2 seemed the most logical since the sub-keys were already there and HKLM makes system wide changes vs HKLU which also needs more entries. Interested in knowing what the best way to do this is and what data values you are using.

Jun 15, 2011I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64, afetr a recent update I have lost my 'switch user' option on the start button completely, I have two other users on the computer, I have deleted these accounts and then set them up again, still no joy.I have just created a 'switch user' shortcut for my desktop thinking that would solve the problem, when I use it the computer goes to the users log on screen, I can see my account still logged in, but when I select one of the other accounts I get the following error: 'The number of connections to this computer is limited and all are in use' There is only the administrators account open..
