Windows 7 - How To Change The Number Of Logon Icons
Oct 24, 2012When I start windows 7 there are three logon icons: last user, other user and fingerprint swipe icon. I want it to display a fourth icon for the two last users, or two fixed logon icons, because I use two accounts regularly.
This is from a laptop on our work's network, so it probably should not display all available users.

Mar 24, 2011You all know the Graphic Rotation option available on Intel Video chipsets? Well, i was typing along, and suddenly my screen want blank. So i was like WTH? Then the screen came back to life..... Sideways. So, after straining my neck trying to maneuver the cursor to my desktop, i set my monitor straight, and went back to work, thinking it was a fluke, then it did it to me again. Then it dawned on me that whenever i press an arrow key, the screen flipped in said direction! Down for Upside down, Left for sideways left, right for sideways right, and up for normal. I need my arrow keys so that i can effectively type, since i use them as an alternative for backspace when i need to fix an error, and for scrolling through webpages and such.

Dec 14, 2012I bought the retail version of Windows 7 Home Premium last year and am currently using it on my mbp via bootcamp. I am now building my own computer. I want to know if I can install and activate windows 7 on my new pc and deactivate but not uninstall it on my current macbook. So I want to keep windows 7 installed on my laptop and I don't mind losing the updates and anti virus.
The second part of my question is that will it be possible to deactivate it from my to be built computer and reactivate it on my laptop a year later?I won't be using the laptop for now but I will be using it later and my pc will be left unused for some months.Can I keep windows 7 installed on both my macbook and my pc and switch the license between the 2 of them when I need to?

Aug 2, 2011Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1.Have 7 standard users created in the User Accounts. Only 5 user icons displaying on welcome screen. All 7 users are required to and do have passwords set.Creating a new user does not add that new user to the welcome screen.Deleting a user does not move one of the other users onto the welcome screen..it reduced the number of user icons to 4.All users have valid User directories and if I force the login prompt instead of icons, they can login successfully.This happened about a week ago and may be the result of some software my son installed. Not sure.There is not an "Other User.." icon...just 5 valid user icons with 2 missing.

Jul 31, 2012Whenever I try to boot my computer the "welcome" message on the start up does not appear. The graphics appear to be changed a little, but can successfully login to my account . The desktop icons are displayed without the corresponding descriptive text for example I can see computer icon but not the "My computer" tag same with all icons. Right clicking on anything pops up a menu without text just a white box. Clicking activity never works and the system just crashes with a blue screen or a blank screen in few seconds.The issue started after I ran sfc/scanow command through command promt. I got several errors in system files which it fixed but not for the good(apparently the tool suppose to help users got me in trouble). Subsequent attempts yielded no errors. safe mode just displays windows icon , nothing else.Some history: I have previously used several theme softwares which tweak the system files but uninstalled it later. I tried to repair the installation using the DVD but it couldn't find any problems. Apr 28, 2012last weekend I was trying to recover the contents of a failed hard drive to a new hard drive using Windows System Repair Disc and Windows System Image.was able to successfully restore the image. Everything is working fine, but here is my question - the original hard drive was 750 GB and the new one is 1TB. After doing the system restore the hard drive properties show the identical size of the failed drive - not the new larger size. The BIOS shows the correct size. Does the Windows System Image set up the new hard drive exactly as the old one, so it will only access the original 750 GB

1. your current security settings prohibit running activex controls on this page, or
2. you have blocked a publisher of one of the controls.as a result, the page may not display correctly.
The warning pop-up opens only when I click on Extended tab.The problem has nothing to do with IE security, because I can open pages with ActiveX controls on them and so.I have installed Spybot spyware/malware removal tool. Then uninstalled it.I'm not sure if this is the cause of the problem. But I presume it is.

I have a problem with my girlfriends laptop, where she can't install any MSI files, due to a "The file cannot be opened" error, or something to that effect. After looking in the Permissions settings for the MSI file in question, I noticed something in the Security tab, under User Names. Where it's supposed to say Miss Ghoul (STEPHANIE-PCMiss Ghoul), it actually says... Miss Ghoul (STEPHANIE-PC"). There are " where Miss Ghoul should be. I tried for ages to find out how to change this, but because she's running Windows 7 Home Premium, I have no Group Policy editor (if it even helps to have it). Is there any way to force change the " to say what it's supposed to say? And could this have an efect on her ability to install MSI files?

This used to work before, but now when my mouse pointer is over the little triangle (see 1st pic, where "Blocco note" is "Notepad") nothing happens, and cannot understand why. Other apps are fine (e.g. Microsoft Office Excel 2007, Beyond Compare 3, see 2nd pic) What can I try?
